4 CHOOSING A POWE R SOURC E You can pow er your CD p layer from : • Internal battery p ower (using two AA alkaline or re chargeable nickel-cadm ium batteries, not sup- plie d) • S tandard AC power.
5 • If you do not plan to us e the CD player from bat tery power f or a month or mo re, remove a nd store the batteries. They might leak chemicals and c orrode or dam age electronic circuits. Charging Nickel-Cadmium Batteries Nickel-cadmium batteries com e fully discharged.
6 Cha r gi n g Tips • Fully discharge the batteries occa- sionally by playing the CD pl ayer until it no l onger plays . Then fully recharge the batteries. This helps restore the bat teries’ full charging capacity . • Avoid charging the batteries in a hot environ ment (higher than 1 13°F).
7 USING VEHICLE BA TTER Y PO WER You can power your CD pla yer from your vehicle’s batte ry power using a 6- volt DC adapter such as Cat. No. 270- 1563. Cautio n: Th e recommen ded DC adapter suppli es regulated 6 v ol ts and delivers a t least 600 m illiamps.
8 CONNECTIONS You can listen to your CD-3445 by connecting stereo headphon es t o the CD player’s PHO NES jack or by con- necting ampl i fied spea kers or a h ome audio or aut osound syst em t o t he LINE OUT j ac k using the supplied Y-ad apt er cable.

Even tho ugh some hea dphones a re designed to l et you he ar some ou tside sounds when listening a t normal vol- ume level s, they still present a traffic hazard.
