Assembling 11 Inser t the SIM or USIM card. 3 Place the SIM or USIM card into the devic e with • the gold-coloured contacts facing down. If you do not insert a SIM or USIM card, you can • only use your device ’ s non-network services and some menus.
Assembling 12 Charge the batt er y Before using the device f or the rst time, you must charge the battery. Y ou can charge the device with the pro vided travel adapter or by connecting the device to a PC with a PC data cable. Use only Samsung-approved char gers and cables.
Assembling 13 Plug the large end of the trav el adapter into a power 3 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charging , but it • may take longer to fully charge the battery . While the device is charging , the touch screen may • not funct ion d ue t o a n uns table pow er su pply .
Assembling 14 When the battery is fully charged (the battery icon is 4 no longer moving), unplug the PC data cable from the device and then from the PC. Inser t a memor y card (optional) T o store additional multimedia les, you must insert a memory card.
Assembling 15 Lock the memory card in place. 3 Replace the battery and back cover . 4 › Remove the memory card Ensure that the device is not currently using the 1 memory card. Getting started 24 › Organise applications in Menu mode Y ou can reorganise the applications in Menu mode by changing their order or grouping them in to categories to suit your prefer ences and needs. In Idle mode, press the Menu key to access Menu 1 mode.
Getting started 25 Launch and manage applications › Launch multiple applications Y our device allows you t o multi-task by running multiple applications at the same time. T o launch multiple applications, press the Menu key to return to the main menu and select an application to launch.

Getting started 29 Adjust the brightness of the displa y › In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Display and light . Drag the slider under 2 Brightness to adjust the level of brightness. Select 3 Set . The brightness level of the display will a ect how quickly the device consumes battery power .
Getting started 30 Once the PIN lock is enabled, you must ent er the PIN each time you turn on the device. If you enter an incorrect PIN too many times , your • SIM or USIM card will be blocked. Y ou must enter a PIN unlock key (PUK) to unblock the SIM or USIM card.

Communication 36 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options available during a call or customising and using call-related f eatures. › Make and answer a call Y ou can use the buttons or the touch screen when you make, accept, end or r eject calls.
Communication 37 › Use the headset By plugging the supplied headset into the device, y ou can make and answer calls: T o redial the last call, press the headset button, and then • press and hold the button. T o answer a call, press the headset button.
Communication 38 T o dial a second call, place the rst call on hold and then • dial a new number . T o answer a second call, select • New call when a call waiting tone sounds. The rst call is automatically placed on hold. Y ou must subscribe to the call waiting ser vice to use this feature .
Communication 39 T o zoom in or out, select • → Zoom . The zoom feature is a vailable only when you are using the rear camera. T o apply the blur eect to your image, select • → Blur eect or tap and hold your image and select Blur eect .
Communication 40 Make a fake call Y ou can simulate incoming calls when you wan t to get out of meetings or unwanted con versations. T o activate the hot key to make fake calls, in Menu mode, select Settings → Applications → Call → F ake call → F ake call hot key → Save .
Communication 41 Use F ixed Dialling Number (FDN) mode In FDN mode, your device will restrict outgoing calls, except f or the numbers stored in the SIM or USIM card. Y ou must rst set up your FDN list in the phonebook to use FDN mode. T o ac tivate FDN mode, In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Security → F ixed dialling mode .
Communication 42 Set call waiting Call waiting is a network featur e to alert you of an incoming call while you are on a pr evious call. This feature is available only for v oice calls. In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Applications → Call → V oice call → Call waiting .
Communication 43 Select an option you want. 2 Option F unction Call duration Vi ew ti me da ta f or y our c alls , s uch a s the duration of the last call and the total duration of all calls. Message counter View the number of messages you have sent or rec eived.
Communication 44 Select 5 Send to send the message. If you decide not to send a message immediately , • you can save it t o the draft folder for future use . If an error occurs while you ar e sending a message, • it will be saved in the outbox so y ou can tr y to resend it later .

Entertainment 54 Entertainment Camera Learn how to capture and view phot os and videos. Y ou can take photos at resolutions up to 2560 x 1920 pix els (5 megapixels) and videos at resolutions up t o 1280 x 720 pixels. Phot os are saved in jpg f ormat and videos are saved in mp4 format.
