Your P hone 9 Key (s) Desc riptio n In Menu mode, scro ll through the menus and Phonebook. In Idle mode, all ows you to access your favorite m enus directly . For m o re information about shortcuts, see page 88. In Menu mode, the Left k ey returns to the previous menu le vel and the Right key selects the current m enu.
Your P hone 10 In Idle mode, launches the W AP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser . Makes or answers a call. When held down in Idle mode, recalls the last number dialed or received. In Menu mode, selects a menu function or stores information that you have entered, such as a name in the phone or SI M memory .

15 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular ne twork, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as y our PIN, any optional services av ailable and man y others.
Getting Started 16 3. Slide the S IM card into th e SIM card socke t so that it locks the card into place. Mak e sure the gold contacts of the card face into the pho ne. Note : When you nee d to remove the SIM card, slide it, as show n, an d tak e it out of th e s ocke t.

Call Functi ons 23 3. Use the U p an d Dow n keys to scro ll throug h the numbers until t he number you want highlights. Making a Ca ll from Phone book Y ou can store frequently phone numbers that you use regularly in the SIM card or the phone’ s memory , which are collectively called Phonebook.
Call Functions 24 Adjusting the Volume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiece volum e, use the V olume ke ys on the left side of the phone . Press the key to increase the v olume lev el and the key to decre ase the lev e l. In Idle mode, you can also adjust the keypad tone vo lume usin g th ese ke ys.

If the Anykey Answer option in the Extr a Settings menu ( Menu 4.7 ) is acti vated, yo u ca n pres s any key to answer a call except f or t he key and t he Rejec t soft key .

Call Functions 28 Quickly Switching to Sile nt Mode Silent mode is convenient when you wish to stop the pho ne from making noise, in a theater for example. In Idle mode, press and hold the key until the “Silent Mode” messag e and the Vibr ation icon ( ) display .
29 Sele cting F unction s and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow you to customize y our phone . These functions are arrang ed in menus and sub-m enus, accessed using the tw o soft k eys marked and . Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alte r the setting s of a particu lar functio n.
Selecting Fu nctions and Options 30 T o view the v arious functions and options av ailable and to sel ect the on e you want: 1. Press the appropriate soft key . In some functions, you may be aske d for a password or PIN. Enter the code and press the OK soft key .
31 Phoneboo k Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in your SIM card and phone ’ s memories. They are physically separ ate but are used as a single entity , cal led Phonebook .
Phonebook 32 4. Enter a name and press the OK soft key . The maximum length you can ente r for a name depends on your SIM card. 5. Press the right soft key , labeled To Card or To Phone to switch between the ph one’ s and card’ s me mories.

40 Entering Text When using y our pho ne, y ou will often need to enter tex t, such as when storing a name in Phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling eve n ts on yo ur calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’s ke ypad.
Entering Text 41 Changing the Text Input Mode When y ou are in a field that allows characters to be entered , you w ill notice th e text inp ut m od e ind icato r on the display . Example : W riting a text message To s elect Press the soft ke y until T9 mode displays.
Entering Text 42 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictiv e text inpu t mode that allow s you to k ey in any characte r using single k eystroke s. This text inp ut mode is based on a built-in dictionary . T o enter a word in T9 mo d e: 1. When you are in T9 mode, start entering a word by pressing the to keys.
Entering Text 43 • T o type words not found in T9 mode, change the text input mode to the upper/ lower- case char acte r input mod e. • T o enter full stops, hyp hens o r apostro phes , press the key . T9 mode applies gram mar rules to ensure that the correct punctuation is used.

46 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of cont rol functio ns that you can use during a cal l. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call o n hold whenever you want. Y ou can make another call while you hav e a call in progress if your network support s this service.
Options During a Call 47 When y ou w ant to finish, end each call normally by pressing the key . Switching the Microphone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’ s microphone off, so that the ot her party cannot hear you.

60 Mess ages Short Message Serv ice (SM S) allows y ou to send and receive sho rt text me ssages to and from o ther GSM mo bile phones. In ad dition, yo ur phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS), wh ich enables you to include simple picture s, melodies, and animated im ages in your messages.
Messages 61 While reading a message, you can choose the following options by pressing the Options soft key: Delet e : allows y ou to delet e the me ssage. Forward : allows you to resend the me ssag e. F or further information about how to send a message , see page 63.

80 Phone Settings Many different features of your phone can be customized to suit your preferences. A ll of these features are acce ssed in the Phone Settings menu. My Settings (Menu 4. 1) Y ou can change the background image and the display style for Menu mode according to y our prefere n ce.
Phone Settings 81 Menu Sty le (Menu 4. 1.2) This menu allows you to select the menu display style. Y o u can choose either Fold er Style or Page Style . Mor e Gr aphi cs (Men u 4. 1.3) This opt ion ope ns the WAP browser to a web site wher e you can download additional graphics.
Phone Settin gs 82 Language (Men u 4. 4) Y ou can select a display language. When the language option is set to Automatic , the languag e is auto m atically selected according to the language of the SIM card used.
Phone Settings 83 Change PI N (Menu 4.5. 2) This feature allows you to change your current PIN, provided that the PIN Chec k featu re is enab led. Y ou must enter the current PIN before you can spe cify a new one. Once you have entered a new PIN, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again.
Phone Settin gs 84 The passwor d is pres et to “0000 0000” at the f actory . Once you have entered a new password, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again. SIM Lo ck (Menu 4 .5.5) When the S IM Lock feature is enabled, your p hone only works with the current SIM .

T o assign a shortcut to a key: 1. Select the ke y to be used as a sho rtcut k ey by pressing the Up or Down key , and press the Select soft key .
89 Organizer The Organizer feature enables you to: • view the calendar and organize your schedule. • define a list of things to do . • set the current date and time. • set the alarm so that the phone rings at a specific time, such as to remind you of an appointment.
Organizer 90 Delete All : allows you to delet e all of the memos. Y ou are asked to confi rm your ac tion. Go to Date : allows you to ju mp to a specif ic date. Exit : exits the Calendar feature and returns to Idle mode. Writing a Me mo T o write or edit a memo on a specific date: 1.
Organizer 91 5. If you pressed the Yes soft key , set the time for the alarm and press the OK soft key . Y ou can also select the melody for the alarm by pressing the Melody soft key . 6. Select eith er AM or PM and press the Select soft key . Note : Y our phone is preset to use 12-hour format.
