8 Preparation ˆ Prepar ation Your modu le’s display is prot ect ed b y a pi ec e of plasti c fil m d ur- ing shi pment. Pee l off this film befo re you us e the mod ule. INSTALLING BATTERIES Your modu le requires fou r AAA batteries (not su pplied) to pr o- tect its mem ory during a pow er fa ilur e.

11 Preparation CONNECTING THE MODULE Your modu le connec ts to an y modular phone jack and yo ur phone. Yo u can also con nect it to an answ ering ma chine. Note: The m odule mi ght no t work with ol der pho nes, such a s West ern Electri c phones. Connecting t o a Single- Line Phone 1.
12 Preparation Follow these steps to co nnect two CID-947 mod ules to a two- line ph one. 1. Disc onnect t he telep hone lin e cord from the mod ular phon e jack (on the wall) and plu g it into L1+L 2 on the triple x adapter . 2. Plug the triplex ad apter into the mo dular p hone jac k.
13 Preparation Connecting t o an Answering Machine 1. Disc onnect t he phone line c ord th at conne cts yo ur answ er- ing ma chine to t he phone line fr om the ans wering machin e’ s jack. T hen plug it in to the m odu le ’ s TO LI NE ja ck. 2. Plug one e nd of th e supplie d line cord into the module’ s TO PHONE jack.
14 Preparation Attaching the Mounti ng Bracket 1. Align the slots on the bottom of the module w ith the ho oks on the mount ing br a cket . 2. Gently push the modul e down on the brac ket to secure i t. If you are p lacing t he modu le on a desk , shelf, or tab le, pull out the stan d on the b ack of the bracket until it clic ks.
15 Preparation 4. Attach t he mounting bracket to th e modul e (see “At taching the Mou nting Brack et” on Page 14). 5. Route the phone line cor ds and AC adap ter cor d through the sl ots on the ba ck of t he bra cket.
16 Preparation CHOOSING A LANGUAGE Your mo dule is progra m med to dis play m essages in Engl ish, but you can chan ge it t o displa y in Frenc h or Spa nish. 1. Hold down REVI EW and CAL L BACK for ab out 3 se c- onds un til the curre nt lang uage ( ENGLISH , ESPANOL for Spanish , or FRANCAIS for French) ap pears.
17 Operation ˆ Operation RECEIVING AND STORING CALLS Calle r ID is a ser vice prov ided by your telep hone comp any. When you subscribe to thi s servi ce, the tele phone com pany sends th e caller’s te lephone number (and na me, if avail able) and the call ’s date and time between the first and second rings .

21 Operation REDIALING FROM CALL RECORD MEMORY You can redial a telephon e number stored in the Ca ller ID’ s memory. 1. Press REVI EW or RE VIEW to view the des ired call record. 2. Lift you r phone ’s h andset an d check for a dial tone. 3. Press CALL BACK to redial the tele phone n u mber .
