10 MOISTUR E CONDENSATION Condensa tion inside the M odel 3 6’s VCR can cause tape jams or video head damage. When the Model 36’s aut omatic dew sen sor senses mo istur e, DEW ap pears and the Mo del 36 will not pl ay a tape.

12 CONNECTING AN OUTDOOR ANTENNA The supplie d antenna provides goo d recept ion in most areas. B ut, for the best reception i n al l areas, use a high-quali ty outdoor antenna, av ail- able at your local Rad ioShack st ore. • If t he ante nna uses 75-ohm coaxial c able, connect th e antenna ’s cable directly t o the Model 36’s ANT .

CHANNEL s/t REMOTE CONT ROL All of the remote control’s buttons have the same fun ctions as the buttons on the M odel 36’s front panel.
16 Using the Remote Control To use the rem ote control, aim the front of the remote control toward the front of the Mo del 36 and press the desired button(s).
17 Changing the Cha nnels Stored in M emo ry Although the Mode l 36 automa tically stores all active channe ls in y our area t he first t ime you turn it o n, you c an manual ly set t he Mo del 36 to re-program the tuner’s mem ory. Note: If you tune bot h TV (broad cast) and CATV (cable TV) signals, you can store bo th ty p es of channels.
18 SETTI NG TH E CLOCK You m ust set the clock ac curately fo r proper automatic t imer rec ordin g. In m any areas , Pub- lic Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations broad- cast an Extend Data Service (EDS) sign al with their regular broadcast. Thi s signal can auto- matically set your Model 36’ s clock to the cor- rect time .

23 CHANGING T HE T A PE’ S DIRECTION/ V AR YING T HE PLAYBACK SPEED You can use the buttons on the front of the Mod- el 36 a nd rem ote cont rol to c hange t he tape’ s di- rection and vary the playback speed.

25 USING THE G AME MOD E The Mode l 36 has a preprog rammed pi cture control setting for viewing video gam es o r simi- lar programs. This setting softens the contrast and is e as ier on the ey es. Follow these steps to turn the game m ode on or off. 1.

28 RECORDING GENERAL INF ORMATION You can use t he following met hods to record with your Model 36. • im mediate rec ording — records the pro- gram you are watching • one-t ouch recordi ng (OTR).
29 If you wa nt to record on a video cassette that has ha d its tab rem oved, put a piece of hea vy plastic tape over the erase-protection tab hole. IMMEDIATE RECO RDING Notes: • Y ou canno t use the Mod el 36 to reco rd one program while you watch another .
