Introduction 7 1. Inser t the bottom end of the batter y into the pho ne housing with the label side down. The gold contacts on the end of the batter y shou ld match up with those on the phone. 2. Push the top end of the batter y down until it snaps into place.
8 Use the desktop charge r The desktop charger operates from a 120/220 V AC wall outlet. It also acts as a cradle to hold your phone in a conv enient, easy-to-use position whi le chargi ng. 1. Plug the AC plug from the desktop charger into a standard 120 V AC or 220 V AC w all outle t.
Understand your phone 9 Underst and your phone The antenna A void touching the antenna while your phone is on. Contact with the antenna affects call quality and may cause the phone to operate at a higher power le vel than necessary .
10 Power save P ow er Sav e allows you to aff ect the brig htness/pow er settings for the Main LCD and keyp ad , as well as the Extern al LCD . The def ault setting for P ower Sa v e is Off . Main LCD and keyp ad With Po wer Sav e On , the main LCD backlight is dim and the ke ypad backlight is off .
Understand your phone 11 Sof t keys Functions for the soft ke ys are defined by what appears abov e each of them on the d ispla y . There are two soft ke ys: • () t h e lef t soft key • () t h e right soft key . L eft s o ft k e y Some functions of the left soft ke y are as follo ws.
12 Clear key The Clear key ( ) is used to erase or clear numbers, te xt, or symbols from the display . Y ou can also u se to retur n to a pre vious menu or to retur n to standby mode from an y menu. • If you enter an incorrect character , br iefly press to backspace (and delete) the character .
Understand your phone 13 Headset connector The headset connector , on the left side of the phone below the volume k ey , is the input jack for the hands-free headset. The stereo headset combine s earbuds and a microp hone in a conv enient, lightweight unit so you can talk without using your hands.
14 Microphone The microphone is next to the charger/ accessor y input jack on the bottom end of the phone. Alpha-numeric keyp ad Use the alpha-numeric keypad to enter text, numbers, and special characters. Earpiece The ear piece, on the inside o f the flip abov e the display , plays sounds such as ke y tones and aler ts.
Understand your phone 15 Navigation key Use the directional keys on the na vigation ke y to browse menus, sub men us, and lists. Each k ey also acts as a shor tcut to launch applications. The up navigation k ey is user-definable. Press when replying to prompts, and jumping to highlighte d li nks on the web.
16 Roaming indicator : Y our phone is outside your home area. While roaming, another wirele ss provider may be handling your call. The service rate for the call ma y be higher than those made from within your home area. Please ref er to V er izon Wireless for roaming rates .
Understand your phone 17 DST Set : If you use the Dual Clock W orld Time wallpaper for your displa y , you must set Da ylight Savings Time (DST) for your Home and Visiting areas. GPS : Global P ositioning Ser vice (GPS) for 911 is set to On for emergency calls only .
18 Getting st arted Obt ain service for your phone Contact V erizon Wireless and f ollow their instructions f or obtaining ser vice. We suggest that you read this guide to ful ly understand the ser vices your phone suppor ts. T urn your phone on 1. Open the flip , then press and hold for two or more seconds.

A pop-up menu appears in the display with ABC highlighted. 2. Use the left/rig ht navigation keys to displa y the optional te xt entr y modes of Symbol , 123 , and T9 Word .
20 Vibrate mode • In standby mode , repeatedly press the volume ke y ( ) down until Vibra te a ppears in the display . The volume ke y is on the left side of phone. Ringer volume 1. In standby mode , repeatedly press the volume ke y ( ) on the left side of the phone up or down.
Getting star ted 21 Receive calls When you receive a call, the phone displays one of the f ollowing: • If the calle r can be identifie d, the caller’ s number (or name if it’ s in your Phonebook) appears in the displa y .
22 Receive call s when using Get It Now or Mobi le Web If you receive a call while using a Get It Now applicati on or Mobile W eb, the application is put on hold during th e call. Once the call ends, you are prompted to resume y our session. Call notifica tion feature s Y our phone notifies you of calls in a v ar iety of wa ys.
Getting star ted 23 V oicemail V oice mail allows callers to leav e v oice messages, which can be retriev ed any time . Once your v oicemail account is set up, y ou can use t he V oicemail folder (under the Me ssages menu) to vie w details of voice messages in y our v o ice mailbox.

30 Phonebook Up to 500 entr ies can be sto red in phone memor y . Each entr y in the Phonebook can hav e up to five numbers , an e-mail address, and a URL associated with it. Phone number can be up to 32 digits long, including hard pauses, while an email address can hav e 48 characters and names can be up to sixteen characters long.

Use the navigation ke y to displa y the search method that you w ant to use ( By Name , By Entry , or By Group ). 4. Enter information to find the entr y , or use the n avigation ke y to highlight the entr y that you w ant to edit.

