6 4. Plug the a dapter into a s tanda rd AC out let. Cautio n: You m ust us e a 120V AC/ 12V DC adapter that delivers at least 200 milliamps . Its plug mu st correctly fit the phone’s 12V DC jack. Th e sup- plied adapter meets these require- ments. Usin g an adapter that does not meet these requirements could dam - age the phone or the adapter.
7 I 5. nsert the supplied A C adapter ’s barrel plug into t he 12V DC jack on the back of the base. Th en route the adapter ’s cord through the right slot on the base’ s bottom and under the clip s as shown. Plug the adapter into a st andard AC out let.

12 OPE RA TION MAKING/AN SWERING A CALL You can use your cordless telephone in tw o wa ys: at t he base or aw ay f rom the ba se . Usin g the H andset at t he Base You can use the handset at t h e ba se like a reg ular corde d telephone. Just set the handset’s POWER to ON and place th e ha ndset in the cradle.
13 • When dialing a number, if you press a num ber and 3 sho rt beeps sound, you are ou t of the bas e’s range, the battery is too low , or there is too much interference on the line. Move t he handset cl oser to the base or r echarge the bat- tery , if necessary .
14 1. Be sure TONE/PULSE on the ba se is se t to PULSE . 2. Dial the s ervice’s main number . 3. When the service answers , press TON E . Then dial the additional numbers. The phone s ends these numbers as tone signals. 4. When you complete the call , place the hand set on t he cradle or pres s TA L K to disconn ec t the call.
15 Note: Wh ile you are storing a number in memory , if you do not press any button on the keypad within about 10 s econds, the handset be eps t hree times and you must press MEMO ag ain to store the telephone number . 3. Dial the number . 4. Press MEMO agai n.
16 At the a ppropriate plac e in the num ber, press REDIAL to ent er a 2-second pause. For a longer pause, pres s RE- DIAL a gain (eac h press en ters a 2-sec - ond pause). Dial ing a S tored Numbe r Follow these s teps to dial a n umber stored in memory.

20 REPLACING THE BA TTER Y If you follow the inst ructions in “Cha rg- ing the Battery, ’’ the supplied ba ttery should last f or ove r 1 year. When the battery loses its ability to fully ch arge, ord er a 3 .6 volt , 300 mi llia mp ba tte ry with a c onnector that fits the connector in the batt e ry compartment.
