I NSTALLATION ENVIRONMENT The UPS and the Battery Box must be installed in ve ntilat ed, clean environ ments which are sheltered from bad weather. The relative humidity in the en vironment must not exceed th e maximum values sho wn in the Technical Data table.
T OWER VERSION T his chapter describes the steps for preparing the UPS and battery box for to wer version use. ATTENTION: For your safety and that of the product, you must carefully follo w the instructions given her e below.
T OWER VERSION WI TH BATTERY BOX BEFORE CARRING OUT THE FOLLOWIN G SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS, ENSURE THAT: • THE UPS IS COMPLETELY SWITCHED OFF AND NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAINS POWER SUPPLY OR TO ANY LOAD.
R ACK VERSION The sequence of oper ations to be followed in order to tra nsform the UPS or batter y box into rack version are d escribed elow. b BEFORE CARRING OUT THE FOLLOWIN G SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONS, ENSURE THA T: • THE UPS IS COMPLETELY SWITCHED OFF AND NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAINS POWER SUPPLY OR TO ANY LOAD.
USE C ONNECTIONS AND SWITCHING ON FOR THE FIRST TIME 1) Check that there is a protection dev ice agai nst overcurrents and short circuits in the system upstream from t he UPS. The recommended protection value is 10A (for the 1100VA and 1500VA versi ons) and 16A (for the 2200VA, 3000VA and ER versions) with a B or C trip curve.
D ISPLAY PANEL MESSAGES This chapter describes, in detail, the vari ous information that can be displayed on th e LCD. UPS STATUS MESSAGES ICON STATUS DESCRIPTION Fixed Indicates a fault Flashing T.
M EASUREMENT DISPLAY AREA The front panel can be used to display im portant UPS oper ating information. When the UPS is switched-on, the dis play shows the main voltage value. To display a different measur ement, press the “SEL” bu tton repeatedly until the des ired measurement a ppears.
C ONFIGURING THE OPERATING MODE The area of the display sh own in the figure displ ays the active operatin g mode and allo ws the user to choos e other modes dir ectly from the display panel. HOW TO PROCEED: • To access the configuration area, hold down the “SEL” button for at least 3 seconds.
REMOTE CONTROL TERMINAL BOARD The remote control terminal allo ws fo r implementation of the REPO function (Remote Em ergency Power Off) and to remotely switch on/off the UPS. The UPS is provid ed by the manufacturer with the REPO termi nals short-circuited.
S OFTWARE M ONITORING AND CONTROL SOFTWARE The PowerShield 3 software guarantees effective, intu itive UPS ma nagement, disp laying all the most important information such as input voltage, appli ed load and battery capacit y.
UPS CONFIGURATION The table below illustrat es all the possi ble configuratio ns available to the user in orde r to best adapt the UPS for individual requir ements.
C OMMUNICATION PORTS On the back of the UPS (see UPS Views ), the following communication ports are presen t: • RS232 connector • USB connector • Expansion slot for additional communic ation cards RS232 CONNECTOR RS232 CONNECTOR PIN # SIGNAL NOTES 1 Programmable output *: [default: UPS in lock] (*) Opto-isolated contact max.
B ATTERY PACK REPLACEMENT The UPS is also equippe d with a dedicated batter y pack that allows for easy replac ement of batteries ( hot swap ) in omplete safety, than ks to the protected connection system. c • WHEN THE BA TTERY P ACK IS DISCONNECTED , THE LOADS CONNECTED TO THE UPS A RE NOT PROTECTED IN THE EVENT OF A MAINS FAILURE.
3. Remove the battery pack's retentio n panel carryi ng out the operations sho wn in the figure below. 4. Slip off the batt ery pack pulling it to wards the outside, as shown in th e figure below . Be careful when ex tracting and lifting up the battery pack as it is heavy.
TROUBLESHOOTING Irregular UPS operation is not al ways an indication of a fault, and can be due to minor or eas y-to-resolve issues It is therefore advisable to co nsult the table below as it cont ains information which is usef ul for solving the most common UPS problems.
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION THE BUZZER SOUNDS CONTINUOUSLY AND THE DISPLAY SHOWS ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CODES: A54, F50, F51, F52, L50, L51, L52 THE LOAD APPLIED TO THE UPS IS TOO HIGH Reduce the load to within the threshold of 100% ( or user threshold in the case of code A54 ).
A LARM CODES Using a sophisticated s elf-diagnosis system, the UPS is abl e to check its o wn status for any anomalies and/or faults which may occur during norm al operation and display them on the display panel. If there is a problem, the UPS signal s he event by showing the code and the type of active alarm on the display (FAULT and/or LOCK).
¾ Active commands: Indicates the presence of an active remote command. CODICE DESCRIZIONE C01 Remote control 1 (Switch On/Off) C02 Remote control 2 (Load supplied b y the mains) C03 Remote control.
