12 OPERA TION INST ALLING BA TTER Y P ACK See Figure 4 - 5. n Lock the switch trigger on the drill by placing the direction of r otation (forward-r everse) selector in center position. n Place battery pack in the drill. Align raised rib on battery pack with the groove inside the drill.
13 OPERA TION This dri ll has an ele ctri c br ake. Whe n th e t rigg er s witc h is released, the chuck stops turning. When the brake is functioning properly , sparks will be visible thr ough the vent slots on the housing. This is normal and is the action of the brake.
14 OPERA TION INST ALLING BITS See Figure 9 - 10. n Lock the sw itch tri gger by placi ng the directi on of rotation selector in center position. n Open or close chuck jaws to a point where the opening is slightly larger than the bit size you intend to use.
15 OPERA TION INST ALLING DEPTH GAUGE ROD See Figure 11 - 12. A depth gauge rod has been packed with your hammer drill to assist you in controlling the depth of drilled holes.
16 BIT STORAGE See Figure 14. When not in use, the bit pr ovide d with this dri ll can be place d in the storage area located on the r ear of the drill. DRILLING See Figure 15. When drilling hard smooth surfaces use a center punch to mark desir ed hole location.

19 MAINTENANCE KEEPING THE CHARGER VENTS CLEAN The fan in this char ger will perform more efficiently if the air vents and ports are kept clean and dust-free. Periodically check the air vents for dust or other debris. T o clean the vents, unplug the charger .
