Getting Started 5 Inst alli ng the Memor y Car d Y our device lets you use a microSD ™ (SD ) or microSDHC ™ card to expand availabl e memory spa ce. This secure digital card enables you to excha nge imag es, music, and data between SD-compatible devices.
6 Using the T r av el Adapter T o use the travel adapter to charge your battery, follow these steps: 1. Carefully slide the Outlet Conne ctor into the Charging Head (1). Make sure the co nnection is secure. 2. Connect the USB cable to the Charging Head (2).

It also shows how to na vigate through the tablet and provides in formation on using a memory card.

As you place the Widget into the T rash, the widget turns red. Note: This action does not actually delete the Widget, it just removes it from the current Home screen.

30 Section 3: Entering T ext This section describes how to select the desired text input method when entering characters into your tablet. This section also describes the pred ictive text entry syst em that reduces the amount of key strokes associ ated with entering tex t.
Entering T ext 31 Changing the T ext Input Mode - K eypad There are two main keypad la yout keys that will change t he on- screen keys within the QWERTY keypa d. The available T ext Input modes are: Sym and Abc . Note: When in Abc mode, the Sym button will appear .
32 Using Symbol/Numeric Mode Use Symbol/Numeric Mode to add numbers, symbols, or emoticons. 1. Rotate your tablet counte rclockwise to a Landscape orientation. 2. Ta p at the bottom of the scre en. The follow ing screen displays: 3. T ap the desired number , symbol, or emoticon c haracters.
Entering T ext 33 5. Begin typing a word. A list of word options is displayed. T a p one of the words to replace the word that has already been typed or tap fo r more word choices. 6. Continue typing your me ssage. T a p to send the message or tap for more options.
34 • Double-tap on the word you want to change to correct a misspelled word, then tap the delete key to erase o ne character . T ouch and hold the delete key to erase an entire word.
Contacts 35 Section 4: Contacts This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Co ntact list. Contact entries can be sorted by name, entry , or group.
36 The keypad is displayed. The Wor k button initially displays nex t to the Email address field. If you want to ad d an Email address that i s not a Home email address, ta p the Work button and select from Home, Work, Mobile, Othe r , or Custom (add your own label).
Contacts 37 T o add a pause or a wait to a Contact: 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts , and then tap the name or number to open the Contact. 2. Ta p Edit . 3. T a p the phone number field. 4. T a p the screen at the posi tion where the pause or wait needs to be added.
38 Depending on your particular SIM card, th e maximum number of contacts the SIM card can stor e and how they are st ored may differ . 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Contacts . 2. Within the Contacts list (sort e d alphabetical ly), tap a letter on the left side of the displ ay to quickly jump to th e contacts beginning wi th that le tter .

40 Synchronizing Accounts From the Accounts menu you decide if you want applications to synchronize, send, and receive data at any given time , or if you want the applications to sync hronize automatically . After determining how you wa nt the accounts to sy nchronize, indica te which account to synchronize with your Contacts list.
Contacts 41 – Choose contac ts to display : T a p Ta b l e t to only display certain groups or All Other Contacts. T ap any other account you may have, such as Facebook to display All contacts. • Delete contacts : allows you to tap on each contact t hat you want to delete .

50 – Set as : allows you to set the picture as Wallpape r or as a Contact icon. – Crop : allows you to crop the picture. T ap the orange box and move it to the desired location and tap Save . The area within the orange box will be the area cropped and will be saved in place of the old p icture.

Changing Y our Settings 67 WPS Button Connection The WPS (Wi-F i Protected Setup ) button is a standard for easy and secure wireless network set up and connections. T o use WPS, the connecti ng device must supp ort WPS and be compatible with Wi-Fi Protecte d Access (WP A) security .
68 Scan D evices This option allows you to scan fo r active Bluetoot h devices so you can pair with them. 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Settings ➔ Wireless and network ➔ Bluetooth settings and tap Scan devices . Y our tablet begins scanning and lists any discovered devices in the Bluet ooth devices section.

78 R unning ser vices The Running services option al lows you to view and control currently running services such as Daily Brief ing, DataSer vice, Google T alk, SNS (messa ging), Swype, and more. T o stop a service from running on your ta blet: 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Settings ➔ Applications ➔ Running services .
Changing Y our Settings 79 • Background data : allows your tablet to use data in t he background. • Auto-sync : autom atically synchron izes your data w ith the tablet. 4. Under the Manage acco unts heading, tap to synchronize the account with your tablet.

82 Select input me t hod There are two input methods av ailable: Swype and Samsung keypad. Samsung keypad is the default text input method. 1. From the Home screen, tap ➔ Settings ➔ Locale and text ➔ Select input method . 2. Select either Swype or Sa msung keypad and follo w the instructions below.

94 Wi-Fi Status Ind icators The following icon s show your Wi-Fi conne ction status at a glance: Displays when Wi-Fi is connected, active, and communicating with a Wi reless Access Point (W AP). Displays when Wi-Fi is active but there is a communication issue with th e target Wire less Access Point (W AP).

96 Bluetooth Settings The Bluetooth se ttings menu allows you to set up many of the characteristics of your device ’ s Bluetooth service, including: • Entering or changing the name your device use.

Enter the passkey or PIN code, if needed, and tap OK . 5. The external device will then ha ve to also accept the connection and enter you r devi ce’ s PIN code.
98 PC Connections Y ou can connect your de vice to a PC using an optional PC data cable using various USB connectio n modes. When you connect the device to a PC, you can synchron ize files with Windows Media Player , transfer data to a nd from your devi ce directly , or use the Kies program and use you device as a wireless modem for a PC.
