Get ting Start ed With Spr int PCS Service Deter mine if Y our Phone is Alr eady Activ ated If you purc hased your phone at a Sprint Store, it is probably activated, unlocked, and read y to use. If you received y our phone in the mail, it probably has been activ ated; all you ma y need to do is unlock it.
Set ting Up Y our V oicemail All unansw ered calls to y our Sprint PCS Phone are automatically transf erred to your voicemail, ev en if your phone is in use or turned off. Therefore, y ou will want to set up your v oicemail and personal greeting as soon as y our phone is activated.

Ke y Functions 1. Softkey Buttons: Press the left or right softkey button to access the cor responding menu or function display ed on the bottom line. Press the right softkey button to access a text message, v oice message, or picture mail messag e in standby mode.
Section 2A: Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone – The Basics 10 V iewing the Display Scr een This list identifies the symbols you’ ll see on your displa y screen: shows your current signal strength. The more lines you ha ve, the strong er your signal. means your phone cannot find a signal.
indicates your phone is locked. indicates that your phone’ s ringing tones or war ning tones have been silenced. indicates Speakerphone mode is active.
T ur ning Y our Phone On and Off T urning Y our Phone On T o tur n your phone on, press f or approximately two seconds. Once your phone is on, y ou may see “System Searc hing, ” which indicates that your phone is searc hing for a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode – the phone’ s idle state.

T ip: Be sure to watch your phone’ s battery level indicator and charge the battery before it runs out of power .
Charging the Bat tery Y our Sprint PCS Phone comes with a rechargeab le batter y . Y ou should charg e the batter y as soon as possible so you can begin using your phone.
Displaying Y our Phone Number Just in case y ou forg et your phone number , your Sprint PCS Phone can remind you. T o display your phone number: Press ( Menu ) to access the main menu and then select Phone Book ( ) and My Phone # ( ). (Y our phone number and other information about your phone and account will be display ed.
Answer ing Calls 1. Make sure your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to v oicemail.) 2. When a call comes in, answ er the call by pressing or Flip Open. (T o set additional call answer options, please see "Call Answ er" on page 42.

In-Call Options During a call, an options menu is displayed when y ou press Menu ( ) (labeled Call Menu during a call). The following options ar e available through the menu during a call. T o select an option, press the cor responding keypad number or highlight the option and press .

Using One-T ouch/T w o-T ouch Speed Dialing With this f eature, you can dial Speed Dial entries using one key press for locations 2-9 or tw o key presses for locations 10-20. T o use One-T ouch Dialing for Speed Dial locations 2-9: Press and hold the appropriate key for approximately tw o seconds.
Enter ing T ext Selecting a Char acter Input Mode Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone provides conv enient ways to enter words, letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to enter te xt (for e xample, when adding an inter nal Phone Book entr y).
Enter ing Characters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T e xt Input lets you enter te xt in your Sprint PCS Vision Phone by pressing keys just once per letter . (T o select the T9Word mode when entering text, see “Selecting a Character Input Mode”on page 23.

Location Set tings Y our Sprint PCS Vision Phone is equipped with a Location feature f or use in connection with location-based ser vices that may be available in the future. The Location feature allows the netw ork to detect y our position. T urning Location of f will hide your location from everyone e xcept 911.
Messaging Notification Y ou can see a pop-up message notification when you r eceive a te xt message or V oicemail. 1. Press ( Menu ) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Messaging () . 4. Select Notification () . 5. Select Message and Icon or Icon Only with the Navigation key .

Air plane Mode When your phone is in Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receiv e any calls or access online information. Y ou may still use the phone’ s other featur es, such as Games, etc., while y ou are in Airplane Mode. T o set your phone to Air plane Mode: 1.

Phone Infor mation Displays the f ollowing information about your phone: Phone Number , Software V ersion, PRL, Hardware V ersion, User ID , Decimal ESN , Hex ESN , MSID , Browser V er sion, Browser Name, MCL V ersion, and the Icon list. 1. Press ( Menu ) to access the main menu.
Section 2C Set ting Y our Phone ’ s Secur ity In This Section Setting Y our Phone’ s Security By using the security settings on your Sprint PCS Vision Phone, you receive peace of mind without sacrificing flexibility . This section will familiarize you with y our phone’ s secur ity settings.
Set ting Y our Phone ’ s Secur ity Lock Phone When your phone is locked, y ou can only receive incoming calls or make calls to 911, Sprint Customer Ser vice, or special numbers. 1. Press ( Menu ) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Security ( ) and enter your lock code.

Erasing Y our Phone Book T o erase all the names and phone numbers in your int ernal Phone Book: 1. Press ( Menu ) to access the main menu. 2. Select Settings () . 3. Select Security ( ) and enter your lock code. Note: The default lock code is the last 4 digits of your phone number .
Reset ting Y our Phone Resetting the phone restores all the f actor y defaults, including the ringer types and display settings. The internal Phone Book, Call Histor y , Scheduler , and Messaging are not affected. 1. Press ( Menu ) to access the main menu.
Net Guard When you first connect to the Internet, the Net Guard will appear to confirm that you want to connect. T o avoid Net Guard in the future and connect directl y to the Internet, you may turn Net Guard off through the Settings menu. T o enable or disable Net Guard: 1.
