5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by first configuring your hard ware, activating your service, and then setting up your voice mail. Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to use it is necess ary to install both the battery and SIM int o their corresponding internal comp artments.
Getting Started 6 Note: If the card is not inserted correctly , the phone does not detect the SIM card. Re-orient the card back into the slot if the SIM is not detected. Inst alli ng the Memor y Car d Y our phone also supports the use of a memor y card (microSD™) for data storage of such things as data, music, pictures, and video fil es.
7 3. Place the batter y cover onto the back of the phone and press down (1). 4. Press down on the bottom of the phone (2) unt il you hear a light click. Note: Make sure the battery is properly installed before s witching on the phone. Charging a Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rech argeable Li-ion batt ery .
Getting Started 8 2. Plug the data cable into the ba se piece provided and into the Power/Accessor y Interfac e connector on your phone. 3. Plug the base piece into a standard AC wall outlet. 4. When the battery is fully charged, the phone displays a message telling you the batt ery is full.
9 Note: The display language is preset to English at the factory. T o change the language, from Idle mode, touch ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Language . For more information, refer to “Changing Y our Settings” on page 52. 2. Press and hold , until the phone switches off.

13 Back View of Y our Phone 1. Camera lens : is used to take pictures and shoot videos. 2. External speaker : allows you to hear when the Speakerphone is tu rned on. Display Layout Y our display screen provides a wealth of informa tion about the phone’ s status and options, as well as providing access to the widget bar .

17 • Music Player : allows you to launch the Music Player while using the handset for other tasks. If an inc oming call is received or yo u want to make a call, the Music Player is muted. • Games : allows you to quickly access Games while using the hands et for other tasks.
Menu Navigation 18 Section 3: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu na vigation for your phone. Y our phone has done away with the ne ed for navigation wheels or keypads. Y our phone is com ple tely navigabl e by either an on-screen touch or scroll.
19 Navigating T hr ough t he Main Menus Y our phone originally has thre e main menus, but you can add seven more main men us for a total o f ten. Some icons can be deleted and re placed with new icons. 1. From the Idle screen, touch . Main menu is disp layed .

21 Navigating T hr ough Me nus As you navigate through a menu, options display on the screen as scrollable lists. Menu tabs (l ocated at th e bottom of most screens, provide access to a dditional screen options). T o nav igate a scro llable list: 1. From the Idle screen, tou ch .
Menu Navigation 22 Note: Scrolling requires that you press firmly on the screen then drag. When scrolling through a list make sure not to touch or press individual entries on the list as this will open the list entry.

Menu Navigation 26 Games : allows you to access your Games folder . For more informat ion, refer to “Games” on page 123. Widget Memo 1 : allows you to write a short memo to keep on your widget bar or main display . The Widget Memo is limite d to 80 characters.
27 Bluetooth : From this application you can activate Bluetooth and configure it so other Bluetooth devices can see your device by name. For more infor mation, refer to “Bluetooth” on page 65. Alarms : allows you to access alarm settings. For more infor mation, refer to “Alarms” on page 146.
Menu Navigation 28 W idget Bar Navigatio n Y ou can drag the widgets to the desktop (Idle Scre en) to use the application or feature, then dra g it back to the Widget Bar when you are finished. There are thr ee different widg et desktops you can use. Y ou can have different widgets on all t hree desktops.
29 2. While still ho lding the icon , drag it away from the wid get bar and drop it on th e main screen ( 2 ). Then drag it back into its new loca tion in the list. Or , you can drag it away from the widget bar in a single moti on and drop it in t he desired location on the widget bar .
Menu Navigation 30 Understanding the Events W idget The Event Widget is an area tha t displays on the sc reen to inform you of calendar events, missed calls, or when new messages have been sent to the phone.
31 Section 4: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a ca ll. It also includes the features and function ality as sociated with maki ng or answering a call. Call Functions 32 Cor re cting an Enter ed Number Use the following steps to co rrect a mis-typed entry when dialing. 1. After entering a numbe r using th e keypad . • If you make a mistake , touch to erase a si ngle charac ter . • Press and hold to erase t he entire string of numbers.
33 Making a Call Using Speed Dial Y ou can assign a short cut numbe r to a phone number for speed dialing. 1. T ouch ➔ Address Book ➔ Address Book Settings ➔ Speed Dial . 2. The Speed Dial screen displays showing the numbers 1 through 9. The number 1 is reserved for Voice Mail .
Call Functions 34 2. End the call by pressing . Note: Y ou can answer a call while using the Address Book or other menu feature. After ending the call, the phone returns to the previously active function screen. Other A nsw ering Op tions When receiving an incomi ng call: • Briefly press down either volume key ( ) to mute the ring tone.
35 Dialing Options From the Idle screen and Main menu, you have t he option to access the Dial er and initiate a c all by touchin g . When you manually ente r numbers from th e Dialer , you will see th ree dialing opti ons displayed on the screen. • Call : dials the current number entered using the o n-screen keypad.
Call Functions 36 6. If the Auto Reco rd option is On , the recording starts whenever the V ideo Share ca ll is accep ted. 7. During a Video Share session, your options are displayed as icons on the scree n. T o uch the corresponding icon to activate the fea ture.

