Getting Star ted 3 Getting Started Key Functions 1. Speaker: The speaker allows you to hear the other caller and the different ring tones and sounds offered by your phone. 2. Signal Strength Indicator: This icon represents the signal strength by displaying bars.

This phone is lightweight, easy-to-use, reliable, and it also offers many significant featur es and ser vice options: • Dual-band/Dual-Mode capability provides access to other Digital Networks where roaming agreements are established.
Getting Star ted 9 Getting Started If your phone is unable to fi nd a signal after 15 minutes of sear ching, a Power Save feature is automatically activated. When a signal is found, your phone automati cally returns to standby mode. In Power Save mode, your phone se ar ches for a signal periodically without your intervention.

Phone Basics 15 Phone Basics Ending a Call T o disconnect a call when you are finished: • Close the phone or press . Missed Call Notification When an incoming call is not answered, the Missed Call log is displayed on your screen. Y ou have two options: • Press the left softkey to Save the phone number to your Contacts.
16 Phone Basics In-Call Options Select actions by pressing the left softkey for Menu during a call. A list of options is displayed that allows you to per form different actions during the course of a call. Phone Basics 17 Phone Basics End-of-Call Options After receiving a call from or maki ng a call to a phone number that is not in your Contacts, the phone num ber and the duration of the call are displayed. Press the right softkey to Save the new number in your Contacts.
18 Phone Basics Dialing and Saving Ph one Numbers With Pauses Y ou can dial or save phone nu mbers with pauses for use with automated systems, such as V oice Mail or credit card billing numbers. There are two types of pauses available on your phone: • Hard Pause (P) sends the next set of numbers when you press .

Tip: If the desired entr y contains more than one phone number , scroll up or down to display the number you wish to call and press to make the call.

Note : Y our phone also supports 3- 4 di git dialing. If you enter a number using the keypad without holding th e last number and then press , your phone will dial those digits .
Phone Basics 21 Phone Basics Entering Characters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input lets you enter text in your phone by pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9 (English) mode when entering text, see “Selecting a Charac ter Input Mode” above.

Phone Basics 23 Phone Basics Using Caller ID Caller ID allows people to identi fy a caller before answering the phone by displaying the number of the incoming call. If you do not want your number displayed when y ou make a call, just follow these easy steps.

Phone Basics 25 Phone Basics Making a Three-W ay Call With Three-Way Calling, you can talk to two people at the same time. When using this feature, the normal airtime rates will be charged for each of the two calls. T o make a Three-Way Call: 1. Enter a number you wish to call and press .
26 Phone Basics T o turn the speakerphone off during a call: • Press and hold or press . Wa r n i n g : Due to higher volume levels, do not place the phone near your ear during speakerphone use.
Roaming 27 Roaming Roaming Understanding Roaming Recognizing Icons on the Display Screen Y our phone’ s display screen always le ts you know when you’re off the network. The following chart indicat es what you’ll see depending on where you’re using your phone.

T o select an option, highlight it and press . • Home Only : This setting allows you to access the home network only and prevents roaming on other networks. • Automatic : This setting seeks service. When ser vice is unavailable, the phone sear ches for an alternate system.
Voice Services 29 Voice Services Voice Services V oice Recognition V oice recognition allows you to say commands to per form common functions supported by your phone. Y ou simply say the pre- designated command displayed on your screen in a normal tone of voice to per form the desired function.
30 Voice Servic es T ips for using Voice Dial: • V oice Dial works best in quieter environments. • When saying a number , speak at a normal speed and say each digit clearly . There is no n eed to pause between digits. • The phone recognizes the digits one , two, three, four , five, six, seven, eight, nine, zero, and oh .
Voice Services 31 Voice Services • If the phone asks you, "Did Y ou Say ," followed by an incorrect number , say No . (If there are other alternatives, the phone will prompt you with the next one. Y ou can also press the navigation key up or down to select the correct number from the Choice List , and then press to dial.
32 Voice Servic es • If the phone says, "Did Y ou Say ," followed by an incorrect name, say No . The phone then prompts you with the next name, if there is one. If ther e are no more names, the phone will say "Sorr y , No Match Found.
Voice Services 33 Voice Services Note : ONL Y adapt Voice Dial if th e system is frequently mis- recognizing your speech. Y ou can al ways restore the system to its original factory setting. Adaptation involves recording several digit sequences to teach the system your voice.
34 Voice Servic es 8. W ait for the beep, and then repeat the digits using a normal tone of voice. (The phone pl ays back your recording and asks you if the recording sounds "OK.") • If the recording sounds OK (no mistakes and no background noises), say Ye s .
Voice Services 35 Voice Services Changing V o ice Dial Sensitivity Y ou can adjust your phone’ s sensitivity to sounds when listening for voice commands or names, making it require a more exact or less exact sound match before re sponding to your command.

V oice Memos Y ou can use your phone to record brief memos to remind you of important events, phone num bers, or other items.

48 Contacts Contacts Adding a New Contact Y our phone can store up to 500 en tries (numbers/e-mails/URLs) in different categories (Home, Office, Mo bile, Pager , Fax, Alias, E-Mail, Others). Phone book capacity is ba sed by number of entries not by number of contacts.
Contacts 49 Contacts 5. Once the desired option is hi ghlighted, press the navigation key down. 6. Enter the first few letters or entry # to locate the desired entry . • If you are sear ching By Group , then press the navigation key left or right to scroll through your groups.

Contacts 51 Contacts Assigning a Contact to a Group Y ou can assign a group name to your entries to help sort them. The preset group names in your phone are: T o associate an existing number in your Contacts with a group: 1. Press the left softkey for Menu .
52 Call History Call History Viewing Histor y Y ou’ll find the Call History feature ver y helpful. It is a list of the last 20 phone numbers (or Contacts entries) for each of: calls missed, calls made, or calls accepted. Call Hist or y makes redialing a number fast and easy .

Messaging 65 Messaging Auto Delete Inbox: allows you to adjust whether read messages are automatically deleted from your Inbox. Y our options are W arning Msg or Auto Erase . Default Entr y Mode: The Entr y Method allows you to set the default character input method for new text messages.
66 Messaging Auto Scrolling: The scroll timer allows you to set the length of time a message takes to scroll across the screen. Options are Off , 3 Seconds , 5 Seconds or 10 Seconds . Message Reminder: This option allows you to configure how often you are notified of new text messages.

Do More 69 Do More W e b Connection Status and Indicators Y our phone's display lets you know the current status of your web connection through indicators which a ppear at the top of the screen. The following symb ols are used: Y our web connection is active (data is being transferred).
