7 Rear view G et started First steps t o operating your phone SIM card infor m at io n When you subscribe to a cellular network, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscr iber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscription details, suc h as your PIN, and available optional services.
Ge t started 8 Insert the battery . Reattach the battery cover . . Plug the travel adapter into the phone. Plug the adapter into a standard AC pow er outlet. When the phone is completely charged, unplug the adapter from the power outlet and from the phone.
Get started 9 Power on or off Keypad loc k When you close the phone, it locks the exposed keys to prevent any unwanted phone operations, from a ccident ally pressing any of the keys . T o unlock the keypad, press < Unlock > and then < OK >.

Use Bluetooth Y o ur phone is equipped with Bluetooth technology , enabling you to co nnect the phone wirelessly to other Bluetooth devices and exchange data with th em, talk hands-free, or control the phone remotely .

Step outside the phone 27 Use a memory card Y o u can use a memory card to increase your phone’ s m e m ory capacity . 1. Access an application, Phonebook , My files , Calendar , or Memo . 2. Select an item. 3. Press < Options > and select Send via → Bluetooth .

This could result in loss of data and/or damage to the card or phone. • Do not subject cards to strong shocks. • Do not touch card terminals with your fingers or metal objects.
29 Enter text ABC, T9, Number, and Symbol m odes Y ou can enter text in some features, such as Messages, Phonebook, or Calendar , using ABC mode, T9 mode, Number mode, and Symbol mode. Changing the text input mod e • Press and hold [ ] to sw itch b etween T9 mode ( ) and ABC mode ( ).
Enter text 30 Using T9 mode T9 is a predictive text input mode that allows you to enter any character using single keystrokes. Entering a word in T9 mode 1. Press [ 2 ] to [ 9 ] to start en te ring a word . Press each k ey once for each letter . T9 predicts the word you are typing, and it may change with ea ch k ey that you press.
31 4. Enter the word you want using ABC mode and press < Add >. Using Numbe r mo de Number mode enables y ou to enter numbers. Press the k eys corre sp o n ding to the digits you want. Using Symbol mod e Symbol m ode enables you to insert sym bols.
Call functions 32 Redialling recent numb ers 1. In Idle mode, press [ ] to display the list of recent numbers. 2. Scroll to the number you want to call and press [ ]. Making a call from Phonebo ok Once you ha ve stored a number in Phoneboo k, you can dial the number by selecting it from Phonebook.

Call functions 34 4. Press < Options > and select End held call to end the call on hold. 5. T o end the current call, press [ ]. Answering a second call Y ou can answer a call while already on the phone, if your network supports the call waiting feature and you have activated it.
Call functions 35 • Whisper mode on / Whisper mode off : turn on or off Whisper mode. Whisp er mode automatically increas es t he microphone's sensitivity to allow the other person to hear your voice even though y ou ma y be whisp ering .
36 • Transfer : transfe r th e currently a ct ive call to a caller on hold. The two callers can talk to each other , but you a re disconnected from the call. • Remove : disconnect the selected participant. • End held call : disconnect the call currently on hold.

Men u fu n ct i on s Phonebo ok (Menu 2) 39 Phonebook (Menu 2) Y ou can store phone numbers on your SIM card and in your phone’s memory . The SIM card and phone’s memory are physically separate, but they are used as a si ngle entity called Phonebook.

FDN contacts (Menu 2.2) Use this menu to creat e a list of contacts to be used in FDN (Fixed Dialling Number) mode, in which the phone allows outgoing calls only to the specified phone numbers.

When you select Auto , the phone switches the encoding type from GSM-alphabet to U n ico d e if y ou enter a Unicode character . Using Unicode encoding will reduce the maximum number of characters in a message to about half .

Report allowed : set the network to inform the sender when a message is de livered to you. Home netwo rk : determine if your phone retrieves new messages automatical ly when you are in your home service area.
Menu fun ct ion s 74 Warni ng : you can create a me ssage with any type of content and of any size, but the phone will inform you when the content and size exceed the maximum. Free : you can create a message with an y type of content and o f an y size.
