6 INSTALLA TION INST ALLING TH E HANDSET’S ANTENNA Insert t he antenna into the hole on th e top of the h and- set, then twist the a ntenna clockw ise u ntil i t is s ecure. SELECTING A LOCATION You can plac e the phone on a desk top, or mount it on a wall plate or directly on a wall.

9 Mounting Directly on the W all For this mounting method, you need two wood sc rews (n ot su pplied) wi th head s that fit into the keyhole slots on the mounting b racket . 1. At the desired mou nting location , drill two h oles 3 15 / 16 inches ( 100 mm) apart.

11 PREPARATION CONNECTING AND CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK The ET-9 27 comes wi th a recha rgeable nickel -cadmium b attery p ack in the handset, but not connected. Be fore us- ing your pho ne, you must con nect the battery pack, then char ge it for ab out 24 hours.
12 • If the phone stops operating prop - erly , check the bas e’s phone li ne cord and A C adapter conne ctions . If the connec tions are s ecure but the phone stil l does not work, unpl ug the base’ s AC adap t er from th e AC outlet and discon nect th e handse t’s battery pack.
13 ADJUSTING THE RINGERS The ET-92 7’s handset an d base each have four different r inger tones. Yo u can set the bas e’s and ha ndset’s ri nger tone, or turn off t he ringer on eithe r or both. T urning On/Off the Ringers To hav e the ba se ri ng when a call comes in , set RINGER ON/OFF on the back of t he base to ON .
14 OPERATION MAKING/ANSWERING CALLS To make a call, l ift the ha ndset and press TA L K . Whe n you hea r the di al tone, dial the number . To answ er a call when the handset i s on the base , just lift th e handse t and begin your c onversatio n.
15 USING MUTE The MUTE button on th e handset lets you ta lk to som eone else in the room without the person o n the oth er end of the phon e line hear ing your conver sa- tion. Pre ss MUTE durin g the ca ll. The BATT LO W indica tor on the ha ndset lights s teadi ly.
16 SPECIAL FEATURES MEMORY DIALING You can store up to 20 n umbers o f up to 16 digits each in the E T-927’ s memor y, then dial them with th e press of a few buttons. Storing a Number Notes: • Y ou mu st comple te these steps within 30 secon ds of ea ch other .

22 OUT-OF-RANGE INDICATIONS If you move the ET -92 7’s hands et out of the base’s range, the ha ndset will not operate p roperly. If you move the handset out of the base’s ran ge when th e handset is no t in use, the han dset’s BATT LOW ind icator flashes and the hands et beep s twice at 16-second inter vals.
