Introduction Thank you f or purchasing the SZ series constant v oltage power amplifiers from Samson T echnologies! The Samson SZ Series amplifiers have been designed to pr ovide robust, clean output with lo w distor tion and wide dynamic range, along with the dependability demanded by the most pr ofessional design engineers and audio installers.
SZ Series F eatur es POWER The Samson SZ Series power amplifiers have been developed using the latest technology in amplifier design. Here are some of their main features: • Each SZ Series amplifi.
SZ Series Lay out - F ront P anel 1: Handle - F or easy transport while car r ying, or while rack mounting , the SZ amplifier featur es two heavy duty , die cast handles located con veniently on the left and right side of the front panel . 2: F an V ent - The SZ series amplifers sta y cool thanks to the for ced-air cooling vents .
SZ Series Lay out - Rear P anel 1: A C INPUT - Connect the supplied heavy- gauge 3-pin “IEC ” power cable her e. 2: DC 24V INPUT – A two circuit Eur oblock socket is provided f or connecting 24 volt emergency back-up power .
Designing an Installation Plan If you are a prof essional installer , you ’ll probably want to skip over this section, however if y ou are setting up your system f or the first time, this section can help make your installation a little bit easier .
Using A c tive Speak ers In a larger installation, you may use a c ombination of passive speakers connected to y our SZ Series amplifier along with some active, or self pow ered speakers in a differ ent zone. When using active speakers, you can connect the S zone ’ s outputs using the balanced line level signals .
Designing an Installation Plan Using A C onstant V oltage Speaker System - c ontinued The same principle is applied in constant v oltage audio systems where a transf ormer is connected to the amplif.
4. If you are using outdoor horn speakers, swit ch on the High P ass Filter . 5. On the rear panel of the SZ Series, turn the input Adjust fully counter clockwise (to the “-12dB” setting). Then connect the supplied heavy-gauge 3-pin “IEC” cable to the rear panel IEC connector and to any gr ounded AC outlet.
The SZ Series P rotection Circuitr y As noted in the “Guided T our ” section of this manual, the SZ Series front-panel Pr otection LED indicates the activit y of the relay speaker connection circuitry . When the Pr otection LED is lit, this circuitr y is active, and all connected speakers are muted .
