6 Inst all the battery Y our phone comes packaged with a par tially charged rechargeable standard Li-Ion battery and travel adapter . Important! The phone can be used while the battery is charging; howe ver , it must be fully charged the first t ime y ou use your phone, otherwise y ou could damage the batter y .
Introduction 7 Charge the battery Y our phone is powered b y a rechargeable standard Li-Ion batter y . Only use Samsung-approved charging de vices and batteries. Samsung accessor i es are designed to maximize batter y life. Using other accessories may invalidate your warranty and may ca use damage.
8 Pop-up display The unique pop-up di sp la y is designed to provide maximum visual space in a compact phone, as well as , restrict unwanted dialed calls.
Understand your phone 9 Underst and your phone Intenna A void touching the intenna while the phone is powered up . Contact with the antenna affects the quality of y our calls and ma y cause the phone to operate at a hig her pow er le vel than necessar y .

Understand your phone 11 Clear key The CLR ke y ( ) is used to erase or clear numbers from the display . Y ou can also use to return to a previous menu or to return to standby mode from any menu. • If you enter an incorrect character , br iefly press to backspace and delete.
12 V olume key The volume ke y is located on the left side of the phone. Use the v olume ke y to set the call rin ger v olume in standby mode or ear piece v olume w hile in a call. Y ou can also use the volume ke y to scroll through menus, sub men us , and lists.
Understand your phone 13 Y our phone’ s display The top of your phone’ s display contains icons that indicate network status, battery power , signal strength, connection type, and more. The f ollowing list contains icons that ma y appear in y our displa y .
14 V oicemail m essage : Indicates that you’ve receiv ed a new voice message . Y ou’ re also notified by a visual, audible , and VibeT onz aler t according to your assigned preferences . W AP push & voicemail message : Indicates that you’ve received v oice and W AP push messages.

16 St andby mode Standby mode is the state of your phone once it has found ser vice and is in the idle stat e. Y our phone goes into stan dby mode: • After you po wer it on. • When you press after a call. When in standby mode, y ou will see the time, day , and date as well as all other activ e icons.
Y our phone ’ s modes 17 Silent mode With a single press of the ke y you can silence the call ringer and tones that your k eypad mak es whenev er you press a ke y . When you receiv e a call, the phone vibrate s inste ad of rin gin g. Enter Silent mode • In standby mode, press and hold .
18 Power save mode Unless the backlight setting f or the LCD has been chan ged, the backlight dims after a minute of inactivity , and then tur ns off . With Power save enabled, the backlight f or the LCD is alwa ys dim. After appro ximately one minute of inactivity , Power save turns th e backlight off .

20 T urn your phone off • Press and hold f or two or more seconds. Y our phone powers off . If your phone is on and you press for less than one second, the phone will not power off . This feature pre vents your phone from being turned off accidentally .
Getting star ted 21 Call notifica tion feature s Y our phone notifies you of a call in a v ar iety of wa ys. • 10 ring volume settings including Silent, 1- beep , Vib eT o nz , Vib+ Rin g or Vib&Ring . F or information on changing the r inger notificat ion, see “Ri nger setting” on page 18.
22 LCD backlight se tting T o extend the charge of your batter y , the display goes blank when the screen is idle for a period of time. The amount of idle time a llowed can be adjusted in the Backlight menu. 1. In standb y mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu , then press , , .

Menu navigation 29 In-use menu Y our phone includes both a standby menu and an In-Use Menu . The In-Use Menu app lies to when you are in a ca ll. 1. Press the left soft k e y ( ) Menu while in a call to display the options listed in th e following tab le.
30 Calls The calls menu retains information about Outgoing , Incoming , and Missed Calls. Y ou can also view times f or yo ur last call and the total of all calls . In cases where a Contact matches a call log e ntry , the name associated with the number appears instead of the number .
Calls 31 • Press , then press the left soft ke y ( ) Option to display the opti ons below . Incoming Y our phone retains information abo ut the last 20 Incoming calls and stores them in the Incoming call log. Y ou can re vie w the Incoming call log for the time and date of the call, as well as other inf or mation.
32 Missed Y our phone retains infor mation about the last 20 missed calls (calls that were ne ver pic ked up) and stores them in the Missed call log. Y ou can revie w the Missed call log for the time and date of the call, as well as other inf or mation.
Calls 33 Erase logs Y ou can erase the Outg oing , Incoming or Missed call log, or you can erase All Calls . Erase a call log 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Men u , then press , . 2. Use the navigation ke y to highlight the log you want to clear calls from, and the press .

