Y our Pho ne 14 Key (s) Descripti on (soft keys) Perf orms the functions indicated b y the screen text above them , on the bottom line of the displa y . In Menu mode, scrolls through the menu options and Phonebook. In Idle m ode, allows you to access y our fa vorite menu options directly .
Y our Phone 15 Deletes ch aracte rs from the display . In Menu mode, returns you to t he previous menu level. Makes or answers a call. In Idle mode, recalls the most recent number dialed or received w hen held down. Ends a call. Also switches the phone on and off when held down.
Y our Pho ne 16 Displ ay Display Layout The display has three areas: (on the left side of the phone) During a call, adjust the earpiece volume. In Idle mode, w ith the phone op en, adjusts the keyp ad tone v olume. With the pho n e closed, tur ns the exter nal display on when hel d down.
Y our Phone 17 Middle lines Displays messages, instructions, and an y informat ion that you e nter , such as the number you are dialing. Last line Shows the current func ti ons assigned to the two soft k eys.
Y our Pho ne 18 Icons Icon Description Shows the received signal strength. The greater th e number of bars, the stronger the signal. Appears when a call is in progress. Appears when y ou are out of your ser vice area. When it displays, you cannot mak e or receive a call.
Y our Phone 19 Backlight The backli ght illumin ates the display and the keypad. Whe n you press any key or open the phone, the backlight comes on. It goes off when no keys are pressed within a given period of time, depending on the setting in the Back light menu ( Menu 9.
Y our Pho ne 20 Y ou can select the image to be displayed in the Sub LCD menu ( Menu 9.3.2 ). See page 130 for further details. T o turn the display on w hen the phone is closed, press and hold one of the V olume keys on the left side of the phone. Service Light The service light is a circular li ght around the Navigation keys.
Getting S tarted 21 Getting Started Installing th e SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with y o ur subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services available and so on.
Getting S tarted 22 Make sure the gold colored conta c ts of the card face into the phone. Note: When you need to remov e t he SIM card, slide it upwards, as shown, and tak e i t out of the sock et. 4. Replace the battery, by carefully matching the tabs on the battery with the grooves on the phone.
Getting S tarted 23 5. Slide the battery towards the top of the phone until it clicks i nto place. Make sure that the battery is properly installed before switching the power on. Charging the Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li-i on battery .
Getting S tarted 24 2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC wall outlet. 3. When charging is finished, u nplug the adapter from the power outlet and disconnect it from the phone by pressing the buttons on both sides of the connector and pulling the connector out.
Getting S tarted 25 • Y our memory card m ay be ejected from the card slot if your phone is jolted. Be careful not to lose the multimedia card. T o install a multimedia card , slide the multimed ia card into the slot located on the right side of the phone .
Getting S tarted 26 Switch ing On or Off th e Phone 1. Open the p hone. 2. Press and hold the key until the phone switches on. 3. If the phone asks you to enter a passwo rd, enter the pass word and press the OK soft key or key. The password is preset to “00000000” at the factory.
Call Functions 27 Call Functions Making a Call When the idle screen displays, enter the area code and phone number , then press the key . Note: When you activ ate the Auto r edia l option in the Extra settings menu ( Menu 9.2.5 ), the phone automatically re dials up to ten times if the person does not answer the call or is already on the phone.
Call Functions 28 Redialing the Last Number The phone stores the numbers of the calls you’ve diale d, received, or missed, if the call re cipient or caller is identified. See “Call Records” on page 65 for further details. T o recall any of th ese numbers: 1.
Call Functions 29 Dialling a Number from the Phonebook Once you hav e stored phone numbers in Phonebook, you can dial them easily and quickly by using the location numbers that were assig ned to them . If you cannot remember a location number , you must go into the Search menu to search for the entry by name.
Call Functions 30 Adjusting the Volum e During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiece v o lume, use the V olume keys on the left side of the phone. Press the key to increase the volume level and the key to decrease the lev el. In Idle mode, you can also adjust the k eypad tone volume using these keys.
Call Functions 31 Note: T o reject the call, press and hold one of the Vo lume keys before opening the ph one, or press the Reject soft key or key . 2. End the call by closin g the phone or pressing the key. Note: Y ou can answer a call while using Phoneb ook or menu features.

Call Functions 33 T o exit and reactivate the previous sound settings, from the Idle screen press and hold the key again until “Exit silent mode” appears. The Vibration icon ( ) no longer di splays. Note: Activating Silent mode will not turn off the camer a shutter sound.

