6 IN ST AL LA TION Important: Aft er you select a lo catio n for the phone (see “S electing a Loc a- tion”), you must in stall the phon e in the following orde r before you u se it for the fir st ti me. 1. Install the handse t’s antenna (see “Installing the Handset ’ s An- tenna” o n Page 7).
7 INST ALLING THE HANDSET’S ANTENNA Insert the antenna into th e hole at the top of the handset, then rotat e the an- tenna clockwise un til it is sec ure. CONNECTING THE BA TTER Y Your phone com es with a recharge- able nickel-c admium b attery in stalled.

If you are not sure wh ich type you ha ve, do t his te st. 1. Set TONE/P ULSE to TONE . 2. Lift t h e handset, press TA L K , and listen for a d ial tone.
13 OPE RA T ION CONFIRM A TION TONES When y ou press a butto n, the phone sounds a c onfirm ation t one to ind icate that it ac cepted the c omm and. If you are out of range or there is too much in- terference, the phone soun ds an error tone. Move t he handset closer t o the base and try again.

The hand- set beeps t hree times wh en someone presses and rel eases PA G E on the base. I f you press and hold down PA G E for about 2 seconds, the handset beeps three t imes for about 20 sec- onds.

17 DIALING A ST ORED NUMBER 1. Lift t h e handset from the cradle. (Press TA L K if y ou do not hear a dial tone). 2. When you hear a dial tone, press MEMORY an d then p ress the memory location number where the phon e number is st ored. The phone di als the stored number.

21 REPLACING THE BA TTER Y If you follow the inst ructions in “Cha rg- ing the Battery” on Page 8, the sup- plied battery should l ast about one year. When the batt e r y loses its ability to fully c ha rge, you should replace it with a new one (available at your local RadioShack store).
22 Your p hone might cau se T V or radio interference even when it is operating properly. To det ermine whe ther your phone is c ausing the in terference, turn off and unplug your phone and discon- nect the handset battery. If t he interfer- ence goes awa y, your phone is causing the interference.