Calls 35 Caller ID Caller ID allows you to see who is calling b y displaying the caller’ s number when y our phone r ings. If the caller’ s name and number are stored in your Contacts, the name also appears in the display . Caller ID block Y ou can block your number from being displa yed on another phone by enabling the call b lock f eature.
36 Cont act s Y our Contacts can store up to 500 numbers, with each contact having up to five associated phone numbers, an e- mail address, and a picture ID . Each phone number ca n be up to 32 digits in length, including hard pauses, and associated names can be up to 22 characters in length.

40 Edit cont act numbers Once a contact has been saved, it can be easily changed or modified. 1. In standb y mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu , then press , for Find . 2. Use the navigation ke y to displa y the search method that you w ant to us e ( By Na me , By Group , or By Entry ).
Contacts 41 3. Enter information to find the entr y , or use the n avigation ke y to high light the entry that y ou w ant. 4. Once the entr y is highlighted, p ress the left soft ke y ( ) Option . A pop-up menu appears in the display with Edit highlighted.
42 • P pause : A hard pause stops the calling sequ ence until you enter additional numbers. • T pause : A two-second pause stop s the calling sequence and then automatically sends the re maini ng digits. Y ou can en ter multiple two-second pauses to e xtend the length of a pause.
Contacts 43 P AUSE DIALING WITH CONTA CTS 1. If you stored the number us ing (two-second) T pause(s), simply recall the numb er from the Contacts. 2. If you stored the number using (hard) P pause(s), .
44 Add a new entry 1. With New En try highli ghted, press . The f ollowin g number types appear in the display . 2. Use the navigation k ey to ch oose the number type, then press . 3. Enter a name f or the new entr y and press . The new entry is sav ed to y our Contact s.
Contacts 45 Shortcut s to storing phone numbers Y ou can store a phone number by entering the number , and pressing the ri ght soft ke y ( ) Save . Follo w the scre en prompts to designate other information. Y ou can also sav e a number after an incoming or outgoing call.
46 The first number entered when you create a contact is used f or speed dial ing unless you change it. T o change the number dialed when you use speed dialing, f ollow these steps: 1. In standb y mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu , then press , fo r Find .
Contacts 47 T wo-touch dialing Memor y loca tions 010 through 099 are special T wo-T ou ch dialing locations. For e xample, f or location number 013, briefl y pres s , then hold down until the name and number appear in the displa y and the number is dialed.
48 Rename group s Use this option to rename a group in your Contacts . 1. In standb y mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu , then press , f or Rename Group . 2. Use the navigation k ey to highlight the group that y ou want to rename, then press . The current name of the group appears in the display with a flashing cursor at the end of the name.
Contacts 49 Memory Use the Memor y menu to view the amount of memory used f or the contacts you hav e stored, as well a s the remaining memor y availab le for other entries. • In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu , then press , . Th e amount of memor y used and remaining for Contacts is displa yed.
50 Messages Y our phone is able to send and receive te xt messages to compatible phones and other de vices. If a te xt message e xceeds 160 characters , it is brok en up and delivered in separate messages, which will incur additional cost. There are various te xt entr y modes a vailable when using y our phone, and each is described below .
Messages 51 Y our current mode of text entry ( ABC , Symbol , 123 , or T9 Wor d ) is in dicated in the lower par t of the d ispla y when composing a te xt message.
52 1. When you are in the T9 predictive text input mode, star t entering a word by pressing ke ys 2 to 9. Press each ke y only once for each letter . As you type , a word will display; how ev er , it changes with each key y ou press. 2. Enter the whole word before editing or deleting any keys tr o kes.
Messages 53 4. ABC is highlighted. Use the navigation ke y to display T9 Word , then press . • Now , enter the word “Samsung” into your message by pressing each of the following ke ys only once : T9 W ord recognizes the most commonly used word f or the numeric sequence is “Samsung.
54 4. ABC is highlighted. Use the navigation ke y to display Symbol , then press . The first of fo ur screens of symbols appear in the display . 5. Use the left and right navigation ke ys to page through the other symbols, if necessary . 6. Press the key that corresponds with the symbol tha t you want to enter .
Messages 55 5. Once y ou’ re finished ente ring y our message , press . The New Message options listed in the following tab le appear in the display . 6. T o send your message, press the left soft ke y ( ) Send . Message send options Y ou can set prior ity , validity , pr ivacy , and other optio ns bef ore you send a message.

