10 PREPARATION SETTING THE TIME Press th e larg e button to turn on the pager , then fol- low thes e ste ps to set the curr ent time. Note: If you do not set th e time, the pager i ncorre ctly repor ts the tim es of your page s. 1. At the t ime display , repeatedl y press the smal l butt on until the pag er displ ays SET TIME .

12 SELECTING SILENT OR AUDI BLE ALERT To hav e the pager vib rate wh en you receiv e a pag e, at t he ti me disp lay, repeat edly press the small butt on unti l the p ager displ ays SILENT? . Then pr ess the larg e butt on. The pager vi brates, and dis appears from th e display .
13 OP ERAT ION T URNING THE PAGER ON/OFF To turn on the pag er, pres s th e large but to n. The pag- er sou nds an alert t one or vi brat es an d briefly t urns on all disp lay indicat ors, then das hes ( – – –) appear .
14 RECEIVING AND READING MESSAGES When t he pager receiv es a message , it alerts (b eeps or vi brates ) for 8 seconds . To stop the aler t sooner , press eithe r butt on. The pager disp l ays t he number of unread messages. Press t he lar ge but ton.
15 To read addit ional message s, repeatedly press the larg e butto n. The pager first displa ys all new messa g- es i n or der ( by th e ti me they we re recei ved), then it displ ays a ll message s in order .
16 Duplicate Me ssages If your page r rece ives a messag e that is the s ame as one alr eady stor ed in memory (re ad or unread), dUPLICATE appears when you press th e lar ge but- ton t o read that message. Pr ess t he large b utton again t o read t he dupli cat e message.
17 Unreadable Mess ages If your pager recei ve s a mess age tha t is partia lly or to- tal ly unrea dable, it does not dis play th e unreadab le part s.
18 PROTECTING AND UNPROTECTING MESSAGES Foll ow these steps to pr otect a message from bei ng repl aced (i f t he memor y i s full) or acci dent ally del eted. 1. Repeate dly press the large button unt il the pager displ ay s the messa ge you want to pro tec t.

20 DELETING ALL UNPROTECTED/ READ MESSAGES Cautio n: This proced ure deletes all unprote cted mes- sages tha t you have read. Be sure you pro tect any mess ages that you want to save befor e you fol low these st eps. 1. At the t ime display , repea tedly press the smal l butt on until the pag er displ ays ERASE ALL .
