2 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, incl uding the following: 1. Read and understand all instructions.

4 Introduction 4. Exercise care in handling the battery pack in order not to short it with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause bu rns.
Installation 5 and modular plug provided is Part 68 compliant for connecting to the telephone company ne twork. Ô 1. Plug one end of the supplied lon g modular cord into the TEL LINE jack on the bo ttom of the base. 2. Plug the other end of the modular cord into a modular phone line jack.
Installation 6 and you might hear an error tone. Return the handset to the base for about 3 seconds to reset the security access-protection code. • If the battery pack becomes weak during a call, the handset beeps every 3 seconds and T ALK/BA TT flashes.
Operation 7 If desired, use the la pel clip on the headset cord to attach the cord to your clothing. Leave en ough slack in the cord so you can move your head without pulling the headset. A TTACHING THE H EADSET H OLDER Insert the tabs on the headset holder into the slots on the back of the base and snap the holder into place.
Operation 8 S ELECTING THE C HANNEL The phone scans 20 channels (fre quency pairs used be- tween the base and the handset) and automatically selects a clear channel each time you make or receive a call. If you hear other conversations or you experience difficulty hearing the conversation, press CHANNEL to select a different channel.
Operation 9 S TORING A N UMBER IN M EMORY 1. Lift the handset. 2. Press MEMOR Y . T A LK/BA TT blinks. 3. Enter the number and any tone a nd pause entries (see “Using T on e Services on a Pulse Line” on Page 8 and “Entering a Pause” on Page 9).
Troubleshooting 10 TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Suggestions Low volume or unusual sounds. Someone has picked up another phone on the same line. Hang up the other phone. Make sure the headset’s plug is properly connected to the jack. Severe noise inter- ference.
Care 11 If you still have problems, disconnect the phone. If other phones on the same line work properly, the fault is in this phone or its installation . If you cannot find the pr oblem, take the phone to your local RadioSha ck store for assistance. CARE Keep the phone dry; if it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