Selecting Functions and Options 35 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow s customization. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed using the two soft keys, and . Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.
Selecting Functions and Options 36 Selecting Optio ns T o view the v arious functions and options av ailable and to select the one you want: 1. Press the appropriate soft k ey . In some functions, you may be aske d for a password or PIN. Enter the code and press the OK soft k ey or key .
Entering T ext 37 Entering Text When using your phone, you will often need to enter text, such as when storing a nam e in Phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calend ar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’s keypad.
Entering T ext 38 Changing the Text Input Mode When you are in a field that allows characters to be entered, you will notice the text input mode indicato r on the display . Example : W riting a text message Note: Additional text input modes may be available , depending on your country .
Entering T ext 39 T o enter a word in T9 mode: 1. When you are in T9 mode, start entering a word by pressing the 2 to 9 keys. Press each k ey only once for each letter . Example : T o enter “HELLO” in T9 mode, press the 4 , 3 , 5 , 5 , and 6 keys.

Options During a Call 43 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on H old Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can mak e another call wh ile you have a ca ll in progress if y our network supports this service.
O pt i o n s D u r in g a C a l l 44 Using the Menu Functi ons Y ou can access the main me nu functions during a call. 1. Press the Options soft key or key . 2. Press the OK soft key or key when the Menu option highlights. 3. Press the Up or Down key to scroll through the menu list.
Options During a Call 45 The other person can hear you again. Muting or Sending Key Tones These options allow you to turn the k ey tones off or on. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does.

Making a Multi-party C all A multi-party call is a network service that allows up to six people to take part simu ltaneo usly in a mult i-part y or conference call.

The other participants can still converse with each other . 4. To return to the multi-party call, press the Options soft key and select t he Join option.
Phonebook 49 Phonebook Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in both your SIM car d and you r phone’s memories . They are physically separate but are used as a single entity , called Phonebook. Notes: • Depending on your particular SIM card, the maximum number of phone numbers the SIM ca r d can store ma y differ .
Phonebook 50 Using Phonebook entry options While accessing any Phonebook ent ry , press the Optio ns soft key or key to access the options for the entry .
Phonebook 51 Caller group : allows you to organize your Phonebook entries in caller groups so that the phone alerts y ou in a specific way when a person from o ne of your groups calls you. Select one of the ten groups av ailable. T o remove an entry from a gro up, select the No group option .
Phonebook 52 Group search Y ou can search Phonebook entries by a group. 1. Enter the first few letters of the group name that you w ant to find. The caller groups are listed, starting with the first gro up matching your input. 2. If necessary, scroll to a grou p by pressing the Up or Down key and press the View soft key or key.
Phonebook 53 Call ring tone : allows you to set a ring tone to be used when you rece ive a voice call from a memb er of that gr oup. SMS tone : allows you to set a ring tone to be used when you receive a message f rom a member of that group.
Phonebook 54 Once you hav e assigned a number to the k ey , you can access the foll owing o ptions by pressi ng the Options soft k ey or key: Change : allows you to assign a different numb e r to the key . Delete : allows you to clear the setting so that no numb e r is assigned to the key .
Phonebook 55 Memory status Y ou can check how many names and numbers are stored in Phonebook, in both the SIM card and t he phone’s memory . Press the Up or Down ke y to view the number of entries you stored and the total number of the entries y ou can store in the SIM card and the phone’ s memory .

Using the Menus 57 Using the Menus The phone offers a range of functions that allow y ou to tailor it to your needs. These functions are arra n ged in menus and sub- menus. The menus and sub-menus can be accessed by scrolling or by using the shortcuts.

V oice Messages 63 Voice Messages In this menu, you can record a voice memo of up to 30 seconds and then immediately send it by a MMS (Multimedia Message Service) message. When you access this menu, a timer appears on the screen. 1. Press the Record soft key or key to start recording.
V oice Messages 64 6. When the correct number or address displays, press the Sele ct soft key. 7. To add a destination, select Add destination and p ress the Select soft key or the t key. Repeat from step 4 and 6. You can enter up to 10 destinations. If you want to edit the destin ations, select one and press the Sele ct soft key or the key .
Call Reco rds 65 Call Records In this menu, you can view the: ● calls you missed, incoming, or outgoing. ● length of your c alls. Notes: • Y ou can access the call records of all 3 types of calls by pressing the key in Idle mode. • The number of call r ecords the phone can store may vary , depending on your SIM card.
Call Records 66 Edit: allows you to e dit the number , if availa ble, and dial it or Save it in Phonebook. Delete: deletes the selected call from the list. Y ou can also dial the number by pressing the key . Outg oing ca lls This menu lets you view the 20 most recent calls yo u dialed.
Call Reco rds 67 2. When a confirmation message displays, press the Yes soft key or key to confirm. 3. When the phone asks for c onfirmation again, press the Yes soft key or key . Call time This menu lets you view the tim e log for calls made and received.

