It is compa tible with all cab le syst ems and gives you co m- plete rem ote contr ol select ion of all cable c hannels (V HF, Mid-Ba nd, Su - per-Band, an d Hyp er-Band).

4 PREPARATION Your c onverter’ s remote c ontrol re- quires tw o AAA batterie s (not sup- plied) for powe r. For the best perform ance and l ongest li fe, we r ec- ommend RadioSh ack alka line batt er- ies. Cautions: • Use o nly fr esh batt eries o f the required s ize and recomm ended type.
5 Caution: To avo id d amagi ng your conver ter, mak e sure you r conv erter is not co nnected t o an AC outlet be fore setting IRC/HRC/STD . Note: If you ar e not sure what type of chann el frequenc y system your cab le system uses, co ntact y our local cable compa ny.
6 USING THE SWI TC H ED A C OUTLET The conver ter’s b uilt-in switc hed AC outlet lets you connect a TV or anoth- er electr onic d evice that uses 120 V, 60Hz p ower (up to 600 watts) directly to the con verter. Press PO WER on the conv erte r or r e- mote co ntrol to tu rn on the converte r and the outlet.
7 CONNECTING THE CON VER TER CONNECTING TO A TV Use the su pplied 75 -ohm coa xial ca- ble with F- type conne ctors to co nnect the 75-ohm termi nal on your TV to the RF OUT ter minal on the back of the conver ter.

9 T w o-Wire Ca ble Syst em Some cab le systems offer more th an 181 cha nnels and include two i ncoming w ires. To use your co nverter w ith suc h a syst em, inst all an A /B sw itch (not supplie d), availab le from your local Ra dioShack store, to c onnect the cable co mpany’s wires to the con verter.

12 OPERATION OPERATING THE CON VER TER’ S RECEIVER Press PO WER on the co nver ter or re- mote control to turn the conve r ter and the switch ed AC outlet o n and off. When you turn o ff the co nverter , a dot appears on the lo wer right corner of the displa y to i ndica te that the con- verter is in stand by mode.
13 USING THE REMOTE CONTR OL The remo te control lets you operate your c onverter from acro ss the roo m. For the mo st depe ndable op eration, point the remote con trol toward the conver ter’s d isplay. Here is a de scription of each of the re- mote co ntrol’s keys: MUTE — press to temporari ly turn off sound .
14 Remote Control TV s If yo ur TV ha s a remo te con trol and your co nverter’s remote co ntrol int er- feres with the TV ’s operation, either turn off the TV’s remote co ntrol fea- ture (if t he TV h as a remot e control on/ off switc h) or co ver the TV ’s remote control receiver window (wi th a piece of black tap e, for ex ample).
15 SETTING THE SLEEP TIMER Follow these steps to set the conve rt- er to auto matically turn of f after a cer- tain length of time (90, 6 0, or 30 minutes). 1. Press SLEEP . 9.0 appear s and the sleep timer indica tor lights. 2. Repeate dly press SLEEP un til the desired l ength of tim e appears.
