2 TABLE OF CONTENTS FINDING MODEL NUMBER This Operator’s Manu al is an important part of your new tiller. It will help you assemble, prepare and maintain the unit fo r best performance.
3 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES WARNING: This symbol points out import ant safety instructions whic h, if not followed, could endanger the person al safety and/or property of your self and others. Read and follow all instructions in this manual before atte mpting to operate this machine.
4 7. Never operate the machine at high transport speeds on hard or slippery surfaces. 8. Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling. 9. Look down and behind and use care when in reverse or pulling machine towards you. 10. Start the engine according to the instructions found in this manual and keep feet well away from the tines at all times.
5 SECTION 2: ASSEMBLING YOUR TILLER NOTE: R eferences to right or le ft side of the tiller are determined fr om behind the unit in the opera ting position. T o Remove Unit Fr om Carton • Remove staple s, break glue on top flaps, or cut tape at carton end an d peel along top flap to open carton.
6 • Push the cabl e through the ho le in the center of the handle and snap in t he plastic fitting. See Figure 3. Figure 3 • Remove slot head screw, nut, and two flat washers from the c lutch bail. See Figure 4. • Fasten the th readed eyebolt onto bail by securing from top with slot head screw, flat washers and lock nut.
7 NOTE: A secondary cable adjustment is available if you reach the point t hat additional adjust ment is needed. Remove the b elt cover and move the hex nuts at the other end of the cable toward s the end of the casing. Then r eadjust the hex nuts a t the handle.
8 • To shift into fo rward wheels and tine drive, push forward slightly on the gear selection handle and slowly engage the clutch control allowing the gears to synchron ize. • To stop forw ard movement and tine drive, relea se the clutch control. Do not shift gear s with the clutch control engaged except whe n engaging the tines.
9 T o Stop Engine • Move thrott le control to STOP or OFF position. • Disconnect spark p lug wire and ground to prevent accidentally starting while equipment is unattended . NOTE: After the firs t ten hours of oper ation, recheck the clutch adjustme nt.
10 SECTION 5: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Never attempt to make any adjustments while the eng ine is running, except where spec ified in operator’ s manual. Handle Adjustment The handle h eight may be adjusted to the desired height. Refer to the ha ndle adjustment in Know Your Tiller section.
11 Wheel Shafts Remove wheel assemblies and lubricat e the axle shafts at least on ce a seas on. Cleaning Tine Ar ea Clean the underside of the tine shield after each use . The dirt wa shes off th e tines ea sier if rinsed off immediately instead of after it dries.
