Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section helps you to quickly start using your device. Understanding This User Manual The instructions in this manual are b ased on default settings, and may vary from your device depending on the software version on your de vice and any changes to the device’ s settings.
5 T ext Conv entions This manual provides condensed information about how to use your device. T o make this possible, the follow ing text conventions are used to re present ofte n-used steps: SIM Car d Y our device uses a 4G L TE SIM (Subscriber Identity Module).
Getting Started 6 Installing the 4G L TE SIM Card 1. Locate the SIM card slot on the right side of the tablet. 2. Make sure the gold contac ts of the SIM card face downwar d and that the notche d corner of the card faces inward toward the left (as shown).
7 Charging the Batter y Y our device comes with a Charging Head and USB cable to charge your device from any standard po wer outlet. Please note tha t: • The battery comes pa rtially charged. Y ou must fully charge the batt ery before usin g your device for the fi rst time.

9 Securing Y our Device By default, the devic e locks automatically when the screen times out or you can lock it manually. Unlock th e tablet b y swiping your finger across the screen. This is the default Screen lock (Sw ipe), and offers no security .

11 Fr o n t V i e w The following items can be found on the front and sides of your device. 1. Front-Facing Camera Lens : Used when taking photos or recording vi deos. 2. Pow er/Lock Key : Press and hold to turn the device on or off. Press to lock the device or to wake the screen for unlocking.
Understanding Y our Device 12 Bac k View The following items can be found on the back, top, and side of your device. 1. 3.5mm Heads et Jack : Attach optional headphones (not included) or other accessories. 2. Camera Lens : Used when taking photos or recording videos.
13 Using the T ouch Screen Finger Gestures T ouching T o open an application, to select a menu item, to press an onscreen button, or to enter a character using the onscreen keyboard, touch it with a finger . T ouching and Holding T ouch and hold an item for more than 2 seconds to access available options.
Understanding Y our Device 14 Motions Simple motions allo w easy control of the device. Rota ting the Scr een Many appl ications allow display in either po rtrait or landscape orientation. Rotating the device causes the display to automatically adjust to fit the new screen orienta tion.
15 Home Screen The Home screen is the starting point for using your device. It consists of: 1. Notifications: Notification icons appear on the Status Bar at the top of the screen to re port calenda r events, device status, and more. Drag do wn from the Status Bar to open the Noti fication panel.
Understanding Y our Device 16 Extended Home Screen The Home screen consists of the main Home panel, plus panels that extend beyond the display width to provide more space for ad ding shortcut s, widgets and folders. Slide your finger horizontally across the scr een to scroll to the left or right side panels.
17 Shor tcuts and Widgets Y ou can add, reposition, or remove shortcu ts and widgets from the Home screen. Adding a Shor tcut or Widget Y ou can customize the Home screen by adding shortcuts and widgets. 1. T ouch and hold an empty area of the Home screen.
Understanding Y our Device 18 Folders Place folders on the Home screen to organize items. Adding F olders 1. From a Home screen, touch and hold on an empty area of the screen until the Home screen popup app ears . 2. T ouch Folder . 3. Enter a name for the folder and t ouch OK .
19 Multi W indow Multi task by using up to two applicat ions at the same time. Note: Only applications displayed on the Mult i window panel can be used with the Multi window f eature. Activ ate Multi Wi nd ow 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Setting s ➔ Display .

Activate Multi window (see “Activate Multi Windo w” on page 19). 2. Swipe the righ t edge of the screen toward the center to display the Multi windo w tray .
21 T ray Configur ation Y ou can rearrange the apps on the Multi windo w tray , add new apps, or remove apps. On the Multi window tray: 1. T ouch to access the tray contro ls. 2. T ouch Edit : • T o remove an app from the tray , touch and drag it off of the tray and place it in the storage area.

23 Status Bar The Status Bar at the top of the home screen provides device information (s uch as network status, signal strength, batter y charge, and time) on the right si de and notifi cation alerts on the left. T o display the Status Bar: F rom a Home screen, s wipe downward from the top of the screen.

