The det ector list ens for t he sir en from t he smok e alar m. When the det ector hears th e sir en, i t sends a s ignal t o the b ase, which sounds t he syst em’ s alarm .

7 CONNECTING TO THE SYSTEM Follo w th ese ste ps t o a dd the s iren detect or to your alarm syst em. 1. Press LEARN on th e sy stem ’s base. T he LEARN indic ator flas h es. 2. Enter y our acc ess code on the base’ s key pad. The LEARN i ndi- cator lig hts an d t he next avai l- able zone’ s i nd ic ato r fl ash es.

9 MOUNTING THE DETECTOR To ensure th e siren det ector de- tects the sm oke al arm whe n it sounds, mount the det ect or 4–6 inches f rom a UL -app roved smoke alarm (Cat . No. 49-4 66). Follo w these step s to mount the de- te cto r. 1. At the d esired mount ing lo cation , dr ill t wo ho les 1 3 / 4 inches apa rt , one above the ot her .
