YOUR POWER CHAIR THE JAZZY ELITE SE RIES POWER CHAIR The Jazzy Elite Series Power Chair has two main asse mblies: the seat assembly an d the power base assembly. See figure 1. Typically, the seat assembly includes the armrests, seatback, and seat base.

Jazzy Elite Series www.pridemobility.com 11 Manual Freewheel Levers Your power chair has a manual freewheel lever on each motor. Manual free wheel levers enable you to disengage the drive motors from the gearboxes and maneuver the chair manually.
12 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series Seat Installation It may be necessary to inst all the seat either prior to initial operation or after transporting your power chair. Contour seat s are attached to the power base with the Universal Mounting System (UMS).
Jazzy Elite Series www.pridemobility.com 13 COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS After becoming familiar with your power chair’s operati on, you may find the need to make some adjustments to increase your comfort, such as seat height, armrest angle, foot platform angle, dept h, and height, and controller position.
14 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series V. COMFORT ADJUSTMENTS Seat Position You can move the seat forward or rearward by changing the extru- sion mounting position. To change the position: 1. Turn off the power to the controller. 2. Make sure the power chair is in drive mode.

18 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series Positioni ng Belt Your power chair may be equipped with a positioning belt that can be adjusted for operator comfort. See figure 15. The positioning belt is desi gned to support the operator so that he/she does not slide down or forward in the seat.
Jazzy Elite Series www.pridemobility.com 19 BATTERIES AND CHARGING Your power chair uses two l ong-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. Th ese batteries are seal ed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, th ere is no need to check the electrolyte (flu id) level.
20 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series To charge the batteries us ing the off-board charger: 1. Position the front of your power chair next to a standard electrical outlet. See figure 16. 2. Be certain the controller power is turned off and the freewheel levers are in the engaged position.
Jazzy Elite Series www.pridemobility.com 21 How often must I charge the batteries? Many factors come into play when de ciding how often to charge the batter ies. You may use your power chair all day on a daily basis or you may not use it for weeks at a time.
22 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING How can I ensure maximum battery life? A fully charged deep-cycle battery wi ll provide reliable performance and extended battery life. Keep your power chair’s batteries fully charged whenever possible.
Jazzy Elite Series www.pridemobility.com 23 CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your Jazzy Elite Series is a sophisticated power ch air. Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of these checks, but others require assistance from an authorized service r epresen- tative.
24 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series VII. CARE AND MAINTENANCE All wheel bearings are prelubricated and seal ed. They require no s ubsequent lubrication. The body shroud has been sprayed with a clear sealant co ating. You can apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance.
Jazzy Elite Series www.pridemobility.com 25 Storage Your power chair should be stored in a dry place, free from te mperature extremes. When storing, disconnect the batteries from the power chair. See VI. “Batteries and Charging.” WARNING! If you fail to store the unit properly , the frame can rust and the electronics can be damaged.
26 www.pridemobility.com Jazzy Elite Series Follow these easy steps fo r a quick and safe replace- ment of solid tires: 1. Turn off the power to the controller. 2. Make sure that the power chair is in drive mode. See figure 4. 3. Raise and support the power base so that the wheel is at least 1 in.
