Y our Phone 14 Makes or answe rs a c all. When held down in idle mode, recalls the last numbers dialed or received . In the menu facility , selects a menu functi on or stores information that you have entered (such as a name) in the phone or SIM memory .
Display 15 Display Display Layout The display is comprised of three areas. Area Description First line Displa ys v ar ious icon s (see page 16). Middle lines Display messages, instructions and any information that you enter (number to be dialed, for example).
Display 16 Icons Icon Descrip tion Shows the receiv ed signal stre ngth. The gre ater the number of bars, the better the signa l strength. Appears when a call is in progress. Appears when the Silent mode is active or you set the Alert Type menu option (“Alert type” on page 76 ), so that the ph one vibrates when you r eceive a call .
Display 17 Backlight The display is illuminated by a backlight. When yo u press any key , the backlight illuminates. Getting S tarted 18 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with y o ur subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services available and so on.

Getting S tarted 22 Low Battery Indica tor When the battery is weak and only a few minutes of talk time remain, you will hear a warning tone and a message will be repeated at regular intervals on the display: When the battery becomes too weak f or the phone to ope rate, it switches off automatically .

Call Functions 25 Redialing th e Las t Number The phone stores the numbers you dialed, received or missed.T o recall any of these numbers, proceed as follows. 1. If you have typed any charact ers on the display , clear the display by holding down the key for m ore than one second.
Call Functions 26 In idle mode, you can adjust the k ey volume using the and keys . Answering a Call When somebody calls you, the phone rings and the following screen appears on each display . If the call er can be identif ied, the caller ’s phone number or name, if stored in y ou r phon e bo ok, is disp layed.

Selecting Functions and Options 29 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functi ons that allow you to customize your phone. These functions are arranged in menus and sub- menus, accessed via the two soft keys m arked and . Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.

Phonebook 31 Phonebook Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in the memory of your SIM card. In addition, you can store up to 1000 numbers in the phone memory . The SIM card and phone memories, although physically separ ate, are used as if they were a single entit y , called the phonebook.
Phonebook 32 6. Enter a name and press the OK soft k ey . The maximum length of a name depends on your SIM car d. For information on how to en ter characters, see page 41.
Phonebook 33 Using Phonebook Entry Options While accessing any phonebook entry , press the Options soft key to access the option s for the entry . The following optio ns are available. ● Paste : allows y ou to paste the selected number into the normal dialing m ode.
Phonebook 34 ● Add Entry : allows you to add a new number in a different category (mo bile, work, home or E -mail) to the currently selected name. A phonebook entry or name can contain up to four numbers, one in each category .

Entering T ext 39 Entering Text When using your phone, you will often need to enter text. For example, when storing a name in the phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events in y our calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric char acters by using yo ur phone’ s keyp ad .
Entering T ext 40 Using the T9 Mode The T9 predictive text input mode allows you to ke y in an y character using single k eystrokes. This text input mode is based on a built - in dic tion ary . 1. When you are in the T9 predictive text input mode, start entering a word by pressing ke ys 2 to 9 .

In-Call Options 43 In-Call Options Y our phone pro vides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can mak e an othe r ca ll whi le y ou ha v e a call in progress if this service is supported by the netw or k.
In-Call Options 44 Switching the Microphone Off (Mute) Y ou can tempor arily switch your phone’s m icrophone off , so that the other party cannot hear you. Example : Y ou wish to say something to another person in the room but do not w ant the other party to hear you.
In-Call Options 45 This option is helpful for entering a password or an account number w hen you ca ll an automa ted sy stem, l ike a ba nking service. T o send the DTMF tones: 1. When you are connected to the teleservice system, press the Options soft key .

Using the Menus 49 Using the Menus The phone offers a range of functions that allow y ou to tail or the phone to your needs. These functions are arr anged in menus and sub-menus. The menus and sub-menus can be accessed by scrolling with the navigation k eys or by using the shortcuts .

T ext Messages 56 Text Messages The SMS (Short Message Service) function is a network service and may not be supported by yo ur network. Messages can be sent by text, fax, Email and paging messaging systems, provide d that these servi ces a re supp orted by your networ k.
T ext Messages 57 Text Reply (inbox only): allows you to reply to the sender by sending a text message. Y ou can also change the S MS center number , if require d. Delete : allows yo u to delete obsolete m essages. Forward : allows you to forward the message content to another number .
T ext Messages 58 Sen d on ly : allows you to send the message. The message will be deleted after sen din g . Save and send : allows you to s ave a copy o f the message and then send the message to the req uired de stination. Y ou can read the message in your outbox using the Read Messages option.

T ext Messages 64 Voice mail This menu provides you with a way of accessing y our voice mailbox (if provided by y our netw ork). The following optio ns are available. Call voice mail : before using this feature, you must enter the voice server number obtained from your service provider (see menu opti on 1.
T ext Messages 65 Read : lets you view the m ess age. Volatile display s the messages from the network, but lo ses its contents as soon as the phone is switched off . Sc roll through the message by using the a nd keys. While reading a message, press the Save soft key to store the message in the Archive box for later retrieval.
Picture messages 66 Picture messages Multimed ia Mess age Servic e (MMS ) is a messaging service very similar to Short Message Service (SMS). It pro vides autom at ic and imm ediate deliv ery of personal multimedia messages from phone to phone or from phone to e-mail.
Picture messages 67 Add sound : allows you to add a sound. Y ou can record a new voice memo or use a sound stored in the Sounds folder in the Funbox menu option. Send : allows yo u to send the me ssage. Use this opti on when you finish creating the message.
Picture messages 68 Duration : allows you to set how long one page displays. After a specified le ngth of ti m e, the displa y scrolls to the next pa ge. Send : allows you to send the message. Save : saves the message in the Draf t or Templates box for later use.
Picture messages 69 11. Repeat steps 7 to 10. Y ou can enter up to 10 destinations. If you want to edit the d estinations, select one and press the Select soft key . Y ou can change or d e le te it . When you are finished entering the destinations, select Send Message and press the Selec t soft key .

