3 BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the new PROFORM ® Cardio Crosstrainer 650 low-impact elliptical exerciser . The Cardio Crosstrainer 650 is an incredibly smooth exer- ciser that moves your feet in a natural elliptical path, m inimizing the impact on your knees and ankles.
T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the elliptical exerciser , call toll-free 1-800-445-2480. Assembly requires two persons. Place all parts of the elliptical exerciser in a cleared area and remove the p acking materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed.
5 1. Identify the Front Stabilizer (2), which has T ransport Wheels (29) attached to it. Attach the Front Stabilizer t o the Frame (1) with two M8 x 3 1/2” Carriage Bolts (51), two M8 Arc W ashers (54), and two M8 Cap Nuts ( 24). 2. T ip the Frame (1) up onto its front end as shown.
6 5. While another person holds the Upright (3) near the Frame (1), connect the console wire to the Reed Switch Wire (67). Next, connect the console cable to the Resistance Cable (70) in the following way: • See drawing A.
7 6 57 5 2 6. Identify the Right Pedal (63), which has an “R” mold- ed into its bottom surface, and the Right Pedal T ube ( 64), which is marked with a sticker . Attach the Right Pedal (63) to the Right Pedal T ube (64) with two M8 x 1 9/16” Hex Bolts (41), two M8 W ashers (52), and two M8 Nylon Locknuts (57).
8 HOW T O USE THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER H OW TO EXERCISE ON THE ELLIPTICAL EXERCISER T o mount the e lliptical exerciser , firmly hold the handle- bars and carefully step onto the pedal that is in the lowest position. Next, step onto the other pedal. Push the pedals until they begin to move with a continuous motion.
9 H OW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE Note: If there is a sheet of clear plastic on the console, peel off the plastic. T urn on the console. T o turn on the console, press the On/Reset button or begin pedaling. Select the manual mode. Each time the console is turned on, the manual mode will be selected.
10 HOW TO USE A P ACE PROGRAM T urn on the console. See step 1 on page 9. S elect one of the four pace programs. Each time the console is turned on, the manual mode will be selected. T o select a pace program, press the Program button repeatedly until the number 1, 2, 3, or 4 appears in the upper right corner of the display .
1 1 I nspect and properly tighten all parts of the elliptical exerciser regularly . Replace any worn parts immedi- ately . The elliptical exerciser can be wiped clean with a soft c loth and mild detergent.
12 The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. Remember that proper nutrition and adequate rest are essential for successful results. EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity .
13 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1. T oe T ouch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
