5 HOW T H E SYST EM WO RKS Your secu rity system dete cts mov e- ment within a 180° arc up to 36 f eet away. Once your syst em i s arm ed, any movem ent wi thin this range autom ati- cally triggers the alarm.

7 PREP ARATION SELECTI N G A LO CAT ION For your secu rity sy stem to be most ef- fective , you need to install it in a location that me ets all of the following condi - tions: • Is near an AC o utlet. Note: I f your best location is not near an A C outlet, you can have an electricia n install an ou tlet for y ou.
8 • Does not directly face a window , heating or air condition ing ve nt, appliance, outside wall, or other heat sou rce. These sources coul d p roduce rapid temperature cha nges that the sys- tem might incorrectly identify as an intruder .
9 MOUNTING THE SYSTEM You c an m ount t he system on a wall o r simply pla ce it on a desk, table, or shelf. To mount t he syst em on a wall, use t he supp lied scr e ws, or screws suitable to the mount ing surface, to secure the mount ing bracket at the sel ected lo ca- tion.
10 CONNECTING TO POWER 1. P lug the power ada pter ’s barrel plug into the jac k on the back of the syste m. 2. Plug the power adapter into an AC outlet. CONNECTING TO THE T ELE PHONE LINE 1. Plug one end of the suppli ed mod- ular telephone c ord into the jack on the back of the system.
11 USIN G THE W ARNING STICKERS The four enclosed warning stickers are an import a nt p art o f your security sys- tem. Statistics show that homes with a securi ty syst em are 15 t i mes less li kely to be burglarized t han homes t hat do not ha ve a securi ty syst e m.
12 OPE R ATION ARMING THE SYST EM You can arm your syst em for eith e r de- layed or i nstant alert. When y ou arm th e s y stem for de- la y ed alert, the s ystem waits f o r the en- try delay before soundi ng the alarm. The default entry delay is 30 seconds, but you can have ORCA Moni toring Services set it t o be fr om 20 t o 275 sec- onds.
13 • I f you armed t he system for instant alert, you mu st disarm the system from a ph one you can reac h w ith- out setting off the alarm . • I f the entry del ay has elapsed , you must wa it f or the system t o contac t ORCA Monitoring Services and begin sound ing the siren be fore you can disarm the system.
