Getting Started 9 Charging a Battery 3. With the battery in position on th e phone, place the co ver back on the handset and slide it in until it clicks. Charging a Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion batter y . Use the travel adaptor to charge the battery, and use on ly Sams ung approved batteries and chargers.

Remove the adapte r from the phone by gently pulling the connector out and replace the plastic co ver back over the open j ack. Note: During chargi ng, you must unplug the ada ptor before re moving the batter y from the phon e to avoid damage.

12 Low Batter y I ndicator When the battery is weak an d only a few minutes of talk time rem ain, a warning tone sounds, the “Battery Low” messa ge repeats at regular intervals on th e display , and the empty ba ttery ic on blinks. The backlight turns off t o conserv e the remaining battery power .

20 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that can be cust omized for your ease and specific needs. These func tions are arranged in menus and sub-men us, accessed using the two soft keys. Each menu and sub- menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.

48 Finding an Add ress Book Entr y Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names on to your SIM card and phone’ s onboard memory. They are physic ally separate but are used as a single entity , called the Address Book. Depending on y our particular SIM ca rd, the maximum number of phone numbers the SIM card can store may diffe r .

Messaging 59 Creating and Sending New Messages The T ext Message icon ( ) displays when you have receiv ed new text messages. When the memory is full , an error mess age displays and you ca nnot receive any new messages.

When the memor y is full, an error message displays and you cannot receive any new messages. Use the Delete option in each message box to delete obsolete messages.

64 Retrie ving New Messa ges While text messages from other phones ar e deliv ered directl y to your phone, Multimedia messa ges are stored in the Inbo x of the message serv er and the ser ver will alert you t o ne w messages. Therefore you need to retrieve new messages to your phone and read them on th e phone.

Messaging 71 Memory Status • Message Class : allows you to set the message class default for your messages. Choose from T ext Only , Small Imaging, Moderate Imaging, Small Vide o, and Moderate Video. • Creation Mode : allows you to set the creation mode for the message.

74 Silent Mode This menu item allows you to select what mode your phone will go in when you press and hold the key, or use the Down key on the volume until volume i s 0. Y ou can choose Vibration or Mute. When V ibration is selected your phone will only vibra te.

76 Set Time & Date This menu allows you to change the current time and date displa yed. Y ou can also find out what time it is in another part of the world. Note: Before setting th e time, you must speci fy your time zone in the World time menu. 1.

78 Security The Security featu re enables you to restric t the use of your phone by the others and to restrict the types of calls. Various codes and passwords are used to protect the features of yo ur phone. 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode.

80 Change PIN Code This feature allows you to c hange your current PIN, provi ded that the PIN Check feature is enabled. Y ou must enter the cu rrent PIN before you can sp ecify a new one. Once you have ente red a new PIN, you are as ked to confirm it by entering it again.
Changing Y our Settings 81 Set Calls Air plane Mode The Airplane Mode turns your handse t off for incoming and outgoing calls. USB Settings Y our phone can connect to a PC via th e USB cable (sold separately). The USB Settings allow your phone to be configured to launch a default application when an active USB connect ion is detected.
82 General Show My Number Y ou can prevent your phone number from being displayed on the phone of the person being called. Note: Some networks do not a llow you to change this setting. The following opti ons are available: • Set by Network : the default setting provided by the network is used.

Select a call forwarding opt ion by pressing the Up or Down key and then press the Select soft key or the key . Highlight My Devices and pres s the Select soft key or the key . 2. T o search for the Bluetooth device(s), highlight Search Ne w Device and press the Select soft key or the key .

These Pl aylists can be crea ted via either t he handset’ s Music Player options menu or fr om within a 3rd-party music application (such as Windows Media Player) and then downloaded to the handset.
