3 RF-HD3035 Introduction Congratulation s on the purchase of y our new Rocketfish RF-HD3035 external hard drive enclosure kit. The USB 3.0 Rocketfi sh 3.5" SA T A hard driv e enclosure lets you install a high-speed SA T A hard drive and connect it to a computer via a USB 3.
4 • Suppor ts Microsoft W indows XP , W indows Vista, and W indows 7 operating syst ems. • Suppor ts MA C OS X version 10.4 or higher operating system (USB 2.0 only). F or highest per formance and reliability , install the latest updates and ser vic e pack (SP).
5 RF-HD3035 • Make sure that you first touch an unpainted, grounded metal object to discharge any static electricity stored on y our clothing or body before t ouching any electronic components. • Handle the printed circuit board (PCB) edges only .
6 2 Plug the USB 3.0 B type connector into the US B port on the enclosure , then plug the USB 3.0 A type connector into an available USB 3.0 port on your co mputer . 3 Press the P ower button on the enclosure. The operating system aut omatically detects and sets up the new drive .
7 RF-HD3035 3 Double -click Driv e Setup . 4 In the list of drives, select the dr iv e you want to initialize, then click Initializ e . F ormatting the har d drive on y our Mac T o format y our hard drive with Mac OS Ex tended format: This method of formatting hard drives allows f or more efficient use of hard drive storage space.
8 Installing the soft war e The installation CD includes backup software to enable you to back up your files. Note : This Ro xio Back On T rack software runs only on W i n d o w s7 , W i n d o w sV i s t a , a n d W i n d o w s X P computers using USB.

11 RF-HD3035 Creating a custom ca tegory Most computer files are defined by the two-, three-, or four-letter extension placed at the end of their names.
12 T o open and run a saved Backup Files project: 1 Click File . If the project is listed on the F ile menu, select it. If the projec t is not listed, click Open and u se the d ialog b o x to n avigate to the project file.
13 RF-HD3035 Backup tip s • All of the discs used in a Back Up F iles pr oject must be the same general fo rmat. • In a multi- disc Back Up F iles project, files are assigned based on the size of the first disc you use.
14 Restoring files The Restore F iles project restores individual files and folders that you have protected using the Backup Files project. With Restore F iles, you select a backup, search f or the files or folder y ou would like to rest ore, and then click the action button.
