4 Pr oduct Overview The PR-4Zi is a four-zone, six-source A/V pr eam- plifier that offers independent control of sour ce, volume, and tone for each zone. In addition to standard pr eamplifier contr ols, the PR-4Zi allows zone settings to be stored and r ecalled.

7 W iring Instructions CONNECTING VIDEO MONITORS Each PR-4Zi zone has a composite video output to allow viewing video from any of six A/V sour ces. Connect monitors as shown in Figure 5 using RG6U cable with RCA type connectors. If mor e than two monitors are being used in a zone, a composite video distribution amplifier is r ecommended.
W iring Instructions FIXED ZONE LINE OUT: CREA TING SUBZONES The PR-4Zi has six buffered, fixed-level audio/video outputs as shown pr eviously in Figure 1 (p. 4). When set to FIXED ZONE LINE OUT (Figure 7), the last four outputs can be used to cr eate subzones of each main zone.

10 Contr ol Functions POWER – Controls power to entir e system. IR Receiver – Provides IR contr ol for Zone 1. ZONE SELECT – Selects current zone (1-4). ZONE SELECT Indicators – Shows current zone. SYSTEM ON & SYSTEM OFF – T urns all zones on or off.
Contr ol Functions 11 MEMOR Y PROCEDURE MEMORY allows for permanent storage of zone settings. Source, volume level, bass level, tr eble level, loudness, paging volume, and "SYSTEM ON disable" settings can be stored. Once stored, these settings can be accessed by pressing PRESET .

14 DSC/DAN KEYP ADS Once the PCK(IR) keypads have been wired, con- nect the DSC keypad’ s 16-pin header to the 16- pin receptacle on the side of the main keypad (see Figure 1a and 1b). Be sur e to keep the cor- r ect pin alignment. If you ar e using a DAN key- pad with the system, connect it to the input r eceptacle on the side of the DSC keypad.
15 IKP-1 INFRARED KEYP AD PROGRAMMER The IKP-1 is a programmer used to simplify and speed up the IR programming for the DAN and DSC IR learning keypads. Learning keypads that can be used with the programmer have a plug located at the front left. Refer to IKP-1 Instruction Manual for complete instructions.
16 Peripheral Devices P AGING The PR-4Zi has five paging inputs. The four Zone-Specific P AGE INPUTS allow for paging to all zones except the zone where the page origi- nates. The P AGE ALL input will allow paging to all zones. A page turns on all zones to their r espective pr eset paging volume (see Memory Procedur e, p.
Peripheral Devices 17 IR EMITTERS The PR-4Zi has seven IR outputs: Source 1–6 and Common. Sour ce 1–6 outputs are sour ce-specific and provide IR signals only to the selected source; the Common out- put provides IR signals to all sources.
18 Peripheral Devices PRC -1 REMOTE CONTROL The Russound PRC-1 remote contr ol is pr epro- grammed to operate more than 1,000 audio and video components, including the PR-4Zi. Set it up by simply punching in a three-digit code that matches your equipment.

20 Using the RS-232 Communications Por t CONTROLLER ADDRESS SWITCH SETTINGS Up to 16 zones can be controlled fr om a single RS-232 port by setting the Controller Addr ess Switch located left of the DB-9 connector (Figure 21).