Messages 57 Receive TXT messages When your phone receives a message in standby mode, a ringer sound s (unless tur ned off), and New Message appears in the display along with the closed env elope icon ( ). The date and time of th e message also appea r in the display .
58 Message folders Y our messages are sto red in one of six fo lders. These fo lders are discussed in more details in the following sections. Voice mail folder Messages in your V oice Ma il box are logged in the Vo i c e f older of th e Message menu.

64 Get It Now With Get It Now , you can download full featured applications ov er the air including games, personalized ring tones, pictures, and more . Send and receive instant messages and email, or browse the web to catch up on all the latest news .
Get It Now 65 Settings Use the Settings menu within Get It Now to manage, mo ve , order applications and much more. 1. In standby mode, press the right navigation key to launch Get It Now . 2. At the Get It Now menu, press the right navigation key once to highlight ( Settings ), then press .

Get It Now 67 Removing app s Y ou ma y remove apps that are no longer needed. If y ou remov e an app, y ou cannot use it unless you purchase it again. 1.
68 Mobile W eb Y our SCH-n330 utilizes Mobile Web 2.0 , allowing you to conv eniently surf the web using your phone. • Each time you launch Mobile W eb , y our phone connects to the Internet and the service indi cator icon ( ) appears in the display .
Mobile Web 69 Exit Mobile Web To e x i t Mobile Web , press the ke y . Navigate the web When you use Mobile Web , some of the keys operate diff erently than dur ing a nor mal phone call.

Display 83 Menu style Menu Style allows you to choose how main menus appear in your displa y when the left soft ke y ( ) Menu is pressed. 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu , then press , for Menu Style . 2. Select Icon to displa y main menus as graphics, or select Nature to display main men us in a list f ormat.
84 4. Choose Preloaded to view images included with your phone, or choose My Image to view images or wallpaper you ha ve downloaded and sav ed. 5. Use the navigation k ey to highlight the image or wallpaper y ou want, then press to select it.

86 Auto hyphen Auto Hyphen automatically hyphenates phone numbers as they are entered. F or example: 580-437-0000. 1. Sounds 87 Sounds The Sounds menu pro vides a variety of options to customize audio proper ties for such things as ringers, ke ypad tones, aler ts, shut down sounds, and more.
88 3. Use the up and down v olume keys to select the volume lev el (or vibrate mode) f or the selected setting. Silent - No sound or vibration. 1 Beep - Plays a single beep witho ut vibration. VibeT onz - Plays only VibeT onz touch sensations with out audio.
Sounds 89 4. A list of bells and melodies appears in the displ ay , each playing as it is highlighted. Ringers with VibeT onz tracks are highlighted with the logo . 5. Use the navigation ke y to browse through av ailable ring tones. 6. When the desired r inger type plays , press to sav e the setting.
90 VibeT onz This allows you to set your phone’ s ke ypad to generate a brief touch sensation as each key is pressed. 1. While in the K ey Beep menu, use the na vigation ke y to highlight VibeT on z , then press . A prompt with On and Off displa ys.
Sounds 91 2. Use the navigation ke y to highlight the sub menu you want, then press . 3. Use the left or right navigation ke y to activate (or deactiv ate) the select ed alert, then press . Power on/off Set your phone to pla y a sound and/or VibeT onz touch sensation whenev er you turn it on or off.
92 V oice Kit Use your v oice in a natural manner to dial numbers, lookup contacts, record a v oice memo , an d much more. Please read the follo wing content carefully to lear n the most abo ut this useful feature .
Vo i c e K i t 93 • The phone recognizes the digits one , two , three , four , five , six , seven , eight , nine , zero , and oh (zero). It doesn’t recognize numbers such as “on e eight hundred” for “1- 800. ” Inste ad, sa y “one eight zero zero , ” or “one eight oh oh.
94 Tip : Choose a number from the list manually . Use the navigation k ey to highlight the number , then press to select. D IGIT D IAL A DAPTATION Digit Dial works well f or most people with out special adaptation.

Y our phone displays the first digit sequence and “ Please say ” plays through the speak er f ollow ed by the f our digits appeari ng in the disp la y .
96 R ESET D IGIT D IAL A DAPTATION Y ou can erase an ad aptation and reset Digit Dial to its or iginal state. 1. In standb y mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu . 2. Press , , f or Setup Digit . 3. Press f o r Rese t Digit s . 4. Use the navigation k ey to select Ye s to reset your digit adaptation, or No to cancel.
