Assembling 9 T o install the SIM or USIM card and batt er y , If the device is on, press and hold [ 1 ] and select Ye s to turn it o . Remove the back co ver . 2 Be careful not to damage y our ngernails when you remov e the back cover . Inser t the SIM or USIM card with the gold- coloured 3 contacts facing down.
Assembling 10 Once you insert 2 SIM or USIM cards, y ou will be ● prompted t o select either of them when accessing network ser vices. If you do not inser t a SIM or USIM card, y ou can only ● use your device ’ s non-network ser vices and some menus.
Assembling 11 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the rst time, you must char ge the battery . Y ou can charge the device with the pr ovided travel adapt er or by connecting the device to a PC with a PC data cable . Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers and cables .
Assembling 12 Plug the large end of the tra vel adapter into a pow er 3 outlet. Y ou can use the phone while it is charging , but it may ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y . While the device is charg ing, the touch screen ma y ● not function due to an unstable power supply .
Assembling 13 Plug the other end of the PC data cable into a USB port on 3 a PC. Depending on the type of PC data cable you are using , it may take some time bef ore charg ing begins. When the battery is fully charged (the battery icon is no 4 longer moving), unplug the PC data cable fr om the device and then from the PC.
Assembling 14 Inser t a memor y card with the gold- coloured con tacts 2 facing down. Push the memory card in the memor y card slot until it 3 locks in place. Close the cov er to the memor y card slot. 4 › Remov e the memor y card Ensure that the devic e is not currently using the memory 1 ca rd.
Assembling 15 › F ormat the memor y card F ormatting your memor y card on a PC may cause incompatibilities with y our device. F ormat the memory card only on the device. In Menu mode, select S ettings → Memory → Memory card details → F ormat → Ye s .

Getting star ted 21 Use the t ouch screen Y our device ’ s touch screen lets y ou easily select items or per form functions. Learn basic actions to use the touch screen. T o avoid scr atching the touch scr een, do not use ● sharp tools. Do not allow the touch screen t o come into contact ● with other electrical devices.

Getting star ted 23 › Organise applications in Menu mode Y ou can reor ganise the applications in Menu mode by changing their order or g rouping them int o categories to suit your pr efer ences and needs. In Idle mode, press the Menu key to acc ess M enu mode.
Getting star ted 24 › Use the task manager Y ou can manage multiple applications with the task manager . T o launch the task manager , Pr ess and hold the M enu key . Getting star ted 27 Adjust the brigh tness of the display › In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Displa y and light . Drag the slider under 2 Brightness to adjust the lev el of brightness. Select 3 Set . The brightness level of the displa y will aect how quickly the device consumes batter y power .
Getting star ted 28 › Lock y our SIM or USIM card Y ou can lock your devic e by activating the PIN supplied with your SIM or USIM car d. In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → Security . Select 2 PIN lock . Enter the PIN of y our SIM or USIM card and select 3 Done .
Getting star ted 29 › Swit ch the SIM or USIM card aut omatically In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → SIM cards management → SIM aut o switch . Select 2 Activation . Select a SIM or USIM card. 3 Specify the schedule that the SIM or USIM card will be 4 active and select S a ve .
Getting star ted 30 Enter text by selecting alphanumeric keys or writing on 2 the screen. When entering te xt, rotate the device t o display the wider keypad. When entering te xt with the keypad, you can use the follo wing modes: Mode F unc tion ABC Select an appropriate vir tual key until the character you want appears on the display .

Communication 33 Reject a c all When a call comes in, pr ess [ ]. The caller will hear a busy tone. Y ou can set up a list of numbers to r eject incoming calls automatically . ► p . 34 Call an int ernational number In Menu mode, select 1 Ke ypad and tap and hold 0 to inser t the + character .
Communication 34 T o answer a second call , selec t ● Accept when a call waiting tone sounds. The rst call is automatically placed on hold . Y ou must subscribe to the call waiting service to use this featur e. T o switch between the two calls, select ● Swa p .
Communication 35 Select the number input eld and enter a number to 4 reject, and select S ave . T o add more numbers , repeat st eps 2-4. 5 Make a fak e c all Y ou can simulate inc oming calls when you want t o get out of meetings or unwan ted con versations.
Communication 36 Y ou can also make fake calls appear more r ealistic by showing a caller ID image and caller ’ s name or number . In Menu mode, select 1 Settings → A pplications → C all → F ake call . Select 2 Name or Number . Enter a name or number .

Communication 41 › Send an SOS message In case of an emergenc y , you can ask f or help by sending an SOS message to specied recipien ts. This f eature ma y be unavailable depending on y our region or service provider . In Menu mode, select 1 Messages .

Entertainment 44 Ent er tainment Camer a Learn how t o capture and view photos and videos. Y ou can take photos at r esolutions up to 2048 x 1536 pix els (3.2 megapixels) and videos at r esolutions up to 320 x 240 pixels. Photos ar e saved in jpg f ormat and videos are saved in mp4 format.

Connectivity 61 C onnec tivity Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology capable of ex changing information over a distance of about 10 m without requiring a ph ysical connection. Y ou do not need to line up the devices t o beam information with Bluetooth.