The following data it ems are displ ayed: •L a s t S e n t : shows the size of the last da ta packet s ent (mea sured in KB - kilobytes) since the last ti me this counter was reset. • Last Received : shows the size of the la st da ta packet received (measured in KB - kilobytes) si nce the last time this counter was reset.

Entering T ext 44 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired text entry mode when entering characters using the QWERTY keyboard-style keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry system to reduce the nu m ber of key strokes ne eded to enter text.
45 Changing the T ext Input Mode - K eypad There are three main keypad la yout keys that wi ll change the on- screen keys within the QWERTY key pad. The available T ext Input modes are: T9 , 123Sym , and Abc . Refer to the T ext Input mode in the uppe r right hand corner to identify which mode you are currently in.
Entering T ext 46 2. T ouch the T ext Input Mode bu tton at the bottom of the screen and touch . The T9 indicator turns green and appears in the upper right corner of the screen. 3. Begin typing a word. A list of word options displays and includes a number indicating the words available t o chose from.

Lock Applications Using this menu, you can lock your applications and media content (apps, messages, images, and sounds) from being accidentally ac cessed, alte red or deleted.
61 Change Phone Passw ord The Change password f eature allows you t o change your current phone password to a new one. Y ou must enter the current password before you can specify a new one. 1. T ouch the Change Phone Password field. 2. Enter the current phone password and touch .
Changing Y our Settings 62 3. Enter the new PIN2 code and touch . 4. Re-enter (reconfirm) the same code and touch . APN Co ntrol Allows yo u to turn control o f Access Point Names (APN) O n or Off. APNs are a method by which you can access advanced communication using your handset.

Selections are: Send Key , Any Key , and Automatic (Time - 1-5 seconds). • Call Status T ones : allows you to activate an alert tone for one of two avail able status cat egories.
65 Connectivity The phone has severa l communication/c onnection parameters which can be edited. Bluetooth Bluetooth is a shor t-range wireless comm unications technology capable of exchanging information over a di stance of a bout 30 feet without requiring a physical connection.
Changing Y our Settings 66 Phone’s Visibility 1. From Idle mode, touch ➔ Settings ➔ Connectiv ity ➔ Bluetooth ➔ Vi si b l e . 2. T o uch Ye s or No to enable or disa ble the visibility (discoverabi lity) of your phone. • Y our ph one become s visible to other de vices when you transmit your device’ s name to others in your area.
67 These services reduce the chance that incompatible dev ices are allowed to connect to your phone. • Headset : a Bluetooth headset enables both incoming and outgoing calls using Bluetooth headsets. • Handsfree : a Bluetooth car kit or spe akerphone enables both incoming and outgoing calls.

71 • Recording Time : allows you to choose the maximum limit allowed for the recorded audio fi le (1 Minute, 5 Minutes , 10 Minu tes, 15 Minu tes, 3 0 Minut es, 6 0 Minut es, o r Limi t fo r MMS). 2. T ouch . Calendar Setti ngs T o configure the starting day a nd view used when opening the Calendar application.

73 Note: Memory card is optional. Formatting the Memor y Car d Allows you to format your memo r y card. All information on the memory c ard will be removed and new folders will be created for your content. New folders include Music, T ones, Recorded Audio, Picture, Video, and Other Files.
Changing Y our Settings 74 Phone Information This option allows you to see th e phone number on the SIM card (within the phone), the Manufact urer , the Model number , the Device ID, the S oftware versi on, the Language, an d the Client Version. This information may be necessary if talking to Customer Service in the event of a problem.
75 Section 7: Mobile Video Y our phone allows you to acce ss t he Internet and downlo ad media files directly to your phone. The se media files are displayed using the built -in Media Player . Mobile Video is a media service which allows you to stre am media cont ent (We ather , News, Sports highlights, etc.

77 • Purchase Blocker : lets you restrict the ability to buy ringtones, downloads, games, etc., from MEdia Net on this phone. Setting up Parental Contr ols 1. In Idle mode, touch ➔ Mobile V ideo ➔ Customize Mobile Video ➔ Parental Controls to access the MEdia Net parental setup fields.
