Getting S t arted 5 Note: The Samsung a796 has been tested to support cards up 16GB capacity . Installing the Battery 1. Align the top e dge of the battery under the tabs at th e top edge of the battery chamb er with the arrow on the batte ry pointing toward the battery contacts (1).
Getting S t arted 6 3. Replace the batt ery cover on the bac k of the phone (1) an d press down until a click ind icates that the cover has locked i nto position (2). Charging the Ba ttery Y our phone i s powered by a recharge able Li-ion (lithium i on) battery .
Getting S t arted 7 Note: The charger’s connector attaches to the phone at a slight an gle toward the top o f the phone. 2. Plug the charger into a standard AC wall ou tlet. If the phone is off, the display indicate s that the phone is charg ing. If the phone is on, a bar in the battery icon flashes to indicate charging.
Getting S t arted 8 Low Battery Indication When only a few minutes of ta lk time remain, the e mpty battery icon flashes and a warn ing tone sounds at regular inte rvals. The backlight dims to conserve t he remaining battery p ower . When the battery le vel becomes too low , the phone automati cally turns off.
Getting S t arted 9 Access Codes There are several access codes used by your p hone and its SIM card. These codes help p rotect the phone against unauthoriz ed use.
Getting S t arted 10 2. Enter a ne w PIN of yo ur choice and t ouch OK . 3. When the Confirm PIN Code message displays, e nter the sam e code again and touch OK . If you enter an incorrect PUK ten times in succe ssion, the SIM card becomes invalid. Con tact your serv ice provider for a new card.

From the Idle sc reen, open the phone and use the keypad to enter the number you wish t o call. 2. Press to add a two-second pause, then use the keypad to enter the additional numbers .

Contact s 58 Contacts The Contacts menu i s used to manage y our contact list. Y ou can store names, phone nu mbers and other informa tion in both your SIM c ard and your phone’s memory , which are physically se parate but both used to create the contact list.

T ouch to access phone options: Call: allows you to call the se lected nu mber . Send Message: allows you to send a text mes sage or picture message to the se lected number.
Contact s 65 • Add to Favourites: Adds the current contact entry to you r Favourite list. Groups Using Groups you can organize your c ontacts into l ists such as Famil y , Friends and Work. Y ou can also assign a un ique Caller ID or ringtone to members of the group.

Copy Contacts to SIM Card Note: When storing a contact on the SIM card , only the name, phone number , group, and slot location are initially available as fields (some SI M cards may allow an address as well).

Contact s 71 Own Number This function is a memo ry aid that shows you the phone numb er assigned to the SIM card in you r phone. In Idle mode, touch Contacts Contact Settings Own Number . Fixed Dial Contacts This selection acces ses your FDN (Fixed Dialing Number) list.

Internet 75 Internet Y our phone is equi pped with a WAP (Wireless Appli cation Protocol) browser that allows you to access the Internet. Picture Message Profiles: Used to configur e your Net work parameters (it is recom mended that you consult a custom er service representative before cha nging any of th ese settings).
Messages 97 Push Message A Push Message is a method for your servic e provider to del iver content such as firmwa re updates and emerg ency notificat ions to mobile phon es that are WAP enabled. Y ou cannot initiate or reply to W AP Push Messages . Note: Please contact Rogers customer service for further details before changing any of the settings.
Media 98 Media The Media menu is used to manage yo ur media files (audio , pictures, videos and other files). Media files ar e organized in a se ries of folders. Y ou can also create additional folde rs or sub-folders to furth er organize your files .
Media 99 Note: Only unlocked files and folders can be moved or copied. The Audio, Pictures, Videos and Other Files folders are permanently locked. Ri ngtones and wallpapers supplied with your phone are permanently locked. Files you have pl aced on the phone are unlocked unless you have locked them (see “File and Folder Options” below).
