Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section helps yo u to quickly start using your device. Understanding T his User Manual The sections of thi s manual generally foll ow the features of your device. A robust index for features begins on page 137.
5 Batter y Y our device is powered by a rechargeable, standard Li-Ion battery . A Wall/USB Charger (Cha rging Head and USB cable) are included with the dev ice for charging the battery . Note: The battery comes partially charged. Y ou must fully charge the batter y before using your device for the first time.

Plug the Charging Head into a standard AC power outlet. 5. When charging is complete, unplug the Charging Head from the power outl et and remove the USB c able from the device.

Understanding Y our Device 24 Apps Scr een The Apps screen holds all applications on your wire less device. Applications that you download and install from the Android Market or from the web are also added to the My apps screen. The Apps icons are arrange d in alphabetic order .
25 Calendar : Record events and a ppointments to manage your schedule. A shortcut to Calendar appears on a Home screen by defa ult. Fo r more info rmation, refer to “Calendar” on page 84. Camera : T ake photos or reco rd videos. For more information, refer to “Camera” on page 68.
Understanding Y our Device 26 Movie Studio : Use Movie Studio to edit the videos you take with the camcorder or co py onto your tablet into movies. Y ou can cut and order scenes, add a sound track, and so on. For more information, refer to “Movie Studio” on page 90.

Entering T ext 28 Section 3: Entering T ext This section describes how to en ter words, letters, punctuation and numbers when yo u need to enter text. Vir tual QWERTY Keyboard Y our device uses a virt ual QWERTY keyboard for text entry .
29 Entering Upper and Lower Case Letters The default case is lower case (a bc). Enter upper and lower case alphabet letters by touching the Shift key to to ggle the case, before touching th e letter key(s).
Entering T ext 30 6. Continue typing your message. XT9 mode can also be used in the portrait orientation. Editing T ext Y ou can e dit the text you enter in text fields by cutting, copying, or pasting text. These operations can be performed within and across apps.
31 3. Depending on the action you want to take for the selected text, in the Application bar touch Cut to remove the selected text, Copy to save the selecte d text to the clipboard, or Pas te to replace the selecte d text with text previously saved to the clipboard .
Contacts and Accounts 32 Section 4: Contacts and Accounts This section explains how to manage cont acts and accounts. Accounts Y our device can synchronize with a variety of accounts. With synchronization, information on your device is updated with any information that cha nges in your accounts.

35 Link ed Contacts Y our device can synchronize wi th multiple accounts, inc luding Google, Corporate Exchange, and other email providers. When you synchronize contacts from th ese accounts with y our device, you may have multiple cont acts for one person.

41 • Gmail account settings – Gmail sync for this account is ON/OFF : Indicates whether you have Gmail synchron ization turned on for this account in the Account & sync settings. T ouch to open those settings . – Labels to Sy nc : Choose which labels are synchronized.
Messaging 42 • Sync email from this account : For accounts t hat can sync differ ent kind s of inf ormation, check to s ync email be tween your tablet and the emai l ser vice.

Messaging 44 • Notification setting s : – Email notification s : When enabled, the New Email icon appears in the Status Bar when a ne w email arrives. – Select ring tone : Choose a rington e for email notifications for this account. – Vibr a te : When enabled, email n otifications for this accounts are accompanied by vibration.
45 – IMAP se r ver : The fully resolved d omain name of your email ser vice provider’ s IMAP server , for example, imap.e mailprovider .com. – Security type : Select the security t ype required by your email service provider .
Messaging 46 • Require sign-in : Check this option to e nter a username and password for your SMTP server , if your email service provider requires that you enter them to send email. • Username : Y our username on the SMTP server (this may not be the same as your username on the POP3 or IM AP serv er for incoming mail).
47 If your friend accepts your in vitation, they are added to your Fri ends list in T alk and you can sh are each others status in T alk and other a pplications.

Selecting items on a page While browsing, use gestures and menus to navigate: • T ouch an item to select it. • T ouch a hyperlink to follow the link. • T ouch and hold on a hyperlink for these options: – Open : Open the linked page.

57 Latitude With Google Latitu de, you can see the location of all of your friends on a map or on a list. Y o u can also share or hide your location. Y ou must first set up your tablet to use wireless networks to help pinpoint your location. Also, Lati tude works best when Wi-Fi is enabled.

69 Camera Options Before you start taking photos, use the camera opt ions to configure the camera for best results. Camera options are represented by ic ons on the left side of t he screen. Photos and Video 72 Camcorder Options Before you start recording videos , use the camcorder options to configure the camcorder for best results. Camcorder options are represented by icons on the left si de of the screen.

79 Section 9: Connections Y our device includes features to connect to the internet and to other devices by using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or a USB cable. Wi -F i Wi-Fi is a wireless networking tech nology tha t provides access to local area networks.
Connections 80 Scanni ng and Co nnect ing to a Wi- Fi Net work When you turn on Wi-Fi, your de vice searches for available Wi-Fi connections, then displays them on screen. 1. From any screen, sweep your finger downward from the top to display the Notification Panel.
81 Pairin g with a Blu etoot h Device Search for a Bluetooth de vice and pair with it, t o exchange information between your device and th e target devi ce. Tip: After pairing, your device and the target device recognize each other and exchange information without having to enter a passcode or PIN.

Settings 100 A uto-Rotate Scr een When this op tion is checked, th e screen orientation changes when you rotate the device. When this option is not checked, the screen orientation locks in the current orientation (landscape or portrait) and the orientation does not change when you rotate the device.
