4 PREPARATION CONNECTING TO P O WER You can power yo ur Listen er from eith er an inte rnal battery or AC powe r. Using Battery Power To power the Liste ner from an internal battery, you need one 9-volt battery (not suppli ed). For the best performanc e and longest life, we recomme nd Ra- dioShac k alkali ne batterie s.
5 1. Insert a coin in to the slot betwee n the front and bac k halves of the c ase, and t wist it slightl y to separat e the halves, the n lift of f the front case.
6 Caution: If y ou do not plan to u se th e Li ste ner fo r a w e ek o r m ore , o r if you pla n to use only an AC adapte r, remove the battery. Batt eries ca n leak chem icals that can d es tr oy el ec tr oni c part s. Warn in g: Disp ose of old ba tteries prom ptly and prop erly.
7 Cautions: Y ou mus t use an AC adap ter that suppl ies at least 9 v ol ts DC pow er and deli v ers at least 30 0 milli amps . Its center tip must be set to po sitiv e, and its barrel plug m ust co rrectly f it th e Listene r’ s 9V DC jac k.
8 Note: Conn ecting the AC adapter auto matic ally disc onnects the intern al bat- tery. MOUNTING You can place the Liste ner on a fl at surf ace, suc h as a sh elf or d esk top, or mount i t directly on the wal l.

10 2. Rotate the volume co ntrol to abo ut its middle po sitio n ( 3 ). 3. Set ON/OFF to ON . Note: T o prevent feed back , do not place the su ction cup pickup coi l near the Listen er ’s spea ker . 4. Beca use telepho ne desi gns va ry greatly , you might ne ed to try at taching the picku p coil at di f- ferent locatio ns on your tele phone.
11 5. Whil e listen ing to the d ial t one throu gh the Listen er ’s spea ker , move the suctio n cup to dif ferent lo cation s on the phone . T ry the left rear corner of the phone ’s base, as well as around the re ceive r ’s ea rpiece.
12 OPERATIO N To use the Liste ner, simpl y place or a nswer a call on the ph one you at tached it to, then set ON/OF F to ON . Adjust the Li ste ner’ s vo lum e co ntro l to a com for table level . When the call is over, h ang up th e phone then set ON/OFF to OFF .
