10 PREPARATION INSTALLING A BATTERY You need on e 9V battery (not supplie d) to provi de backup pow- er for t he CID- 932’s me mory in th e even t of a pow er failure. For the bes t per formanc e, we rec om m end an alk al ine bat tery , av ai l- able at your local R adio Shack store.
11 Notes: • If you are not ins talling t he batte ry for th e first tim e, pres s any co ntrol bu tton an d disappe ars. • Repla ce the bat tery w hen appear s. • Repla ce the bat tery withi n 15 second s to avoid lo sing Calle r ID inform ation and Voi ce VIP me ssages t hat are stor ed in me mory.
12 2. Insert the hooks in to the sl ots and gentl y push the CID-93 2 down o n the br acket to snap t he brac ket onto the CI D-932. To remov e the bracket, fi rmly hol d the CI D-932 and pu ll up on the top o f the b racket .
13 CONNECTING THE CID-932 The CID- 932 conn ects to a modula r phone line jack an d your telepho ne. 1. Unplu g the telep hone l ine co rd from you r telep hone an d plug it into th e CID-9 32’s PHONE jack. 2. Plug the s uppli ed line c ord into the CID- 932’s LINE jack and t he other en d into the modul ar pho ne lin e jack.
14 Cautions: Y ou mu st us e a Cl ass 2 p ower source t hat su p- plies 9V DC an d deli vers a t l east 300 mA. Its ce n- ter tip must be set to posi tive and its plu g must fit the CI D-932 's DC9V jack . The s upplied adapte r meet s these s pecif ications .
15 SETTING THE TIME AND D ATE The time an d date are aut omatical ly set whe n the CID-932 firs t receive s a call . Subsequen tly, eac h inco ming call automat icall y updates the ti me and da te. To chan ge the time and date fol low the se steps . 1.
16 OPERATIO N RECEIVING A CALL After the first ring, the C ID-932 dis plays the caller’s te lephone numbe r (and name , if av aila ble ) and t he da te and time of the call for ab out one minu te, and an nounc es the calle r’s phon e number (or a recorded Voice VIP mess age, if one has been a s- signed to th at numbe r).

18 REVIEWING CALLER ID RE CORDS The CID-9 32 sto res the number, name, date and time of up to 50 calls, then begins repla cing th e olde st call recor d with each new one rece ived. You ca n revi ew call rec ords, wit h or wit hout vo ice announc emen ts any ti me th e CID-9 32 is not receiv ing a call.
19 DELETING CALLER ID REC ORDS To delet e an individ ual call record, press DELETE twi ce while the numb er you want to delete is display ed. The deleted num- ber disap pears and the next numbe r in the CID-93 2’s memo ry appears . To dele te all call records, h old down DELETE fo r at least six secon ds un t il NO CALL appears.
20 2. Press RECO RD and be gin speakin g immedi ately after the beep. RECORDING appears. 3. Record your mes s age within 2 seconds . The CID-932 immed i ately pl ays back the message, and displays the telepho ne number, then the mess age OK? PRESS RECORD appears.
21 3. Press PLAY to hear the Vo ice VIP messa ge for that num- ber. 4. If you want to re-record a message, pre s s RECORD , record y our message w ithin t w o sec onds, then pr ess RECORD again. Repea t Steps 2–4 to hea r or re-record any other Voic e VIP messa ges.
22 Repea t Steps 2–4 fo r other numbers you want to delete fro m the VIP Call list. If you do not press an y but ton fo r 20 seconds, th e CID-932 e xit s the VIP Call lis t and is ready to receive new calls. Press VOICE VIP to exit th e VIP Call list soo ner.
