5 Use the T rav el Ada pter The travel ada pter inc luded with your phone is a convenie nt, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phone from any 120/220 V AC outl et. 1. Plug the larg e end of the T ravel Adapter into a st andard 120 V AC or 220 V AC wall outlet.
Getting Started 6 Install the Batter y Note: Y our phone comes packaged with a partiall y charged rechargeable standard Li-Ion batter y and travel adapter . Impo rtant !: Y ou must fully charge the batter y the first time you use your phone, otherwise you could damage the batter y .
7 T ur n Y our Ph one On 1. Open the flip on your phone, as shown. 2. Press . Note: As with any other radio-transmitting device, do not touch the antenna while using your phone as this can affect call quality and can cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than is necessary .

Y ou ca n install a microSD ™ card to provide additional memory for storing files (such as, sound files and photos) in your phone.
9 Section 2: Understanding Y our Phone This section outlines some key features of your phone. It also describes the screen format and th e icons that will b e displayed when the phone is in use. 11 Features 1. Earpiece/Speaker — Lets you hear the other ca ller , ringtones, alerts, alar ms , and music and videos. 2. Main Display — Indicates the status of your phone, includin g numbers dialed, feat ure an d func tion sc reens , status icons, message indicato rs, signal strength, and so on.
Understanding Y our Phone 12 Command K eys Functions for the soft keys are defined by what appears above each in the display . There are two soft keys, the Left sof t key ( ) and the Right soft key ( ). Left So ft K ey Some funct ions of the Le ft soft key are as foll ows.
13 SEND K ey The SEND key ( ) is used to a nswer calls, dial ca lls, and to recall the last number(s) dialed, received, or missed. 1. Press once t o answer calls. 2. Enter a number and briefly press to make a call. 3. Briefly press in standby mo de to display a list of recent calls to an d from your phone.

15 Y our Phone’s Modes Call Ans wer Mode Y ou can select ho w you wish to answer a call. 1. In standby mode, press the Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Call Settings ➔ Call Answer . The foll owing call answe r options appe ar in the display: •A n y K e y — Pressing any key except or answers a call.
Understanding Y our Phone 16 • Vi e w N o w — Lets you view the message now . • V iew Later — Lets you v iew the message at a later time. T alk Mode Y ou can place and rece ive calls only when your phone is on. While in a call your phone is in tal k mode.
17 Camera Mod e Camera mode lets yo u activate your phone ’ s camera to take pictures. In Camera mo de, you can also adjust the resolution and appearance of your pictures.
Call Functions 18 Section 3: Call Functions This section explains how to make or answer a call. This section also inc ludes th e features and fun ctionalit y associated wit h making or answe ring a call. Making a Call — Number Entr y Dialing 1. With the phone on, enter the nu mber you wish to call using the keypad.
19 Man ual P ause Calling When you call automa ted system s (like banking ser vices), you are often requi red to enter a password or account number . Instead of manually entering the numbers each time, you can store the numbers in your Contacts along with special characters called pauses.
Call Functions 20 T hr ee- T o uch Dia ling Memor y locations 100 through 999 are special Three-T ouch dialing locations. Example: For Speed Dial number 113, briefly press , briefly press again, then press and hold until the name and number appear in the display and the number is dialed.
21 “ Say a Command ” appears in the display and is pronounced through the earpiece. 2. Say , “ Cal l ”. Y o u are prompted to “ Say the name or # ”. 3. Speak c learly and say the na me of a person in your Contacts list, fi rst name followed by last name.
Call Functions 22 If it recogni zes the numb er , Voice Di al repeats and di als the number . If Voice Dial is not sure it has recognized t he number , it displays a choice li st of up to three numbers and prompts you with “ Did you say? ” fo llowed by the f irst number on the list.
23 Ignoring a Call When you ig nore an incom ing call, th e call is im mediately forwarded to yo ur voice mail . 䊳 During an inco ming call, press Ignore ( ).
Call Functions 24 • Save — Save the number to your Contacts. • Details — C alls to Co ntac ts Only — Sh ows the entry for the called Contact. • Erase — Erase the sele cted ca ll from yo ur Outgoi ng call log. • Lock/Unlock — Prot ect the sele cted call from being era sed.
25 4. Press Mess age ( ). The following op tions appear in th e display: • Te x t M e s s a g e — Lets you send a text message to the sel ected calli ng numbe r . • Pictu re Message — Lets yo u send a pictur e message to the sele cted cal ling num ber .
Call Functions 26 All Calls Y ou can revi ew all of the calls lo g entries (o utgoing, inc oming, and missed calls) for the time and date of a ca ll, as well as other information. 1. In standby mo de, press the Menu soft key , then select Recent Calls ➔ All Calls .
27 • Roaming Calls — View the t otal cal ls dur ation on your phon e while roaming si nce the last erasu re. • All Calls — View the dura tion of the tot al cal l, incomi ng, outg oing, and data calls ma de on your phone sin ce the last erasure.
Call Functions 28 Roa m in g Wha t is R oam in g? Roaming le ts you use your Jet Set phon e when you travel outside of your Wirele ss Provider’ s co verage area. The Roaming icon ( ) appears in the top line of the display when Roaming is active, and ext ra charges may a ppl y when making or receivin g calls.
29 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains th e menu navi gation fo r your phone. It also includes an outline of the me nus available with your phone. Menu Na vigation Access menus using the Menu soft key , the Navigation key , the soft keys ( ), or a shortcut.
Menu Navigation 30 • Connect Bluetooth — Connect w ith a Bluetooth headse t or other Bluetooth de vice. 2. Select a m enu or feature t o open the me nu or to acti vate the fea ture. 3. T o exit this menu, press . 4. T o conduct this call hands- free, enable Speakerphone mode by pressing SPK ( ).
31 Section 5: Entering T e xt This section outlin es how to select the desired text input mode when entering characters into your ph one. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive te xt entry system to reduce the amount of key stro kes associated with entering text.
Entering T e xt 32 2. Press the key repeatedly until the desired character appears in the display (such as, pressing two times for “H”). 3. Paus e briefly and the di splayed cha racter is acc epted and inserted into your message. 4. Press to enter a space.
33 Tip : T o enter words not likely to be in the T9 Word dictionary , such as uncommon abbreviations or slang, tr y changing the text entry mode from T9 Word to Abc or ABC.
Entering T e xt 34 5. Use Prev ( ) and Next ( ) to page through the other symbols, if necessar y . 6. Press the key that corresponds with the symbol tha t you wish to ente r . F or example, pr ess for an exc lamation point (!). Note: Select a symbol to enter it into your message.
35 Section 6: Understanding Y our Contacts This section explains how to ma nage your dail y contacts by storing their name and number in y our Contacts.
Understanding Y o ur Contacts 36 4. Enter a phone number ( Mobile , Home , or Wor k ,) or an e- mail address ( E-Mail ) for the new Contacts entr y . 5. If desired, assign th e new Contact to a Group . This lets you send messages to an d find this Contact and other related contacts.
37 4. Select the number type that matches your new entry . The Add New Entry screen a ppears in the display with the number being save populating the sele cted number type field. (For more informa tion on creating a new Co ntacts entr y , see “Using the Contacts Add Option” on page 35.

