READY 23 Connecting to Power There are two ways in which to provide the camera with power. You can use batteries or alternatively, you can use an AC(100 ~ 250V) Adapter (DC 3.3V 2.0A). We recommend using batteries for a digital camera.(Within a year from the date of manufacture) The batteries are listed below.
24 Connecting to Power Battery condition indicator There are 3 indicators for battery condition that are displayed on the LCD monitor. 1 . Open the battery chamber cover by pushing in the direction of the arrow. 2. Insert the batteries taking note of the polarity (+ / -).
READY 25 Connecting to a Power Source If you have access to a mains supply, using an AC Adapter allows the camera to be used for long periods of time. If you connect the camera to a computer, it is advisable to use an AC adapter, as this will enable extended use.
26 Inserting the SD memory card The camera comes with 16MB of internal flash memory, allowing you to store images and movie clips in the camera. However, you can expand the memory capacity by using an optional SD memory card([CARD] stands for the SD memory card) so that you can store more images and movie clips.
27 READY Removing the SD memory card 1. Turn the power off using the power switch. 2. Open the card cover and press the CARD as shown in the image and release. 3. Remove the CARD and close the card cover. Don ’ t remove the CARD when the camera status LED(green) is blinking as this may cause damaged data in the CARD.
28 Instructions on how to use the memory card - Turn off the camera power whenever the memory card is being inserted or removed. - Repeated use of the memory card will eventually reduce the memory card ’ s performance. Should this be the case, you will need to purchase a new memory card.
READY 29 Instructions on how to use the memory card If there is no card, the SD memory card indicator will not be displayed in the LCD monitor. If there is insufficient memory available: - If you press the shutter button for the shot, the following message is displayed and the camera will not operate.
30 Starting Recording Mode If the CARD is inserted in the camera, all the camera functions are applied only to the CARD. If the CARD is not inserted in the camera, all the camera functions are applied only to the internal memory. 1. Insert the batteries (p.
RECORDING 31 Starting Recording Mode Even though you can select any movie clip recording time in the MOVIE CLIP mode menu, the available recording time will be determined by available memory capacity. Camera shake warning. When the Flash Off mode is selected, the camera shake warning indicator ( ) may appear on the LCD monitor.
32 Using the camera button to adjust the camera The STILL IMAGE/MOVIE CLIP mode function can be set up by using the camera button. POWER switch Used for turning the camera power on / off. The camera power will be turned off automatically during periods of inactivity.
RECORDING 33 Using the camera button to adjust the camera MENU button When you press the MENU button, a menu related to each camera mode will be displayed on the LCD monitor.
34 Focus switch Before taking an image, you have to check that the Focus switch is in the desired position. As there can be some differences between what is seen through the Viewfinder and the resulting image when taken at a range closer than 1.5m, it is recommended that you use the LCD monitor to compose the shot.

36 4-function button Images taken using the digital zoom may take a little longer for the camera to process. Allow time for this to take place. The digital zoom cannot be used in the MOVIE CLIP mode. You may notice a decrease in image quality when using digital zoom.
RECORDING 37 Selecting the Auto flash The default is OFF. The self-timer LED lamp(red) will blink for 10 seconds after the SELF-TIMER button has been pressed. - For the first seven seconds, the LED blinks at 1 second intervals. - For the final three seconds, the LED blinks quickly at 0.
38 4-function button Flash mode indicator FLASH MODE Indicator Definition Auto & Red eye reduction Auto flash If the subject or background is dark, the camera flash will operate automatically. If a subject or background is dark, the camera flash will work automatically and will reduce the red-eye effect by using the red-eye reduction function.
RECORDING 39 Using the LCD monitor to adjust the camera Recording functions can be changed by using the LCD monitor. In the RECORDING(STILL IMAGE/MOVIE CLIP) mode, pressing the MENU button displays the menu on the LCD monitor. The following functions are available, depending on the mode you have selected (STILL IMAGE, MOVIE CLIP ).
40 Image size In the STILL IMAGE mode, you can select the image size. A large image uses more memory, so increasing image size will reduce the total number of shots you can store on a memory. The image sizes are listed below. 2048X1536 1600X1200 1024X768 640X480 Selecting the image size 1.