36 1-touch di aling Call phone numbers assigned to memor y locatio ns 001 - 009 by pressing and holding k eys 1 - 9, respectively . F or ex ample , to spee d dial the number assigned to location 2, press and hold until the name and number appea r in the display and the number is dialed.

38 Assign a picture to a phonebook entry When you assign a picture to a Phonebook entr y , the picture that you assigned to the entr y appears in the di splay when you receiv e a call from that entr y . Y ou can save pictures to the Default Gallery or Photo Gallery galler y when you tak e a picture.
Phonebook 39 Store numbers af ter a call Once you’ve finished a call, y ou can store the nu mber of the caller to your Phonebook. If the call was incoming and Caller ID info r mation was unav ailable, then the store option is also unav ailable.
40 The Find methods listed in the following table appear in the display . More information on ea ch of these methods is availab le in the f ollo wing sectio ns. By Name 1. Enter the name of the person as they are entered in your Phonebook . For e xample, if you sa ved the name as Amy Smith , begin the search b y pressing (f or “A”).
Phonebook 41 By Entry This option allows you to find a stored entr y by location (or speed dial) number. 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu . 2. Press ( Phonebook ), ( Find ) . 3. Use the left/right navigation keys to displa y by Entry .

Phonebook 45 Colleague Business 3. Use the navigation ke y to highlight the desired group, then press to enter the group and view its contents. Move an entry to another group 1. In standby mode, press the left soft k e y ( ) Menu , then press ( Phoneboo k ), ( Group ).
46 Create a new group In addition to the five groups already in your phone, you can create an additional five groups. Ne w groups can be named anything y ou like as long as their names are within the 12- character limit. 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu .

48 Send text messages to grou p members Use Send Message in the Group feature to send a message to as many as 10 members of a group at once. 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu . 2. Press ( Phonebook ), ( Group ). Y our e xisting groups displa y .

My Name Card My Name Card allows you to create a vir tual business card. Once completed, you can send the card to recipients as a V -card attachment.

52 11 . Once you’ve returned to the Pix Msg composer , press the down navigation k ey to highlight Add Subject . 12. Press the right navigation ke y if you w ant to enter a subject for the V -card, or press the right soft key ( ) Back to cancel entering a subject.
Phonebook 53 Delete all Delete All allows the deletion of all entri es in your Phonebook. 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu . 2. Press ( Phonebook ), ( Delete All) . Y ou’ re prompted to enter the lock code. 3. Enter the lock code .
54 Recent calls Use Recent Calls to vie w rece ived, dialed, and missed calls f or your phone. Y ou can also use Recent Calls to erase y our call histor y and vi ew Call Timers. Functionality of Recent Calls is dependent upon availability with the service provider’ s network and whether or not Caller ID is enabled.

56 Delete all call logs Y ou can use the Delete Call Logs to cl ear all calls in each call log at one time . 1. In standby mode, press the left soft key ( ) Menu . 2. Press ( Recent Calls ), ( Delete Call Logs ). 3. Press ( All Calls ). A confirmation message, “Delete All Call Logs?” displays.

58 Messages Y our phone is capable of sending and receiving messages with other compatible phones and de vices. Bef ore you send messages, it’ s best to cove r the basics of composing messages using the four entry modes, ABC , Sy mbol , 123 , and T9 Word .
Messages 59 Change text entry modes 1. While composing a text message , press the left soft key () Option to displa y a pop-up menu with the options listed in the f ollowing table. 2. ABC is highlighted. Use the navigation left/right keys to choose from one of the other three text entr y modes of 123 , T9 W ord , and Symbol .
60 T9 ® Wor d t ex t en try T9 Word recognizes the most commonly used wo rd for an y sequence of keypresses and inser ts that word into your message. It’ s much faster than the traditional method of text entr y (ABC) and requ ires only one k ey press per letter of the word that you’ re spelling.
Messages 61 123 mode Enter numbers into a te xt me ssage while in number mode ( 123 ). See “Change text entr y modes” on page 59 for instructions on changing text entry modes. • While in 123 mode, press the ke y containing the number that you w ant to inser t into your message.
62 6. Use the navigation left/right ke ys to page through the other symbols, if necessary . 7. Enter the ke y that co rresponds with the symbol that you want to enter . F or example , press f or an e xclamation point ( ! ). 8. Repeat steps 3 through 6 to inser t as many symbols into your message as desired.

Messages 65 Receive text messages When you receive a message in standb y mode, the message tone sounds, (unless tur ned off), and New T ext Msg appears in the display along with the closed e n v elope icon ( ). The date and time of th e message also appea r in the display .

Messages 73 Y ou can send a Pix or Flix Msg to up t o ten recipients. Separate each recipient’ s address or phone number with a space in the Send to field of the Pix Msg composer . 5. It’ s fun, and as easy to use as a traditional point-and-cl ick camera – just take a picture , view it on the displa y , and send it to up to ten people, right from your phone.