Understanding Y o ur Contacts 40 Contacts ➔ Group . The Group L ist screen appears in the display . 2. Select the Group you wish to browse. The selected Group list appears in the display . 3. Highlight the desired Contacts entr y , then do on e of the following: • Press the Remove soft key to delete the sel ected contact from the Group.
41 • Press to delet e one or more numbe rs. • Press a nd hold t o clear all n umbers i n the hi ghlig hted fi eld. Note: Y ou can also add numbers (such as a Pager number or a Fax number) to the entry , assign it to a Group, and add other information.

43 2. Press the Edit soft key . The Edit Contact screen appears in the display with the contact name highligh ted. 3. Highlight a number fi eld o r e-mail fi eld in this contact entr y . 4. Enter the phone number or e- mail address for th e new Contacts entry .

45 2. Press the Options soft key , then select Era se . The phone prompts you to conf irm the erasure . 3. T o erase the sele cted Contac ts entry , press the Ye s soft key .
Messaging 46 Section 7: Messaging This section explains ho w to create, send, receive, and view different types of messages. Thi s section also describ es the features and fun ctionality a ssociated with m essaging.

51 R eceiving New Messages When you receive a message in standby mode, an alert sounds (unless turned off) and a New Message notification appears in the display al ong with the closed envelope icon ( ).
Messaging 52 Message Folders Inbo x Received messa ges of all types (e xcept Voice Mail) are stored in the Inbox . 1. Fr om the Messages menu, select Inbox , to open the Inbox folder . 2. Highlight a message, th en do one of the followin g: • Press the Erase soft key to delete the message.
53 – Extract — T ext Message only — Lets you call the o riginator of a message. Select the d esired option. • Pres s to r eturn to the Inbox list.
Messaging 54 – Save Preset Msg — Save the message text as a n ew Preset Message. – Add T o Contacts — Lets y ou add the addressee n umbers or e-mail addresses to your Contacts list. – Message Info — Let s you display status information about picture messages.
55 4. In the Te x t screen/field, do o ne of the f ollowing: • Press the Le ft soft ke y . The fol lowing opti ons appear in the di splay: – T9 W ord — Predi ctive, single k ey press per letter tex t entry mode. – Abc — Alphabetical, multiple key press tex t entry mode.
Messaging 56 • Outbox — Lets you de lete all messages fro m your Outbox. • Drafts — Lets you delete all draft messages from the Drafts folder . • All Messages — Lets you delete all messages from all message folders . 2. Select the folder containing the messages that you wish to delete.
57 Section 8: Browser This section outlines ho w to launch Browser , how to navigate to other pages on the web, a nd how the keys on the keypad are used with the web application.
Browser 58 • Simple text. Y ou can act upon options or links by using the soft keys. Browser so ft keys The bottom of the Browser displa y i s a bar that contains browser commands. The Left and Right ( ) soft keys on the keypad are used to execute th e command that appears above them in the display .
59 Section 9: Games & Apps This section explains th e Games & Apps features where users can do wnload multimedia , applica tions, games, and check news and sports. Finding Applications With Games & A pps, you can download full featured application s over the air inc luding games, personalized ring tones, pictures, and more.