25 Entering T ext Use the Samsung keyboard or the voice input featu re to enter text. Note: T ext entry is not supported in some languages. T o enter text, you must change the in put language to one of the supported languages. Entering Uppercase T ouch before entering a character .
Understanding Y our Device 26 Entering T ext By V oice T ouch to activate the voice input feature, and then speak into the microphone. The device displays what you speak. If the devi ce does not reco gnize your words, touch the underlined text and select an al ternative word or phrase from the drop-down list.
27 Editing Keyboard The Editing K eyboard provides a quick way to move the cursor and highlight text. If th e application in which you are working supports editing, yo u can cut, copy or paste highlighted text. Swype from Swype to . Using Swype V oic e Input Enter text by speaking.
Accounts and Contac ts 28 Section 3: Accounts and Contacts This section explains how to ma nage accounts and contacts. Accounts Y our device can synchronize with a variety of accounts. With synchronization, in formation on your device is updated with any informa tion that changes in your accounts.

31 Link ed Contacts Y our device can synchroniz e with multiple accounts, including Google, Corporate Exchange, and other service providers. When you synchr onize contacts from thes e accounts with your device, yo u may have multiple contacts for the same person.
Accounts and Contac ts 32 Sharing Contact Information Y ou can sen d a contact’ s inform ation usin g Bluetooth to other Bluetooth devices, or in an Email or Gmai l as an attachment. Note: Not all Bluetooth devices accept contacts and not all devices support transfers of multiple contacts.
33 Adding Group Members T o add a contact to a group, just edit a contact’ s Group field. For more informati on, refer to “Updating Contacts” on page 30. 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Contacts ➔ Groups tab. 2. T ouch the group to which you want to add members.

Wi-Fi Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technolog y that provides access to local area networks. Use your device’ s Wi-Fi feature t o : • Access the internet for br owsing or to send and receive email.
Connections 36 Scan and Connect to a Wi-Fi Network When you turn on Wi -Fi , yo ur device searches for and displays available W i-F i co nnections. 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings . Under Wireless and Networks , touch Wi-Fi . 2. T ouch ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on.
37 Wi-Fi Settings Set up and manage wireless access points. 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings . Under Wireless and Networks , touch Wi-Fi . 2. T ouch ON/OFF to turn Wi-Fi on. 3. T ouch Menu for options: • Advanced . – Wi-Fi notifications : Receive a notification when new Wireless Access Points (W APs) are available.
Connections 38 W i-Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct allows device-t o-device connections so you can transfer large amounts of da ta over a Wi-Fi connection. Both your device and the target device must b e enabled for Wi-Fi Direct communication. Th is connect ion is direct and not via a hot spot or Wireless Access Point (WAP).
39 Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology for exchanging in fo rmation over a distance of about 30 feet. Y ou do not need to line up the devices to send information w ith Bluetooth. If the devices are in range, you can exchange information between the m — eve n if they are in differ ent rooms.
Connections 40 5. From the list of scanned devices, touch the target device, then fol low the prompts to com plete the pairing: • If the target device require s a PIN, enter a PIN for the target device and touch OK . When prompted, enter the PIN on the target device.
41 Send Information Using Bluetooth Y ou can use Bluetooth to transfer information between your tablet and another Bluetooth-enab led device such as a tablet or notebook computer . The first time you transfer information between your table and another device, you need to enter or confirm a security passcode.
Connections 42 R eceive Data Using Bluetoo th Y our tablet is capable of receiving a wide variety of file types with Bluetooth , inc l uding phot os, audio files, and documents such as PD Fs. Note: Y our tablet must already be paired to the target device in order to share files.
43 Bluetooth Settings 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings . Under Wireless and Networks , touch Bluetooth . 2. T ouch ON/OFF to turn Bluetooth on. 3. To u c h Menu for options: • Visibility timeout : Set the length of time your tablet is visible to other devices when you turn on visibility .

45 Allow ed Device List Control whether devices connect to your Mobile Hotspot with the Allowed device list. After you add devices to the list, they can scan for your device and connect usin g your device’ s mobile hotspot name and password without making your hotspot visibl e.
Connections 46 • Show password : Enable to make the Password field visible. • Show advanced options : Enable to access advanced options, including Broadcast channel, to specify the channel your device uses for Mobile Hot spot.
47 Bluetooth T ethering Before starti ng, pair the target device with your tablet, and then configure it to obtain its network c onnection by using Bluetooth. 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings . Under Wireless and Networks , touch More settings .
Connections 48 Connecting to a VPN 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings . Under Wireless and Networks , touch More settin gs ➔ VPN . 2. T ouch the VPN to which you wan t to connect. 3. In the pop-up window, enter any requested credentials.
49 Connecting as a Mass Stor age De vice Y ou can connect your device to a PC as a removable disk and access files on both the device and an installed memory card (not included). Note: The file directory of the memo ry card displays as Card , separate from the int ernal memory , which is Ta b l e t .

