4 1 Application range The GPS-watch RUNGPS1 is equippe d with a navigati on system . The User’s locatio n can be determined by using the satellite network that surrounds the earth . This is possible at any moment and everywhe re in the world. The GPS-watch is dest ined for the use as a global syst em for determini ng the locatio n.
5 2 Safety and maintenance 2.1 Safety instructions Please read this chapter carefully and follow all the specified indications . This way you ensure the adequate functioning and a long period o f operation for your GPS-watch.

8 2.6 Environmental temperatu re The GPS-watch can be operated durably at an environmental temperature from 0 °C up to 50 ° C, and stored at an environmental temperature of -10 °C up to 60 ° C. Avoid high temperature s (e. g. in stopped vehicl es or under direct sun infl uence ) and permanent environment al humidity .
9 Charge the accumulator of the GPS watch only with a USB cable delivered together with it . If the accumulator is charged otherwise , this can lead t o overheating, explo sion or fire. Do not charge the accumulat or of the GPS watch near heat sources or in a car , under the powerful action of sunbeams .

11 Clean the GPS watch and che st strap only with a soft, moi st towel without naps . Do not u se diluent, corrosive cleaning agent or unde r the form of gas. Be careful not to leave water d rops on the display o f the GPS watch . Water may cause permanent st ains.

13 4 Start- up We recommend you to read the operating instructions carefu lly be fore starting-up the GPS watch. On the screen of th e GPS watch there is a protectio n film .
14 4.1 Charging the accumu lator of th e GPS watch The GPS watch has a lit hium-polyme r accumulator . Charge it for m inimum 3 hours bef ore the first use of t he GPS watch. To avoid corro sion , we recommend you to dry the contact points of the G PS watch well before starting a c harging process.
15 4.2 Chest strap Sens or front Sens or back Join the elast ic strap with the sensor. Put the elastic strap so that the sensor stays on the chest , under the pectoral muscles.

17 6 Modes of the GPS watch The GPS watch has the fol lowing main func tioning modes , whi ch can be changed simply by pressing the „MODE“ -button , being desc ribed more exactly i n the following cha pters.
18 6.1 Adjustment mode Press and hold down the „MODE“ -button in order to get to the adjustment mode . The following pages offer an image about the structure of the menu from the adjus tment mode: Menu structure Workout (Point 6.

23 System rese t operation In the setting mode select „Settings” point from the m enu „System“ „Sys Rese t“. Then select "On" to perfor m a system reset . By thi s, all the val ues, all the basic settings will be reset and all the dat a (paths , reference points , training hi stor ies , etc.
24 6.2 Time-mode Press the „M ODE“ -button until yo u reach time mode. This ap pears by t he followi ng screen display: In time mode there are the following sub- functio ns , with the „VIEW“ -button you can cho ose among them: Time and date Display of accumulator lev el Timer Alarm Dual Time 6.

27 Timer use: In the display mode Timer press the „ST./STP" butt on to start or stop the timer . If the timer i s stopped , press the "LAP/RESET" butt on , to reset the ti mer at the time se t previously. When timing is finished , during the last 10 seconds a Beep will be given for each second .

35 6.3.3 Train ing A-GPS The watc h has a function called “A - GPS” (Assisted global Po sitioning Syst em). A-GPS is a method, whi ch fastens the search fo r a good GPS-reception under bad weather conditions. Th e A-GPS data will b e saved on a ser ver and transferred to the watch via t he runtastic Connect .
36 Then the GPS watch does n ot know what satellite constellation it should wait and has to gat her the data agai n. Then there is warm start , in the best case it takes approximately 10 seconds .
37 When this symbol appears , e nough satellites we re found in order for the GPS watch t o determine a 3D po sition (with altitude ). If the sat ellites are lost a nd no position is det ermined, "GPS Lost" appears on the scre en , until a butto n is pressed.
38 Recording of lap ti mes During the traini ng , press the "LA P/RESET” button to record the time of a lap . For each wor kout, the maximum num ber of lap times is 99. Automatic recordi ng of lap times „La p - By - Distance ” By this function, laps can be automatically generated .

41 6.4 GPS-Navigation-mode Note: The GPS-Navigation-mode is availabl e on the watch but not supported by the software “runtastic Connect” yet. Therefore you can’t download routes to your watch and use GPS-navigation-mode yet. This function w ill be available in autumn 2012.

45 To save the batteries, the GPS-watch will stop searching after 5 minut es and will tur n off the GPS. Start/Stop Workout Press the “ST./STP.” -button when you are in the G PS- navigation mode to start or to stop the workout.
46 6.4.2 Go - to -display Enter the GPS-Navigation mode and press the “VIEW” -button several tim es, until yo u see the following di splay: You can choose a waypoint from the previous path by either pressing the “ST./STP.” or the “LAP/RESET” -button.

48 6.5.1 Compass ca libration The compass of the GPS watch must be calibrated: if the watc h is used for the first time. if the compass will be used in a place , which is not identic al to the place in which t he compass was calibr ated.
49 Example 1: Western de viation 23° and the c ompass shows 323° 323° - 23° = 300° Example 2: Eastern dev iation 22° and the c ompass shows 278° 278° + 22° = 300 ° Most of the maps have a small arrow , which ind icates where the magnetic North Pole is , how big the deviation is, respect ively (it is indicated in degrees).
50 8 Display brightness By pressing the "LIGHT" button, the display will be lit for ap proximately 5 seconds . Also , a permane nt brightness of the di splay is poss ible . To activate t he so- called "Night m ode", press and hold down the "LIGHT" button for approximatel y 5 s econds .

52 9.2 Replacement of the battery of chest strap Open the cover of the ba ttery compartment with a coi n , rotating counter clockwise . Take the old battery and place a new one of 3V type CR2032. Make sure the plus pole (+) shows upwards . Put back the cover from the batt ery compartment and cl ose it again , rotat ing clockwise .
53 10.3 Installing drivers for th e USB cabl e During the installation process of the runtastic Connect progam you will also install the necessary drive rs for the USB-port to your computer. Indication: We ar e not assuming any liability for damages on your computer.

57 13 FAQ/Correction of errors Before claiming the GPS watch , verify if the accumulators are charged and charge them if need be . Also , check the batteries from the chest strap and replace them if ne ed be.
58 How long does the ac cumulator of t he GPS watch last? The servic e life of the accumul ator is of 14 hours , when using the GPS, and of approx. 1 year in time mode. It doesn’t show m y current speed , why? Check if y ou receive eno ugh GPS signal.
59 Why when riding the bike, a different speed in comparison to the computer without bike cable i s shown ? Do not use the computer without bike cable and the GPS watch simultaneo usly . T he signals of the sensor from the b ike computer m ay disturb the GPS watch.
60 14 Warranty We pro vide a 24 months warranty f or t his product. The warrant y period begins on the date of purchase (till rec eipt, purchase voucher). Dur ing this period you will receive free of charge a new or repaired product. T he warranty does not i nclude ba tteries, improper handling, dropping, shock or the like.