Picture messages 72 Draft After creating a picture message, you can store it in this message box for later sending. F o r further details about viewing a message, see “Outbo x” on page 71. Templates This menu option stores up to nine mes sages you saved as templates.
Call records 73 Call records This menu provides information for the following call records: ● Misse d ● Re c e i ve d ● Dialed ● Call time Note: Y ou ca n access al l numbers i n the three types of call r ecords by pressing the key in idle mode.
Call records 74 Outgoing calls This option lets you view the last 20 numbers dialed . The number and name, if a vailable, are displayed, together with the date and time at which the call w as made.
Call records 75 Note: The actual time inv oiced for calls by your s ervice pro vider may vary , depending on network features, rounding-off for billing purposes and so forth.
Sound settings 76 Sound settings Y ou can use the Sound Settings feature to customise various settings, such as the: ● Ring melody , volume and type ● Sounds made when you p ress a key , make an error or receive a message Ring tone This option allow s you to sele ct the req uired ring mel ody .
Sound settings 77 Vibra+M elody : the phone first vibrates three times and then starts ringing. Keypad tone This option allow s you to se lect the tone th at the keypad generates w hen you pr ess a key . The following optio ns are available. Off : the keys do not make an y sound.
Sound settings 78 SMS-CB tone This option allows yo u to select how the phone informs you that a new cell broadcast (CB) message has been receiv ed . The following optio ns are available. OFF : the phone does not use the CB tone. Vibrat ion : the phone vibr ates.
Sound settings 79 Power On/Off Use this o ption to cho se the sound y ou prefer when turning your phone on or off . Three options are Off , Classical , and Cheerful . Extra tones Y ou can customise various other tones used by the phone. The following optio ns are available.
Phone settings 80 Phone settings Many different features of your phone can be custom ised to suit your p references. All of thes e features are accessed via the Phone sett ings menu. Display settings Y ou can change the background image and the color of the components in the display a ccording to yo ur preference.
Phone settings 81 Auto key l ock When the Auto Key Lock feature is enabled, t he phone keypad is locked and you must press the Unlock soft key then pres s the key . The p hone di splays Keypad active. If you wi sh to keep your ph one unl ocked, yo u must go into the settings and change the option to Off .
Phone settings 82 15 Second s : the backlight comes on when you press a key or receive a call and switches off 15 seconds after the last key is presse d. 30 Seconds : the backlight comes on when you press a key or receive a call and switches off 30 seconds after the last key is presse d.

Own number This feature allows you to: ● Assign a name to each of your own phone numbers registered on your SIM card ● Edit the names and numbers This function is a memory aid, which you can use to check your own phone numbers if you need to do so.
Phone settings 84 PIN check When the PIN Check feature is enabled, you must enter your PIN each time you swi tch the phone on. Consequent ly , any person who does not have your PIN cannot use your phone without your approval. Note: Before disabling the PIN Check feature, you mus t enter y our PIN.
Phone settings 85 Disable : you are not asked to en ter the phone password w hen you s wi tc h th e p ho ne o n. Enable : you are required to enter the phone password when you s wi tc h th e p ho ne o n. Change password The Change Passw ord feature allows you to change your current phone password to a new one.
Phone settings 86 Once you hav e entered a new PIN2, yo u are asked to co nfirm it by entering it again. Note: Not all SIM cards hav e a PIN2. If your S IM card does not, this menu option is not displayed. Extra settings Y ou can turn the automatic redialing or answering features on or off.

Organizer 91 Edit: allows yo u to edit the m emo. Alarm : allows you to set the alarm to ring on the chosen day . Delete : allows y ou to delete the memo . Copy to : allows yo u to copy the me mo to another d ate and/or time. Move to : allows y ou to change the date and/or tim e of the memo.
Organizer 92 1. Select the city corresponding to y our time zone by pressing the and key one or more times. The local date and time are displa yed. 2. Press the Set soft k ey . Time format : allows you to change the time format to 24 Hour s or 12 Hours .

Organizer 95 Voice memo V oice Memo allows you to record voice m essages for your convenience. The following opti ons are available. Currency exchange Using this menu option, you can mak e currency conversions. To... Then... Record Highlight Record to begin recording.
Organizer 96 1. Enter the current exchange rate of your source currency and press the OK soft k ey . Y ou can insert a decimal point by pressing the key . 2. Enter the amount for which you wish to conduct the currency conversion and press the OK soft key .
Network Services 97 Network Services These menu functions are network services. Please contact your service prov ider to check their av ailability and subs cribe to them, if y ou so wish. Call forwarding This network service enables incoming calls to be rerouted to the number that you specify .

Funbox 103 Sounds In this menu, you can view the list of sounds downloaded from the server . Y ou can set the downloaded sounds as the current ring tone, but cannot send the sounds to other phones. When the m e m ory is fu ll, a w arning messa ge is d ispla y ed and the phone rejects additional so unds until you erase obsolete ones.
AIM 104 AIM With the AOL Instant Message option, y ou can send instant messages usin g your ph one. You must alr eady have an established AIM Screen name and password to access the AIM menu. If you do not, y ou can get one free from www . aim.com. Once th is is setu p, u se the following steps: Sign on 1.
AIM 105 Add Buddy : This option allows you to add another AIM user to the conv ersation. Delete buddy : This option delete s the selected budd y from your buddy list. Decline IMs : This option blocks an y messages from the bud dy you have selected. Alert me : This option sets an alert for the buddy when they have activity on their session.
