Assembling 11 T o install the SIM or USIM card and battery , If the device is on, press and hold [ 1 ] and select Po we r off → OK t o turn it off . T urn the screw anti-clockwise with a coin or other objec t 2 to unlock the back cov er , and then remov e the cover .
Assembling 12 Inser t the batter y . 4 Replace the back cov er and tur n the screw clockwise to 5 lock the cov er . Ensure that the scr ew is unlocked when you replace the back cov er . Ensure that the c over is c ompletely closed and the screw is tightly fast ened to av oid water damage.
Assembling 13 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time, you must char ge the battery . Y ou can charge the device with a tr avel adapt er or by connecting the device to a PC with a USB cable. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers and cables .
Assembling 14 Connecting the trav el adapter improperly ma y cause serious damage to the device . Any damage caused b y misuse is not cov ered by the warranty . Plug the large end of the tra vel adapter into a pow er 3 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charg ing, but it ma y ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y .
Assembling 15 Charge with a USB cable › Before char ging, ensure tha t your PC is turned on. Open the cov er of the multifunc tion jack . 1 Plug one end (micro-USB) of the USB cable into the 2 multifunction jack . Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on a 3 PC.
Assembling 16 Y our device supports only the F A T file struc ture f or ● memor y cards . If you inser t a card f or matted with a differ ent file struc ture, y our device will ask you to ref or mat the memory card. F requent writing and erasing of data will shor ten the ● lifespan of memory cards.
Assembling 17 Remov e the memor y card › Before r emoving a memor y card, first unmount it f or safe remov al. In Idle mode, select 1 → Settings → S torage → Unmount SD card → OK . Remove the batt er y and the back cover . 2 Remove the memory card.

If you turn on y our device for the first time , follow the on-scr een instructions to set up your device . T o turn off your device , press and hold [ ] and then select P ower off → OK .

Getting star ted 24 Use the t ouch screen Y our device ’ s touch screen lets you easily select items or per form functions. Learn basic actions to use the touch screen. T o avoid scra tching the touch screen, do not use ● sharp tools. Do not allow the touch screen t o come into contact ● with other electrical devices.

Getting star ted 27 Use the notifica tions panel › In Idle mode or while using an application, tap the indicator icons ar ea and drag your finger down to open the notifications panel. Y ou can ac tivate or deactivate wir eless connection featur es and access a list of notifications , such as messages, calls , events or processing status .
Getting star ted 28 T o add a new panel, select ● . T o change the order of the panels, tap and hold the ● thumbnail of a panel and drag it to the location y ou want. Getting star ted 29 Organise applications › Y ou can reorganise the applica tions in the application list by changing their order or g rouping them into categories to suit your pr efer ences and needs. In the application list, press [ 1 ] → Edit .
Getting star ted 30 C ustomise your devic e Get more from y our device by customising it to match y our pref erences. Set the current time and dat e › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Da te and time . Set the time and date and change other options.
Getting star ted 31 Change y our ringtone › In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → Sound → Phone ringt one . Select a r ingtone from the list and select 2 OK .
Getting star ted 32 › Set a screen lock Y ou can lock the touch screen b y ac tivating the screen lock featur e. Y our device will require the unlock code each time you turn on the device or unlock the touch scr een. If you for get your unlock code , bring your device to a ● Samsung Ser vice Centr e to reset it .
Getting star ted 33 Set an unlock password In Idle mode, open the application list and select 1 Settings → L o cation and security → Set screen lock → Passw ord . Enter a new passw ord (alphanumeric) and select 2 Con tinue . Enter the passw ord again and select 3 OK .
Getting star ted 34 › Activat e the F ind my mobile fea ture When someone inserts a new SIM or USIM card in your device, the F ind my mobile f eature will automatically send the contact number to specified recipients t o help you locate and reco ver your device .
Getting star ted 35 Enter t ex t Y ou can enter te xt by selecting charac ters on the vir tual keypad or by inputting handwriting on the screen. Y ou cannot enter te xt in some languages. T o enter text, you should change the writing language to one of the suppor ted languages.

Getting star ted 37 Release the finger on the last character . 3 When the wor d displays correctly , select 4 to insert a space. If the corr ect word does not display , select an alternative w ord from the list that appears . Repeat steps 1-4 to complet e your text.

Communication 42 C ommunication Calling Learn to use calling functions, such as making and answering calls, using options av ailable dur ing a call or customising and using call-relat ed featur es. Entertainment 55 Ent er tainment Camer a Learn how t o capture and view photos and videos. Y ou can take photos at r esolutions up to 2048 x 1536 pix els (3.2 megapixels) and videos at r esolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels . T o use the camera, you must first insert a memor y card.
