Connections and Setup 9 Connecting to V ideo Equipment Using a S-video or a Composi te Video Cable (VIDEO/S-VIDEO) Using a S-video or a co mposite video cable, a VCR, DVD Player or other video equipment can be connected to the S-VIDEO or VIDEO terminals.
10 Connections and Setup Connecting to Component Video Equipment Using a Component Cab le (Component 1 or 2) Use a component cable when connecting component video equipment such as DVD players and DTV* decoders to the Comp onent 1 or 2 terminals. *DTV is an umbrella term used to describe the new digital television system.
Connections and Setup 11 Connecting Using a D VI-D to HDMI Cable Use a DVI to HDMI cable when connecting HDMI video equipment such as DVD players to the DVI te rminal. 1 Connect a DVI-D to HDMI c able to the projector . • Secure the connectors by tightening the thumbscrews.
12 Connections and Setup Connecting the Projector to a Computer Connect the projector to the co mputer using an HD 15-pin VGA c able. • Secure the cable connectors by tightening the screws on both sides of the plug. Notes • See page 39 “Computer Compatibility Chart” for a list of computer signals compatible with the pro jector .
Connections and Setup 13 Connecting the Thumbscrew Cables Connect the cable making sure that it fits correctly into the terminal. Secure the connectors by tighten ing the screws on both sides of the plug. Do not remove the ferrite cores attached to the cable.
14 Connections and Setup Adjust able Leveling Foot Adjusting the Lens Use the adjust able foot to lev el the projector when it is placed on an uneven surface or when the screen is slant ed. The projected image can be made higher by adjusting the projec tor when it is low er than the screen.

Basic Operation 29 Option Menu Item Description White Enhance Use this option to adjust: the color: white bright or dark. Press W or X button to enable or disable white color enhancement of the image. Select from ON or OFF . • ON: Emphasizes the bright portions of images.
Basic Operation 30 Deinterlace This function allows you to determine the type of incoming vid eo content-film, static interlaced video and moving interlaced video. Different algor ithms are applied for each of the content types. Press W or X button to set the deinterlace mode.

34 Appendix Maintenance Cleaning th e projector Unplug the power cord before cleaning the proj ector . Avoid using benzene or thinners, as these can dama ge the finish on the cabinet and operation panel. Do not use volatile agents, such as insecticides, on the projector .
A ppendix 35 About the Lamp The projector lamp has a life sp an of approximately 2000 hour s. Maintain proper ventilation to keep the lamp operating throughou t its lifetime. Do not subject the projector to unnecessary vibrations to ensure that the lamp does not br eak.
36 Appendix Removing and Replacing the Lamp Follow these instructions to replace the lamp. • Remove the lamp unit by the han dle. Do not to touch th e glass surface of the lamp unit or the inside of the projector . • T o avoid injuring yourself and damaging the lamp, carefully fo llow the steps below .