Applications 69 Applications Y our phone provides you with functions as an MP3 player or a voice recorder . MP3 player Y ou can enjoy m usic using your phone as an MP3 play er . Y ou first need to download MP3 music files to your phone’ s memory or to a multimedia card.
Applications 70 Delete : allows y ou to delete the file(s). Properties : shows you information about t he file(s). Copy to MMC : allows you to m ove the file(s) from the phone's memory to an opt ional multimed ia card. This option is only available for MP3 files stored i n the phone's memory .
Applications 71 Sort ing : allows you to chang e the sort orde r of the file list. Memory status : shows the T otal, Used, and Free memory amounts for Photos, Videos, and MP3s, collectively . Press the Next soft key to view m emory spac e in use for P hotos, and for Videos and for MP3s individually .
Applications 72 5. Press the C key to clear the d efault name, i f necessary, and enter a name f or the memo. Fo r further d etails about ho w to enter char acters, see page 37 . 6. Press the OK soft key or key. The memo is saved and then the displa y shows the memo infor mati on.

t-zones 75 t-zones Y our phone is equipped with a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser to allow yo u to access and navigate the Wireless W eb us ing your ph one. Home Selecting this menu connects the phone to the network and loads the homepage of the Wireless W eb service provider .

t-zones 78 Favorite This menu allows you to store the URL addresses of up to ten of your fav orite web sites. T o store a URL address: 1. Select an empty locatio n and press the Options soft key or key . 2. Enter the address and press the Enter soft key or key.
Messages 79 Messages Using th e Messages menu, you can use various message features, such as: ● Te x t m e s s a g e s ● Picture messages ● Browser messa ges ● Vo i c e m a i l ● Broadcast messages. Text messages Short Message Service (SMS) allows y ou to send and receive short text messages to and from other GSM mobile phones.
Messages 80 Send only : allows you to send the message. The message is then deleted after sending. Save and send : allows you to first save a copy o f the message and then sends the message. Y ou can read the message in your Outbox. Save only : allows you to save the message to be sent at a later time.
Messages 81 These attributes can be combined. Add content : allows you to add a sound , melody , picture, or animated image to the message. Select t he category of the content to be added. In each category , you can select from the vario us factory -set items or choos e an item receiv ed from other sources, such as the Internet or other phones.
Messages 82 While reading a message, y ou can choose the following options by press ing th e Optio ns soft key or ke y: Text repl y : allows you to send a reply to the sender . Forward: allows you to forward this me ssage to another phone. Delete : allows y ou to del ete the message .
Messages 83 While reading a message, y ou can choose the following options by press ing th e Optio ns soft key or ke y: Delete : allows y ou to del ete the message . Send : allows you to send/r esend the message. For further details about how to send a message, see page 79 .
Messages 84 Delete : allows y ou to delete the message template. Y ou are asked to confirm the deletion by pressing the Yes soft key or key . Settings In this menu, you can set up default message information. A setting group is a collection of settings required to send messages.
Messages 85 R eply path : allows the recipient of your message to send you a reply through your message center , if your network supports this service. Delivery reports : allows you to activate or deactivate the report function. When this function is activ ated, the network informs you whether or not your message has been delivered.
Messages 86 Memory status This menu shows the memory s tatus and how many me ssages are currently stored in th e SIM and phone’ s memories. Press the Up or Down key to view the number of messages you stored and the total number of messages you can st ore in the SIM and phone’s memories.
Messages 87 Add my photo : allows you to add a photo . Y ou can take a new photo or select one of photos. Add my video : allows you to add a video. Y ou can record a new video or select one of videos. Add picture : allows you to add an image. Y ou can add downloaded images if they are in the correct format and your service provider supports them.
Messages 88 4. To change the text or re place the image or soun d with another one, select an item and pre ss the Options soft key or the key . You can access the following options: Edit text/i mage/picture/sound/video : allow s you to change the text or replace th e image or sound with another one.
Messages 89 Recent log: allows you to select a number or an address from the 10 last destinations you entered fo r sending the last messages . Phone number : allows you to enter the phone number you want . E-Mail : allows y ou to enter the e-mail add ress of the recipient.
