9 - ENG A09770 ASSEMBL Y Unpacking 1. Remove unit from carton and discar d all packaging. IMPORT ANT : The outlet being used must be installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. 2. Make sure the outlet being used has the same configuration as the grounded plug.
10 - ENG A09770 Extension Cords Using extension cords is not recommended. The use of extension cords will cause voltage to dr op resulting in power loss to the motor and overheating. Instead of using an extension cord, increase the working r each of the air hose by attaching another length of hose to its end.

Drain V alve: The drain valve i s locat ed at the base o f the a ir tank a nd is u sed to drain condens ation a t the en d of ea ch use. Check V alve: Wh en the air compr essor is operat ing, th e check valve is "op en", allowi ng compr essed air to enter the ai r tank.
13 - ENG A09770 Before Each Start-Up: 1. Place On/Auto/Off lever to "Of f". 2. T urn the regulator knob counter - clockwise to set the outlet pressur e to zero. 3. Attach hose and accessories. NOTE: The hose or accessory will requir e a quick connect plug if the air outlet is equipped with a quick connect socket.
14 - ENG A09770 T o Drain T ank 1. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to "Off" and unplug unit. 2. T urn the regulator knob counter - clockwise to set the outlet pressur e to zero. 3. Remove the air tool or accessory . 4. Pull ring on safety valve allowing air to bleed from the tank until tank pressur e is approximately 20 psi.
6. Unscrew elbow fitting from the check valve (tur n counter - clockwise) using an adjustable wrench. Note the orientation of the elbow fitting for reassembly . 7. Using a screwdriver , carefully push the valve disc up and down. NOTE: The valve disc should move freely up and down on a spring which holds the valve disc in the closed position.
16 - ENG A09770 6. Assemble the regulator and orient as shown. NOTE : Arrow indicates flow of air . Make sure it is pointing in the direction of air flow . 7. Reapply pipe sealant to outlet pressur e gauge and quick connect. 8. Reassemble outlet pressure gauge and quick connect.
17 - ENG A09770 STORAGE Before you stor e the air compressor , make sure you do the following: 1. Review the "Maintenance" section on the preceding pages and perform scheduled maintenance as necessary . 2. Set the On/Auto/Off lever to "Of f" and unplug unit.
18 - ENG A09770 TROUBLESHOOTING Risk of Unsafe Operation. Unit cycles automatically when power is on. When performing maintenance, you may be exposed to voltage sources, compressed air , or moving parts.
19 - ENG A09770 PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION It is normal for "some" pressur e drop to occur . If there is an excessive amount of pressure drop when the accessory is used, adjust the regulator following the instructions in the "Description of Operation" paragraph in the "Operation Section.
20 - ENG A09770 Regulator will not shut Off air outlet. Damaged regulator . Replace. PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION Motor will not run. Fuse blown, circuit breaker tripped.
