9 CONNECT ING AN ANTENNA Attach the flexible antenna to t he anten- na jack o n top of the transceiver. P lace the antenna connec tor’s slots over the antenn a jack’s tabs , squeeze the base of the an tenna, and pu sh down a nd turn the conne ctor until the antenna locks into place.

11 WHY USE CTCSS? CTCSS (Continu ous Tone-Coded Squel ch System) helps el iminate inter- ference between di fferent users of the same f requency. When CTCSS is turned on, the t ranscei ver t ransm its a selected t one w ith your transmission. This tone is t oo low for y ou to hear, but other trans ceivers can detect it.
