6 Section 1 Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provide d with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, su ch as your PIN, any optional services available, and many others.

22 Section 3 Making a Call When the idle screen displays, enter the ar ea cod e and phone number , and press the key . Note: When you activate the Auto redial option in the Extra settings menu, the phone will automat ically redia l up to 10 times when the person does not answer the call or is already on the phone.

26 Section 3 Viewing Missed Calls When you ar e unable to answer a call for any re ason, you can find out who is calling you, i f this servi ce is available, so that you can call the person back. The number of calls yo u have missed disp lays on the idle screen immediately after a call is missed.

Example: Y ou wish to s ay someth ing to a person in the room but do not want the person on the phone to hear you.
32 Section 3 Muting or Sending Ke y T ones These options allow you to turn the ke y tones off or on. If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does not transmit the DTMF (Dual T one Multi-Freque ncy) tones of the keys, which allows you to press keys without hearing annoying ke y tones during a call.

Y ou are notified of an incomi ng call by a call waiting tone.

48 Section 5 Changing the T ext Input Mode When using your ph one, you wi ll often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in your Phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’s keypad.

Please contact your service provider fo r further details. Settings In this menu, you can set up defaul t text message and pictur e message info rmat ion.
Section 7: Messaging 81 Settings Section 7 When you select Uni-code, the maximum number of characters which can be in a message is r educed to approximately half. If your recipient’ s phone does not support Uni-code characters, he/she may not be able to rea d you r message co r r ectly .
82 Section 7 Memor y Status Y ou can check the amount of the memory being used and the memory remaining for text messages and picture messages. The display shows the total space including the use d and free space. Y ou can als o view how much space is currently occupied by each mess age box.

Section 8 84 Time & Date This menu allows you to chan ge the current time and date displayed. Y ou can also find out what time it is in anothe r part of the wor d. The following options ar e available: • Set date : allows you to enter the month, day , and year .

Section 8: Changing Y our Settings 89 Get More He lp Section 8 • Indicative tones: sets whether or not the phone informs you when you have made a mistake. • Minute minder: sets whet her or not the phone beeps every minute during an outgoing call to keep you i nformed of the length of your call.
Section 8 90 PIN Check When the PIN Check feature is e nabled, you must enter your PIN each time you switch on the phone. Consequently , any person who does not have your PIN cannot use your phone without your approval. Note: Before disabling the PIN Check fe ature, you must enter your PIN.
Section 8: Changing Y our Settings 91 Security Settings Section 8 The following options ar e available: • Disable: you are not asked to enter the phone password when you switch on the phone. • Enable: you are required to en ter the phone password when you switch on the phone.
Section 8 92 Note: The passwor d is preset t o “00000000” at the factory . T o change this password , see "Change Passwor d" on page 91. SIM Lock When the SIM Lock featur e is enable d, your phone only works with the current SIM. Y ou must enter the SIM lock code to unlock the SIM so you can use a differ ent SIM card.
Section 8: Changing Y our Settings 93 Extra Settings Section 8 Change PIN2 The Change PIN2 feature allows you to change your current PIN2 to a new one. Y ou must enter the current PIN2 before you can specify a new one. Once y ou have entered a new PIN2, you ar e asked to confirm it by entering it again.
Section 8 94 Reject soft key . T o reject the call, press the key or the Reject soft key . When this opti on is unchecked, you must press the key or Accept soft key to answer a call. Reset Settings From this menu yo u can r e set your phone and sound settings to the default settings.

T o set your call forwarding options: 1. Select a call forw arding option by pressing the Up or Down key and then press the Select soft key or the key .

When you select No reply in step 1, select the length of time the network waits for before forwardi ng a call.

100 Section 9 Alarm This featur e allows you to: • set the alarm to ring at a specific time. • set the phone to switch on automatically and ring the alarm even if the phone is switched off. The following options ar e available: • Wake-up Call: the alar m rings to wake you up in the morning.
