5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to start using your phone by fi rst configurin g your hardware, activating your ser vice, and then setting up your voice mail.

Getting Started 10 Important !: Verify that the handset batter y is installed prior to connecting the travel adapter . If the batter y is not installed and the tr av el adapter is connected the handset continuously power cycles and prevents proper operation.

25 Section 4: Call Functions This secti on desc ribes how to make or answer a call. It al so expl ains the features and functional ity ass ociated with making or answe ring a call. Making a Call When the idle screen displays, enter the num ber you wish to dial and press the key .
Call Functions 26 R edialing the La st Numb er The phone stores the numbers of the calls you’v e dialed , receiv ed, or mi ssed if the call er is i dentifi ed. T o recall any of these numbe rs: 1. If you typed characters on the display , pr ess the key to retu rn to Idle mode.

Call Functions 28 All calls This menu lets you view the 9 0 most rece nt calls you received , dialed, and missed. The name or n umber , if already s tored in y our Phonebo ok, displa ys with t he number o f occurre nces for ea ch number .

Call Functions 30 Vibr ation profile Vibra tion profil e is convenie nt when you wish to stop the phone from making any noise, (in a theater for exam ple). In Idle mode , press and hold the key unt il the “ V i bration profil e on ” message and the Vibr ation profile icon ( ) display .

Call W a iting The Call wa iting option must be set to Activ ate before you can answer an incoming call while ano ther call is in progress.
Call Functions 34 4. T o join the first parti cipant to this m ulti-part y call, pres s Options ➔ Join . Note: These first two calls are then grouped together on screen and displayed with an adjacent number corresponding to the order in which the calls were made.
35 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to select the desired text input mode when entering characters into your phone. This section also de scr ibes h o w to use the T9 p redi c tive text system to reduce the number of ke y stroke s assoc iated with e ntering text.
Entering T ext 36 3. Shift converts the alphabetic charac ter into uppercase. Cha nges the text inp ut mode to Upper/Lo wer case mode. 4. Alt allows you to use characters displayed at the top of the QWERTY keys. Ex amples: $, @, #, ! 5. Symb ol displays the Symbols page.

Entering T ext 38 • T o shift case in ABC mode, press . There are 3 case s: Capital lock, Init ial ca pital, and Lower case. Note: Y ou can move the cursor by using the Navigation keys. T o delete letters: 䊳 Press . Press and hold the key to c lear the display .
39 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictive text inpu t mode that allows you to key in any charac ter us ing single keystr okes. This tex t input mode is b ased on a b uilt- in dictio nary . T o enter a word in T9 mod e: 1. When you are in T9 m ode, press any one of the le tter keys t o enter a word.
Entering T ext 40 1. T o insert the sym bol a s ymbol, press the correspo nding number key . 2. T o display more symb ols, press the Up and down Navigation keys. 3. T o clear the symbol(s) , press . When the i nput field is empty , this key returns th e display to the previous mode.

Messaging 42 Missed M essages T a b The Missed Messages T ab is an area that displays on th e screen when a missed call , picture message, or voice mail is sent to the phone. There are three View ta bs that display icons: 1. T e xt / Picture / Aud io Pos tcard message 2.
43 T ext Messages Short Message Ser vice (SMS) se nds and receives short text me ssages to and from other mo bile phones. In addition, the phon e automatica lly swi tches to a picture message when you atta ch images , melo dies, and animated images i n messages.

Y ou can enter up to 2000 standard Alphabet characters per page in your message, and the messa ge can be up to 20 pages long.

Messaging 56 – Reject ano nymous : automatically re jects messages with a category of anonymous. – Reject adv ertisement : automatically reject s messages with a category of advertisem ent. Auto Resize Image 1. Select one resiz e option: No resize , 100 KB , 300 KB , or 600 KB .

Changing Y our Settings 84 Wallpaper This menu allows you to cha nge the background image to display in Idle mode. Wallpaper sett ings can only be used in the open/ landscape mode.

Impo rtant! : Note: The Bluetooth feature must first be disabled before initiating a USB connection with the phone. Changing Y our Settings 88 The Change password feature al lows you to ch ange you r current phon e password t o a new o ne. Y ou must enter th e current password before you can specify a new one. Once you en ter a new pass word, you are asked to c onfirm the chan ge by entering the password again.
89 The Change PIN2 fea ture al lo ws you to change your current PIN2 to a ne w one. Y ou must first enter the current PIN2 (obtained from T -Mobile) befo re you can specify a new one. Once yo u enter a new PIN2, you are as ked to re-ent er the new PIN2 to as confirmati on.
Changing Y our Settings 90 Memor y Settings Memor y settings allow you to view deta ils about the phone’ s memor y , and the m emor y card, if one is instal led. Memor y settings is only ava ilable in open/landscape mode. Clear pho ne memor y From this menu you can clear the memo ry f or Media, Messa ging, Phonebook, Calendar , T asks or Memo.
91 The display shows the total space inc luding the used a nd free space. Y ou can also view how much space i s currently occupied by each message box. Y ou can also check how man y names a nd numbers are stored on the Phone, on the SIM card, and the FDN list.

93 3. Use the Up or Down Naviga tion key to select the T ime and Date settings, a nd enter the desired values. 4. Press Save to save your changes, or Back to cancel. Note: Automatic upda tes of time and date do not change the time set for alarm settings or calendar memos.
