3 Get ting Started Getting Started Installing and Charging the Battery Your phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (Li-ion) battery. It allows you to recharge your battery before it is fully drained. When th e battery is we ak and only a few minutes of talk time remain, a warni ng tone sounds and a message repeats at regular intervals on the display.

Your Phone 8 Your Phone 1. Earpiece : The earpiece allows you to hear the other caller. Ringtones and sounds are also played through the earpiece, as are speakerphone conversations. 2. Earphone Jack : Allows you to plug in an optional earphone for safe, convenient hands-f ree conversations.

11 Your Phone Indicates that your 1X connection is dormant. Indicates that your phone is receiving 1X digital service. Indicates that your phone is receiving digi tal (non-3G) service. Indicates that Memory Card is inserted. Indicates that y ou missed a call.
Your Phone 12 Your Phone Indicates that an alarm is set on your phone. Tells you a call is in progress. Means there is no service, as your phone cannot find a signal. Displays your current signal strength. When you are receiving maximum signal strengt h, six bars are shown.
13 Your Phone Memory Card Your phone allows you to use a Micro SD (Secure Digital) memory card (up to 16GB) and an adapter to expand the phone’s available memory space. This digital card makes it easy to exchange images, music, and voice data quickly between SD- compatible devices.

Phone Basics 16 Phone Basics Dialing and Saving Phon e Numbers with Pauses You can dial or save phone numbers with pa uses for use with automated systems, such as Voice Mail or credit card billing numbers. There are two types of pauses available on your phone: • Hard Pause : sends the next set of numbers when you press .
17 Phone Basics Tip: If the desired entry contains more th an one phone number, scroll up or down to display the number you wish to call and press to make the call. Using One-Touch/Two- Touch Speed Dialing You can store up to 98 numbers in your phone’s speed dial memory to make contacting friends and family as easy as pressing a few buttons.
Phone Basics 18 Phone Basics Answering Calls 1. Press the key to answ er the incoming call. • When the Any Key option in the Call Answer menu is activated, you can answer a call by pressing any key ( Menu ).
19 Phone Basics • Voice Memo : allows you to record the other person’s conversation during a call. For more information, see "Voice Service" on page 62. • T ools : accesses the Tools menu options. See "Tools" on page 55. • Phone Info : displays your phone’s hardwa re and software versions.

Entering Characters Using T9 Text Input T9 Text Input analyzes the letters you ente r using an intuitive word database and creates a suitable word.

23 Phone Basics Using the Speakerphone The speakerphone allows you to hear audi o through the speaker and talk without holding your phone. During a call, press the right soft key for Options and then select Speaker On to activate the speakerphone or press .
History 24 History History With the History menu, you can: • view recent calls, grouped by day, that you missed, received, or dialed Note: You can also access the most recent num bers in the three types of call records by pressing the key while in Idle mode.
25 Contacts Contacts Use the Contacts menu to store your phone numbers and other contact information. You can specify the following information for each contact you add to your Contacts list: Mobile, Home, Work, Pager, E-mail, URL, Memo, Ringer, Fax, and Others.

Messaging 30 Messaging Messaging You can send and receive a range of di fferent message types from your phone. Press for Menu , followed by for Messaging . This menu has the foll owing messaging options: • Voicemail : allows you to access your voic e mailbox and check for voice messages.

Messaging 34 Messaging • CallBack Number : allows you to change the callback number for this message. The default callback num ber is your mobile phone number. • Priority : allows you to change the pr iority of the message between Urgent and Normal .
35 Messaging 2. You can now continue to compose or send your message. Inbox This folder contains all y our received text and multim edia messages. From this folder, you can view your messages, reply to or forward the message to another destination. T o view a message in your inbox: 1.

Save to Outbox : allows you to adjust whether sent messages are saved in your Outbox.
Messaging 40 Messaging Memory Info Memory Info ( Menu ) displays how much memory is available for messages. Press the left soft key for Done to return to the previous screen. Web Alert Your phone is capable of receiving web aler ts from online providers.
41 Music Music Music ( Menu ) provides a menu for accessing music. T o access the Music menu: 1. Press for Menu . 2. Press for Music . 3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Wireless Web 42 Wireless Web Wireless Web Your phone comes equipped wi th Wireless Web access ( Menu ) through your browser. You can view specially designed versions of popular sites including sports, weather, news, a nd stock quotes. When you la unch the browser, the phone automatically connects to the Inter net.
43 Wireless Web • Select on-screen items by using the n avigation key to highlight the desired item, then press the desired soft key button (or press ). The left soft key is used primarily for selecting items. • If the items on a page are numbered, you can use your keypad (number keys) to select an item.
My Files 44 My Files My Files The My Files menu ( Menu ) lets you download new ringtones and wallpaper from your service provider. Ringtones T o download ringtones: 1. Press Menu to access the My Files menu. 2. Select Ringtones using the navigation keys and press .
45 Camera Camera Camera Using the Camera ( Menu ) in your phone, you can take photos of people or events while on the move. You can send photos to other people in a multimedia message or set one as a wallpaper.
Camera 46 Camera • If you wish to discard the curren t picture, press the right soft key for Options and then select Erase . You can continue to take pictures. Camera Options There are several settings associated with the full-c olor digital camera.
47 Camera T o access your saved pictures: 1. Press Menu for Camera . 2. Press for Image Album . 3. Select an album: • Photo Gallery : displays pictures you have taken. • MMS : displays pictures fo r multimedia messages. • T ransferred Images : displays pictures you have transferred from the memory card.
Camera 48 Camera Settings The Camera Settings menu ( Menu ) allows you to change the default options for co mmon camera settings. • Save T o : Select either Phone or Memor y Card as the default save location.

51 Bluetooth Bluetooth Bluetooth ® is a short-range wireless communications technology capable of exchanging information over a distan ce of about 30 feet without requiring a physical connection. Unlike infrared, you don't need to line up the devices to beam information with Bluetooth ® .
Bluetooth 52 Bluetooth Options After a device is added to y our list of Trusted Devices, press the right soft key to select from the following options: • Add New : adds another device to your Trusted Devices list. • Edit name : shows the name given to your phone for Bluetooth ® purposes.
53 Voice Memo Voice Memo You can use your phone to re cord brief memos to remind you of important events, phone numbers, or other items. Recording Voice Memos 1. Press for Menu . 2. Press for V oice Memo . 3. If you have not previously recorded a voice memo, press the left soft key for Record New .

Voice Service Activating Voice Recognition Voice recognition allows you to say co mmands to perform common functions supported by your phone.

Change the phone from portrait to landscape mode by turning the phone on its side so that the display screen is on the left. 2. Carefully press the display screen of the phone and slide it up.

Your phone informs you of the cu rrent signal strength by displaying a number of bars next to the signal stre ngth icon.
