About this unit NTSC compatibility This unit is NTSC system compatible. When connecting other components to this unit, be sure components are compatible with the same video system otherwise images will not be correctly reproduced. About this manual This unit features a number of sophisticated functions ensuring superior reception and op- eration.
Resetting the microprocessor The microprocessor must be reset under the following conditions: ! Prior to using this unit for the first time after installation ! If the unit fails to operate properly ! When strange or incorrect messages ap- pear on the display % Press RESET with a pen tip or other pointed instrument.
Display unit 1 DISPLA Y button Press to select different displays. 2 BACK LIGHT button Press and hold to turn the backlight off. Press again to turn the backlight on. 3 Ambient light sensor Senses ambient light. This system automati- cally adjusts the brightness of the display to compensate for ambient light.
c CHANNEL button Press to do manual seek tuning. d ANGLE (+/ ) button Press to change the LCD panel angle. e VOLUME button Press to increase or decrease the built-in speaker volume. f A V SOURCE button This unit is turned on by selecting a source.
T urning the unit on and selecting a source 1 1 Source icon Shows which source has been selected. SOURCE mode ( S ) 1 Select TV or AV as a source on your head unit. Refer to the head unit operation manual. ! When you select TV , there is no need to take the following procedure.
T urning the built-in speaker output on or off % Press SPEAKER to turn the built-in speaker output off. OFF appears in the display . # T o turn the built-in speaker output on, press SPEAKER again. Built-in speaker output is now on and AUDIO ap- pears in the display.
% Press ANGLE (+/ ) to adjust the LCD panel to an easily viewable angle. The LCD panel angle continues changing as long as you press ANGLE (+/ ) and hold. # The adjusted the LCD panel angle will be memorized and automatically returned to the next time the LCD panel is opened.
Adjusting the picture adjustment Y ou can adjust BRIGHT (brightness), CONTRAST (contrast), COLOR (color) and HUE (hue) for each source and rear view cam- era. ! The adjustments of BRIGHT and CONTRAST are stored separately for light ambient (daytime) and dark ambient (night- time).
3 Press c or d to adjust the brightness. Each press of c or d moves yellow towards the left or the right. The level indicates the brightness of the screen being adjusted. The farther yellow moves to the right, the brighter the screen. 4 Press BAND/ESC to return to the display of each source.
Only when using this unit with SOURCE mode ( S ), you can perform the following operations by head unit. What sW h a t Head unit (e.g., DVH-P5650MP) Operate this unit (for TV reception) with the connected head unit. Instructions in this man- ual use DVH-P5650MP as an example of head unit.
W atching the television 3 3 1 1 1 2 2 2 1 Band indicator Shows which band the TV tuner is tuned to. 2 Channel indicator Shows which channel the TV tuner is tuned. 3 Preset number indicator Shows which preset has been selected. 1 Press SOURCE to select the TV .
Storing and recalling broadcast stations If you press any of the preset tuning buttons 1 6 you can easily store up to six broadcast stations for later recall with the touch of a but- ton. % When you find a station that you want to store in memory press one of preset tun- ing buttons 1 6 and hold until the preset number stops flashing.

Storing the strongest broadcast stations sequentially 1 BSSM (best stations sequential memory) lets you automatically store the 12 strongest broadcast stations in order from the lowest channel up. 1 Function display Shows the function names. 1 Press A.
Listening to a CD 1 3 4 2 5 Only when using this unit with MASTER mode ( M ), you can perform the following operations by this unit. Y ou can use this unit to control a multi-CD player , which is sold separately . These are the basic steps necessar y to play a CD with your multi- CD player .
Introduction of advanc ed multi-CD player operation 1 1 Function display Shows the function names. 1 Press A.MENU to display MENU . FUNCTION and SETUP appear on the display. 2 Use a , b and A.MENU to select FUNCTION. Press a / b to change the menu option; press A.
3 Press a to turn random play on. T racks will play in a random order within the previously selected M-CD or DISC ranges. # T o turn random play off , press b . Scanning CDs and tracks While you are using DISC , the beginning of each track on the selected disc plays for about 10 seconds.
Playback from your ITS playlist ITS play lets you listen to the tracks that you have entered into your ITS playlist. When you turn on ITS play , tracks from your ITS playlist in the multi- CD player will begin to play. 1 Select the re peat range. Refer to Repeating play on page 19.

Switching the auxiliary setting 1 It is possible to use auxiliar y equipment with this unit. Activate the auxiliary setting when using auxiliar y equipment connected to this unit. ! Only when using this unit with MASTER mode ( M ), you can operate this function.

T roubleshooting Common Symptom Cause Action (See) P ower doesn t turn on. The unit doesn t operate. Leads and connectors are incor- rectly connected. Confirm once more that all connect ions are correct. The fuse is blown. Rectify the reason for the fuse blowing, then replace the fuse.
Using the display correctly CAUTION ! If liquid or foreign matter should get inside this unit, turn off the power immediately and consult your dealer or the nearest authorized PIONEER Ser vice Station. Do not use the unit in this condition because doing so may result in a fire, electric shock, or other failure.
Keeping the display in good condition ! When removing dust from the screen or cleaning the display , first turn the system power off , then wipe with a soft dr y cloth. ! When wiping the screen, take care not to scratch the surface. Do not use harsh or abrasive chemical cleaners.