63 Screen Layouts Ca me ra Scre en When you act ivate your phone’ s camera, the second li ne of the display is reser ved for the current camera resolution setting and the picture counter . Th e cent er of the display shows a vi ewfinder image of the subject at which the camera is pointed.
Camera-Camcorder 64 Zoom — Enlarg es the image from X0 to X9 before you take a picture. (Depending on the camera Resolution setting.) Brightness — Brightens or darkens the ima ge from -4 to +4. Camcor d er Scre en When you a ctivate your phone’ s camcorder , the first line of the display is shows current camcorder setting icons.
65 A picture is stored in the My Images folder . A video is stored in the My Vi d e o s folder . These folders are part of the phone’ s memor y and/or part of an optional Memory Card devoted to storing , browsing, and viewing saved pictures and v ideos.
Camera-Camcorder 66 • Mult i-s hot — 3 of the same new pict ure ta ken automa ticall y in succession / 5 of the same new picture taken automatical ly in succession. • Mosaic-shot — 4 pictures ta ken manually in a 2-by-2 array / 9 pictures taken m anually in a 3-by-3 arr ay .
67 • Pictu re I D — lets you take pictures the correct size and resol ution for Contacts list picture ID s. 3. Press . Y ou’re returned to the camera viewfinder screen. Note: The Resolution setting affects zoom capabilities. When Resolution is set to 1600x1200 , zoom is not available.
Camera-Camcorder 68 Whit e Ba la nc e White B alance allows yo u to adj ust picture qualit y according to avai lable light. 1. In camera mo de, press the Options soft key . The options menu bar appears in the display . 2. Highlight the White Balance icon ( ).
69 3. Select th e color eff ect of your choice. Y ou’re returned to the camera vi ewfinder screen. When you take your next pi cture, the phon e’ s display previews your subject ima ge with the selected col or effect. Settings Default stora ge 1. In camera mode, press the Options soft key .
Camera-Camcorder 70 • Normal — Adjusts exposure to the ave rage ligh t level over a large picture area. • Center -weighted — Ad justs exposure to the ave rage light leve l over a cente r portion of th e subject. • Spot — Ad justs ex posure to the li ght leve l over a sm all por tion of the sub ject.

Camera-Camcorder 76 The next time you press Ta k e / Rec ( ), the camera/ camcorder take s a lighter or darker picture or the camcorder records a lighter or darker video according to your selected Brig htness setting. T he Photo Galler y Saved pictures are stored in the My Images folder .
77 T he Video Galler y Saved videos are stored in the My Vi deos folder . Y ou can view t he videos one at a time (expan ded mo de), or browse several videos at once in thumbnail format. 1. In the Camcorder viewfi nder screen, press the Galle ry so ft key .

Note: T o record a video for inclusion in a Video Message, the camcorder Recording Mode option must be set to Limit for Message . (For more information, refer to “Recording Mode” on page 71) 2.

Multimedia 82 – Add to Playlist — Moves you to the Playlist s menu to let y ou add the selected music fi le to a playlist. – Remove From List — T emporarily drops the selecte d music file from the Library list. T o restore the music file to the list, turn y our phone off and back on again.
83 • Erase Files — Erase s one or more selected, u nlocke d pictures. •M o v e — Lets you move the image fil e from the pho ne to the Memor y Ca rd or from t he Memo ry Card t o the phone.

T ools/Utilities 96 T o perform anothe r ca lculation, press the Back soft key . Stop Wa tc h Y ou can use this menu to set a stop watch. 1. Fr om the T ools/Utilities menu, select Stop W atch . 2. Press to start, stop, and resume the stopwatch count.
97 1. From the T ools/U tilities menu, select Converter ➔ Currenc y . 2. Press the Rates soft key . The Exchange Rate list for the USD currency appears in the display . 3. Press Edit ( ). The Edit Exchange Rate screen appears in the display . 4. Highlight the currenc y Exchange Ra te to be changed.
T ools/Utilities 98 6. Enter an ident ifier of up to 5 characters for the new currenc y using the keypad. (For more inform ation, refer to “Entering T ext” on page 31.) 7. Highlight the Exchange Rate field. 8. Enter a decim al exchang e rate or the new currency using the k eypad.
