9 7. HANDLING The concentrator should alwa y s be kept in the upright position to prevent cabinet da mage while being transported. The shipping container has been de signed to assure maximum protection of the concentrator . I f the concentrator is to be re shipped by common carrie r , additional cartons are available from Merits.
10 8. OPERA TION 8.1 SELECT A LOCA TION Select a location where sides and bottom are unobstructed to ensure proper air flow . Be sure that the machine is placed away from drapes or other objects that might block the flow of incoming air and/or alarm indicators.

12 8.5 TURN ON POW ER SWITCH Press the p ower switch to the I position. The p ower indicator light will illuminate. 8.6 ADJU ST FLOWRA TE T urn the knob on the flowmeter to adjust the flowrate to that prescribed by y our physician. The ball inside the flowmeter must be centered on the f lowline for the desired flowrate.
13 9. ALARMS The concentrator is equipped with a visual and a n audible indicator . POWER LOSS: An audible alarm will sound and the power indicator light will turn of f.
14 4. The oxy gen conc entration should be checked eve ry 90 day s for units without optional oxyg en sensors. The oxy gen conc entration should be checked eve ry 6 months for units with optional oxyg en sensors. 10.2 CLEANING THE CABINET FIL TERS NOTE: All conce ntrator models have one cabinet filter located at r ear side of t he cabinet.
15 10.4 HUMIDIFIER NOTE: T o clean the oxyg en humidif ier , follow the instructions prov ided by t he manufactur er . If none ar e pr ovided, foll ow these steps 1. Clean the humidifier every day . 2. W ash it in soapy water and rinse it with a solution of 10 parts water and 1 part vineg ar .
