4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes how to start using your phone by activati ng your ser vice and setting up your voice mail. Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, a plug-in SIM card is provided with your subscription d etails, such as your PIN and other optional ser vices.
Getting Started 5 Ins tal lin g the SIM Ca r d Impo rtant !: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card and keep all SIM cards out of reach of children.

12 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offe rs a set of func ti ons that can be customized for your ease and specific needs. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed using the two s oft keys. Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular f unction.

14 Send K ey The Send key is used to answer calls, dial calls, and to recall the last n umber(s) diale d, received , or missed. • Press and hold the Send key to turn on your phone. • Press once to answer calls. • Enter a number and briefly press to make a call.

Call Functions 19 Viewing Mis sed Calls The number of calls you have miss ed displ ays on the I dle screen when a call is missed. T o vi ew the number de tails, use the following steps: 1. If the phone is c losed, open t he phone. 2. Press the Vi e w soft key .

Call Functions 21 Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can pl ace the current ca ll on hold whenever you want. Y ou can also make another call while y ou hav e a call in progress i f your network supports this service. T o put a call on hol d: 1. While on a call, press the l eft soft key Options .
22 Switc hing off the Micropho ne (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’ s microphone off, so tha t the other person cannot hear you. Example: Y ou wish to say something to a person in the ro om, but do not want the person on the phone to hear you.

24 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. Th is section also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entry syst em to reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text.
Entering T ext 25 Mode Indicator When you are i n a text entr y fie ld, the text input mode indicator displays. Changing T ext Input Mode 1. Press the key . 2. Choose from the foll owing option s: • A long pre ss of the key toggles b etween ABC mo de and T9 mode .
26 4. If the word does no t display correctly , press the key to display alte rnative word choices for the keys pressed. Example: Both “Of” and “Me” ha ve the and keys. The phone displays the most commonly used choice first. 5. Insert a space by pressing the key and enter the next word.
Entering T ext 27 Ke y s Entering Symbols Symbol mode enables you to ins ert symbols and punctuation marks into text. 1. T o enter symbol mode press and hold the key . 2. T o select a symbol, press the corresponding number key . 3. T o display more sy mbols, press the Up or Down navigation key .
28 Section 6: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive dif ferent types o f messag es. It also includes the feat ures and functional ity associated with messaging.
Messaging 29 • Input Mode : allows you to ch ange the inpu t mode for you r text message. •B a c k : returns to the Messaging menu with the o ption to save the message to t he Draf ts fol der . 5. Press the Send T o soft key and enter the recipient information.
30 9. When you have finished composing your Multimedia Message, press the Send T o soft key and enter the recipient informatio n. Y ou can press Options ➔ Contact List to find the reci pient if it is in your Contact List. 10. Press the Send soft key to se nd the message.
Messaging 31 With a mul timedia message highli ghted in th e Inbox, press the Options soft key t o acces s the foll owing options : • Vi e w : allows you to view the message. • Reply vi a : allows you to reply to this m essage via T ext Message or Multimedia Message.
32 3. Select the m essage folders yo u want to empty by using the Naviga tion keys to highlight the folder and press the Select soft ke y or the ke y to mark the folder for deleti on. Note: T o delete all of the messa ges in all folders, select All Messages .
Messaging 33 5. Fill in all the appropri ate fields and press the Sign In soft key or the key . 6. Agree to th e terms and conditions of use for this service and press t he I Accept soft key o r the key . 7. Follow the on-screen instru ctions to read, reply to, compose, send, and ma nage your Instant Messaging account.
34 Message Sett ings Y ou can set up vario us options for using messaging services. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Messaging ➔ Messaging Settings . 2. Press the Select soft key or the key . • T ext Messa ge : – Send Settings : allows you to set the options for se nding text messages.
Messaging 35 Used Space The Used Space option display s the memory used for various types of me ssages displ ayed as well as the a vailabl e or remaining memor y . 1. When the Idle screen displays, press Me nu ➔ Messaging ➔ Used Space , and press the Select soft key or the key .
36 Section 7: Understanding Y our Ad dress Book This section allows you to manage your daily contacts by storing their name and number in your Address Book. Address Book entries can be sorted by name, or entry . Using Contact List Tip : From the Idle screen, press the Down Naviga tion key to access the Contact List.

42 4. The Copy Successful screen displays. Press the OK soft key . 5. Press the key to return to th e Idle screen. Copy an entr y to t he Phon e Y ou can copy a SI M entry to the Phone by using t he Duplicate option. When you copy entries to the phone, duplicate entries are created.

44 Sound Settings This list describes the sou nd settings for the following categories (tabs): • Call : – Call Aler t T ype : allows you to sele ct the way in w hich the selected ringtone is pla yed when a call comes in on the phone. • Melody : the phon e sounds the selected melo dy .

Changing Y our Settings 47 Time & Date This menu allows you to change the current time and date displayed. Y ou can also find out what time it is in another part of the world. Note: Before setting the time, you must specify your time zone in the World time menu.
48 Langua g e Y ou can select a displ ay language. When the language option is set to Automatic , the languag e is automa tically selecte d according to the language of the SIM card used. Depending on your countr y , se rv ice provider , or the software version of the phone, the Auto matic option may not display .
Changing Y our Settings 49 Loc k SIM C ard When the SIM Lock f eature is enab led, your phone only works with the current SIM. Y ou must ente r the SIM lock code to unl ock the SIM so you can use a differen t SIM card. The first time you access this f eature, you wi ll be prompted to enter a new password.
50 Set FDN Mode FDN (Fixed Dialing Number) mode, if supported by your SIM card, restricts your outgoin g calls to a limited set of phone numbers. When this feature is enabled, you can make calls only to phone numbers stored in the FDN list on the SIM card.

54 Call W aiting This network ser vice informs yo u when someone is trying to reach you during another call. Y ou can specify individual call wa iting opti ons for voice calls o r data calls. T o set your ca ll waitin g options : 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Calls ➔ Vo i c e C a ll ➔ Call Waiting .