53 Calendar Use this applica tion to manage events and tasks. To u c h Calendar . Creating Ev ents or T asks 1. T ouch and use one of the following methods: •E v e n t : Enter an event with an optional repeat setting. •T a s k : Enter a task with an optional priorit y setting.

57 Configuring Settings for Camera T ouch to configure settings for Camera. Not all of the following options are a vailable in both still camera and video camera modes. The available options vary depending on the mode used. Camera •P h o t o s i z e : Select a resolution.

59 Email Use Email to view and manage all your email accounts in one application. To u c h Email . Set Up an Email Account T o create your fi rst email account: 1. T ouch Email . The first ti me you set up an email account, the Set up email screen displays.

63 • Copy to c lipboard : Copy to clipboard. •P r i n t : Print the image via a USB or Wi-Fi connection. Some printers may not be compatible with the device. •R e n a m e : Rename the file. • Buddy ph oto share : Send the image to a person whose face is tagged in the image.
Applications 64 T a gging Faces Faces in photos c an be recognized, allow you to tag them with the pers on’ s name. 1. T ouch Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Ta g s ➔ Face t ag to enable t he feature. 2. When a face is recognized, a blue frame appears around the recognized face.
65 Note: Y ou can use more than one Google Account on your device. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings ➔ Accounts ➔ Add account to add an additional Goog le Account. Composing and Sending Gmail 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Gmail .
Applications 66 Google Now Google Now recognizes repea ted actions performed on the device (including accessing loca tions, repeated calendar appointments, search querie s, and more). Google Now uses these actions to automatically send updates for us er -specific information in the form o f “cards.
67 Hancom View er Hancom Office Viewer opens and ma nages Hancom Office Hanword (*.hwp) and Hanshow (*.show) documents. To u c h Hancom Viewer . Hangouts Google Hangouts is an online place to meet friends and family , share phot os, and host video calls.
Applications 68 Memo Use this application to r ecord important information to save and view at a l ater date. To u c h Memo . Viewing a Memo T ouch the memo thum bnail to open it. • T o edit the memo, touch the content of the memo. • T o delete the memo, touch Delete • T o send the memo to others, touch Share via .
69 Music Use the Music applica tion to listen to music. Y ou can listen to music using your device’ s built-in speakers, through a w ired headset, or through a Bluetooth headset.
Applications 70 T o listen to songs at equal volume levels: To u c h Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Player ➔ Smart volume . Caution! When Smart volume is activated, the volume may end up louder than the device volume level. Use caution to avoid long-ter m exposure to loud sound s to prevent damage to your hearing.
71 T o add the currently-playing song to a playlist: When viewing the song listing, t ouch and hold a song, and then touch Add to playlist . – or – When viewing a single song in fullscree n mode, touch Menu ➔ Add to playlist . Playing Music by Mood Play music grou ped by mood.

81 Air plane Mode Airplane mode allows you to use many of your tablet’ s features, such as the camera, musi c and video apps, etc. when you are in an airplane or in any other area where accessing data netw orks is prohibited. Important! When your tablet is in Airplane mode, it cannot access online informa tion or applications .

85 Nearby De vices This option allows you to s hare your media files with nearby devices via Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Dire ct, or using Mobile Hotspot. War ning ! If file sharing is enabled, other devices can access your data. Use this option with care. 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings .

Settings 90 Unmounting an SD Card 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings . Under Device , touch Storage . 2. T ouch Unmount SD card . 3. At the prompt, select OK to safely unmount the memory card. 4. Remove the SD card fr om the slot. F or more information, refer t o “Installing a Memor y Card” on page 8.

Settings 94 User s Shared this tablet with multipl e people by creating User accounts and Profiles. Users have the ir own space, wh ich they can customize with their own apps, wallpa per , and so on. Users can also adjust tablet settings like Wi-Fi that affect everyone.
95 Change User Acc ount Nicknames and Photo IDs The name and photo each user us es i n their personal Contact entry (listed under ME at the top of their Contacts list) is used as their user name and photo. 1. From a Home screen, touch Apps ➔ Settings .