42 White Balance Different lighting conditions may cause a color cast on your images. The white balance control allows you to adjust the colors to appear more natural looking. The changed white balance value is maintained until the camera power is off.
RECORDING 43 Exposure This camera automatically adjusts the exposure according to the ambient lighting conditions. However, you can select the exposure value by using the [EXPOSURE] sub menu. In the STILL IMAGE mode, you can select the exposure value.
44 Movie clip recording time This menu will display only in the MOVIE CLIP mode You can select the movie clip recording time. Selecting the exposure value 1. PLA Y 45 Starting the Play Mode Turn the camera on and select the PLAY mode by rotating the mode dial. The camera can now play back the images stored in the memory. You can set up the PLAY mode function by using the camera buttons and LCD monitor. 1. Slide the power switch to turn on the camera.

52 The PLAY mode functions can be changed by using the LCD monitor. In the PLAY mode, pressing the MENU button displays the menu on the LCD monitor. Deleting an image An unprotected image can be deleted in this menu. (A protected image can’t be deleted.

PLA Y 55 Setting up the play back function using the LCD monitor Images can be displayed continuously at pre-set intervals. This is useful and convenient for checking recorded images and for presentations. You can select the slide show play back time( between 1 and 9 sec) 1 .
56 This is used to protect specific shots from accidental erasing (LOCK). It also releases images that have been previously protected (UNLOCK). Protect indicator The unprotected image does not have indicator. Setting up the play back function using the LCD monitor 1 .
57 PLA Y Setting up the play back function using the LCD monitor This function allows you to embed print quantity information on your memory card. Images can then be printed on DPOF printers, or at an increasing number of photo laboratories. This function is not available for Movie clips.
58 A beep will sound when you press the camera button and you can check the camera conditions. Rotate the mode dial to the SETUP mode, allowing you to set up the basic camera settings. 1. Select the SETUP mode by rotating the mode dial. 2. [SETUP 1/2] menu will be displayed.
SETUP 59 Starting the SETUP mode This function switches the camera off after a set amount of time in order to prevent unnecessary battery drainage. You can set the power to switch off at any specified time( 1 ~ 10MIN, 1MIN interval) from the last operation.
60 Starting the SETUP mode There is an option to include DATE on still images. 1. Select the SETUP mode by rotating the mode dial. 2. [SETUP 1/2] menu will be displayed. 3. Press the UP ( )/ DOWN ( ) button and select [DATE IMPRINT]. 4. Press the SET( ) button and the sub menu will be displayed.
SETUP 61 Starting the SETUP mode You can select the date type that is to be imprinted on the image. - YYYY/MM/DD : year /month/ day - MM/DD/YYYY : month/ day /year - DD/MM/YYYY : day /month /year 1. Select the SETUP mode by rotating the mode dial. 2. [SETUP 1/2] menu will be displayed.
62 Starting the SETUP mode The selection range for date/time setup covers from 2000~2099. (It is automatically programmed to allow for a leap year/ month) INFORMA TION If the batteries or AC adapter are removed, it is necessary to reset the time /date.
SETUP 63 Starting the SETUP mode You can briefly review the last image captured. You can select the review time from a choice of CANCEL/ 1/ 2/ 3 SEC. 1. Select the SETUP mode by rotating the mode dial. 2. [SETUP 1/2] menu will be displayed. 3. To shift the menu cursor to [SETUP 2/2], press the RIGHT( ) button.
64 The changed language is maintained until a new language is selected. INFORMA TION There is a choice of languages that can be displayed on the LCD monitor. You can select English/ Korean/ German/ French/ Spanish/ Italian/ Taiwanese/ Chinese. 1. Select the SETUP mode by rotating the mode dial.
SETUP 65 Starting the SETUP mode This menu allows you to reset all the camera settings to the default. 1. Select the SETUP mode by rotating the mode dial. 2. [SETUP 1/2] menu will be displayed. 3. To shift the menu cursor to [SETUP 2/2], press the RIGHT( ) button.
66 Starting the PC mode The camera driver must be installed before using PC mode. To save battery power, it is recommended that you use an AC adaptor(Optional) when connecting the camera to a computer. INFORMA TION If you insert the USB cable into a USB connection terminal, the camera working mode will change to the PC mode automatically.
SETUP 67 Starting PC mode Downloading stored images Once you have downloaded images to your PC, they can be edited and printed. 1. Connect the camera to your PC with the USB cable. 2. On your computer’s desktop display, select [My computer] and double click [Removable Disk DCIM 100SSCAM].
68 Starting PC mode 6. Press the right mouse button and a pop-up menu will open. Click [Paste]. 7. An image file is transferred from camera to your PC. - By using [Digimax Viewer], you can see the stored images in the memory directly on the PC monitor and you can copy or move the image files.

Whilst it is designed to withstand general wear and tear, there are some important points that will help you get maximum service and reliability from your camera. The following should be avoided : Severe changes in temperature and humidity.