Messages 90 SentMsg Autodelet e : you can set this option to autom atically delete the message once it has been sent. Inbox Viewing a message when you receive it When a new multimedia messag e comes in, the display shows the MMS Message icon ( ) and a text notification alon g with the send er’s numb er .
Messages 91 Phonebook, or subjects. The ic ons on the left tell you t he status of the messages: : Messages that have been opened. : Messages you requested from to the MMS serv er . : Messages the phone is retrie ving from the MMS ser ver . : Messages the phone couldn’t retrieve.
Messages 92 Save addr ess : allows you to extr act the sender’s number or e- mail address and URL, ot her e-mail addresses or phone numbers from t he message text.
Messages 93 Save address : allows you to extract the destinati on numbers or e-mail addresses and URL, e-mail addresses or ph one numbers from t he message text. Send : allows you to send/ resend the message. Edit message : allows you to change the message contents, sound, photo, or text.
Messages 94 Delete All This menu allows you to delete multi media me ssages at once or all in each mes sage box sele cted. 1. Press the Delete soft key to delete the marked messages. 2. When a confirmation message displays, press the Yes soft key or the key to confirm.
Messages 95 Receive : allows you to set whether or not your phone receives web messages. Choose from Never or Always . Delete all : allows y ou to delete all of the web messages. Voice mail This menu allows you to access your voice mailbox, if your network supports this service.
Messages 96 The following optio ns are av ailable: Read : lets you view the recei ved message. The Volatile box displays the messages from the netwo r k, but loses its contents as soon as the p hone is switched off . Scroll through the message by using the Up and Down keys.
Funbox 97 Funbox The Funbox menu stores games, images, and sounds downloaded from the Wirel ess W eb. Games Y ou can download games and MIDlets (Java applications that run on mobile phones) from various sources using the WAP Browser and store them in your phone.
Funbox 98 HIGH S CORE : shows the high score table. This option m ay not be availabl e for some g ames. HOW TO PL AY : shows how to play the gam e and the key functions for the game. OPTION : allows you to switch the game sound on or off . 3. Press the key to confirm your selection.
Funbox 99 Upper-ca se character mode ( A ): allows y ou to enter upp er- case English characters. Lower-case cha racter mo de ( a ): allows yo u to enter lowe r- case English characters. Number mode ( 1 ): allows you to enter numbers. Symb ol mod e : allows y ou to enter symb ols.
Funbox 100 4. Select Start G ame using the Up or Down key, the 2 or 8 key, and press the 5 or key. To use the following options, select Option . Press th e Up or Down ke y, or the 2 or 8 key to scroll to an option and change the setting using the 5 or key.
Funbox 101 DIFFICULTY : allows you to change the gam e‘s level of diffi culty . SOUND ON /OFF : allows you to turn the game sound on or off . GRAPHIC EFFECT : allows you to change the gr aphic effects. EXIT OPTION : allows you to exit the current screen.
Funbox 102 1. Scroll to the sound you w ant to listen to and press the Play soft key or key . 2. Press the Options soft key or key, to access the following options : Rename : allows you to change the name of the sound. Delete : deletes the sound. Set as ring tone : sets the sound as yo ur ring tone.
Funbox 103 downloaded videos as the current background image or send them to other phones. 1. Scroll to the image you want to view and press the View soft key or key . 2. Press the Options soft key or key, you can access the following options: Rename : allows yo u to change the n ame of the ima ge.
Funbox 104 Memory Status Y ou can check the amount of memory being used and the memory remaini ng for Games , Sounds, I mages and Videos . Games When you select this menu, you can view the T otal, Used, and Free memory , and also number of games you downloaded.
Organizer 105 Organizer The Organizer feature enables you to: ● set an alarm so that the phone rings at a spec ific time, for example, to remind you of an appointment. ● view the calen dar and or ganize your sc hedule. ● define a list of things to do.
Organizer 106 • Remove alarm : deactiv ates the current alarm. • Alarm sound set : allows you to select the alarm melody . 3. Press the key. 4. If applicable, select AM or PM and press the Select soft key or key.
Organizer 107 Go to da te : allows y ou to go to a specific date. New memo : allows you to add a new memo. Writing a memo Y ou can make up to 100 memos. T o write or edit a memo on a specific dat e: 1. Select a date on the calendar by pressing the Navigation k eys.
Organizer 108 Viewing a memo When you select a day on which mor e than one memo exists, the latest memo for that day disp lays. In that case, press the Up or D own key to scroll to the previous or next memo. Y ou can access the following options by pressing the Options soft key or the key: New : allows you to add a new memo.

Editing the To do list When you select the To do lis t menu ( Menu 7.3 ), the current contents display with a check mark, indicating whether a task has been done, an d its priority lev el; for Hig h, for Normal, and for Low .
